Between the raised circles is a flat indentation. A raised band extends around the object. Pre-Columbian Guangala human head figurine
No full textPre-Columbian hollow ceramic head with narrowed eyes and large nose. Fairly simple features and large ears with one appliqué ear spool in the right ear and two in the left. There is also remnants of a lined design in the pigment on the face of the figure that has since faded.Figure shows signs of breakage at the neck so it was probably larger at one time. Overall good condition. Fading and regular wear of the paint and some evidence that there was another appliqué ear spool in the right ear just over the present one making the ears mirrors of one another
