Pode ser unilateral ou bilateral. Sem sintomatologia e etiologia aparente, geralmente sem necessidade de tratamento. Essa exostose pode levar a compressão externa do ducto submandibular, impedindo o fluxo salivar no local, levando a formação de sialólitos. Em casos extensos, há remoção pelo método cirúrgico, para evitar traumas e ulcerações em mucosa. A terapia com laser de baixa intensidade consiste em uma técnica terapêutica em que é feito a utilização de laser de baixa potência, visando estabelecer cura, regeneração tecidual, redução de processo inflamatório e alívio de dor, promovendo esses benefícios através de estímulos à processos biológicos naturais. O presente trabalho relata uma abordagem cirúrgica em paciente do gênero masculino, militar da ativa, sargento, apresentando tórus mandibular bilateral extenso, realizada na base aérea de Fortaleza (BAFZ). Houve obliteração dos ductos das glândulas submandibulares, infecção e acúmulo de cálculo salivar (sialolitíase). Ocorreu também, evolução com necrose da mucosa no pós-operatório e, assim, indicada aplicação da laserterapia, através duas a três sessões, utilizando o comprimento de onda infravermelho 1 joules(J) na exostose e o comprimento de onda vermelho 2 joules(J) ao redor da mesma para acelerar a cicatrização. Paciente obteve alta após um mês da cirurgia, apresentando bom prognóstico e sem qualquer queixa aparente nos retornos. Paciente foi acompanhado durante 1 ano. O que se sugere que o tratamento adjuvante com laserterapia é uma boa proposta, inovadora, para evolução de pacientes comprometidos após procedimento cirúrgico, sugerindo mais estudos à cerca de casos como o citado.The mandibular torus is a common benign bony exostosis that can be found on the lingual surface of the mandible, close to the incisor and premolar regions. It can be unilateral or bilateral. It has no apparent symptoms or etiology and generally requires no treatment. This exostosis can lead to external compression of the submandibular duct, preventing salivary flow there and leading to the formation of sialoliths. It is not always indicated as an autogenous graft, but its excision does not compromise aesthetics and function. In extensive cases, it is removed surgically to avoid trauma and ulceration of the mucosa. Low-intensity laser therapy is a therapeutic technique in which low-power lasers are used to establish healing, tissue regeneration, reduction of inflammation and pain relief, promoting these benefits by stimulating natural biological processes. This paper reports on a surgical approach in a male patient, active military, sergeant, with an extensive bilateral mandibular torus, carried out at Fortaleza air base (FAB). There was obliteration of the submandibular gland ducts, infection and accumulation of salivary calculus (sialolithiasis). The mucosa developed necrosis in the post-operative period, so laser therapy was recommended for two to three sessions, using an infrared wavelength of 1joules(J) on the exostosis and a red wavelength of 2joules(J) around it to speed up healing. The patient was discharged one month after surgery, with a good prognosis and no apparent complaints on return visits. Patient was followed for 1 year. This suggests that adjuvant treatment with laser therapy is a good, innovative proposal for the evolution of compromised patients after surgery, suggesting further studies into cases such as the one mentioned
Development and validation of a mobile application for general physicians in ophthalmological emergency procedures
No full textOs atendimentos de urgências oftalmológicas são realizados em todo o Brasil, tanto por médicos oftalmologistas quanto por médicos generalistas, devendo ser resolutivos e corretos, a fim de evitar maiores riscos de perdas visuais. Nesse contexto, a educação em saúde, por meio de aplicativo móvel, torna-se uma estratégia para operacionalização da promoção da saúde, mais precisamente da saúde ocular. O objetivo geral desta pesquisa é desenvolver e validar um aplicativo móvel para guiar médicos generalistas em condutas de urgências oftalmológicas. Dessa forma, este estudo desenvolveu e validou o aplicativo OftalmoApp, que promove uma melhor qualidade do atendimento, principalmente dos distritos mais distantes da capital, com pouco acesso a especialistas, visando atender às necessidades da população e auxiliar na rotina dos médicos nos diversos níveis de atenção à saúde. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa aplicada de produção tecnológica (aplicativo móvel) para uso médico. Para o desenvolvimento do aplicativo, foi utilizada a metodologia de co-design adaptada de David Millard et al. (2010), composta por cinco etapas: a) escopo – visão geral dos objetivos de aprendizagem; b) compreensão compartilhada – que traz a definição de requisitos, tipos de tecnologias e metodologias pedagógicas que constituem o aplicativo; c) brainstorming– que apresenta o projeto de interface e navegação, esboço das primeiras interfaces do aplicativo; d) refinamento – modelagem das telas do aplicativo, imagens, casos clínicos e diagramação das atividades, ou seja, o desenvolvimento do aplicativo; e) implementação – testes e validação de conteúdo e aparência. Para a validação de conteúdo e aparência, foi aplicado o questionário Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM), que apresentou o resultado de 95,1% de concordância, sendo considerado um material superior. Com isso, o aplicativo foi compreendido como atraente para o usuário. Já para a avaliação da usabilidade, foi realizado o questionário System Usability Scale (SUS), que pontuou 89,4 escores, interpretado como “excelente”. A maioria dos médicos generalistas, mais de 80%, considerou que gostaria de usar esse aplicativo frequentemente. Embora os dados do estudo não possam ser generalizados para todas as realidades da emergência oftalmológica no Brasil, ainda assim, é possível inferir, com base nas respostas dos participantes da pesquisa, que o OftalmoApp contribui para o meio acadêmico, científico, bem como com os profissionais da área da saúde, como um aplicativo consistente, sob os aspectos de conteúdo, aparência e utilidade na busca de contribuição para o auxílio na rotina diária dos médicos generalistas nos diversos níveis de atenção à saúde, no que diz respeito, em especial, aos cuidados com os olhos.Ophthalmological emergency care is provided throughout Brazil, both by ophthalmologists and general practitioners, and must be resolute and correct, in order to avoid greater risks of visual loss. In this context, health education, through a mobile application, becomes a strategy for operationalizing health promotion, more precisely eye health. The general objective of this research is to develop and validate a mobile application to guide general practitioners in ophthalmological emergencies. Therefore, this study developed and validated the OftalmoApp application, which promotes better quality of care, especially in the most distant districts of the capital, with little access to specialists, aiming to meet the needs of the population and assist in the routine of doctors at different levels of care. health care. A Terapia Fotodinâmica (PDT) vem se destacando como auxiliar aos procedimentos antimicrobianos, apresentando resultados positivos como auxiliar no preparo químico-mecânico. O presente estudo objetiva apresentar um relato de caso de retratamento endodôntico não cirúrgico associado a PDT em um dente com lesão periapical persistente. Paciente J.P.S.N, 48 anos, compareceu na Clínica Escola de Odontologia do Centro Universitário Christus, queixando-se do escurecimento da coroa do dente 11. Ao realizar exame clínico e radiográfico foi observada a presença de rarefação óssea periapical na região do dente 11 e material obturador em região de câmara pulpar. A necessidade de retratamento endodôntico foi esclarecida ao paciente, para em seguida realizar o tratamento estético. Realizou-se o retratamento endodôntico não cirúrgico com os instrumentos Gates Glidden (Dentsply), lima tipo Hedstroem (Dentsply), lima tipo K (Dentsply), além da medicação intracanal à base de hidróxido de cálcio e da PDT utilizando o fotossensibilizador azul de metileno 0,01% aguardando o tempo de pré-irradiação de 5 minutos, em seguida realizado a irradiação com o laser de baixa potência DUO (MM Óptics) acoplado a uma fibra óptica (MM Óptics), utilizando os parâmetros de 660nm, 9J, 90s, 100Mw. Foram realizados 3 ciclos desse protocolo na mesma sessão. 6 meses após o tratamento ter sido concluído foi possível observar remissão gradual da lesão periapical, com ausência de sintomatologia dolorosa, indicando assim, um prognóstico favorável.Effective root canal disinfection is a fundamental component of successful endodontic treatment. However, failures may occur, with remnants of infected tissue and persistent periradicular inflammation. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) has been standing out as an adjunct to antimicrobial procedures, presenting positive results as an adjunct to chemical-mechanical preparation. The present study aims to present a case report of non-surgical endodontic retreatment associated with PDT in a tooth with persistent periapical lesion. Patient J.P.S.N, 48 years old, attended the Dental School Clinic of the Christus University Center, complaining of darkening of the crown of tooth 11. During clinical and radiographic examination, the presence of periapical bone rarefaction in the region of tooth 11 and filling material in the pulp chamber region were observed. The need for endodontic retreatment was explained to the patient, so that the aesthetic treatment could be performed. Non-surgical endodontic retreatment was performed with Gates Glidden instruments (Dentsply), Hedstroem type file (Dentsply), K file (Dentsply), in addition to intracanal medication based on calcium hydroxide and PDT using 0,01% methylene blue photosensitizer, waiting for the pre-irradiation time of 5 minutes, then irradiation was performed with the low-power DUO laser (MM Óptics) coupled to an optical fiber (MM Óptics), using the parameters of 660nm, 9J, 90s, 100Mw. Three cycles of this protocol were performed in the same session. Six months after the treatment was completed, it was possible to observe gradual remission of the periapical lesion, with the absence of painful symptoms, thus indicating a favorable prognosis
The role of CGA and CGE certifications for third-party asset managers and investments
No full textO artigo analisa a importância da certificação de gestores ANBIMA (CGA) e certificação de gestores ANBIMA para fundos estruturados (CGE) para gestores de recursos de terceiros, destacando suas contribuições para a proteção do investidor. A pesquisa se justifica pela escassez de material científico sobre a “certificação de gestores ANBIMA para fundos estruturados” no período de 2007 a 2024, pois constam apenas dois achados no buscador do Google Acadêmico; e pelo detalhamento explicativo das certificações de gestores de recursos de terceiros da ANBIMA. Utilizou-se uma metodologia de revisão bibliográfica de natureza exploratória e descritiva, conforme detalhado na seção de metodologia. Foram selecionados artigos científicos, dissertações, relatórios, livros, revista e sites especializados principalmente com ênfase nos materiais da ANBIMA e nas instruções da CVM. Os resultados indicam que as certificações são essenciais para garantir a qualificação técnica dos gestores, promovendo transparência e confiança no mercado financeiro. No entanto, existem barreiras significativas para a obtenção dessas certificações, como altos custos e complexidade dos exames. Conclui-se que é necessário tornar o processo de certificação mais acessível, investir em campanhas de formação e programas de conscientização, e melhorar continuamente o arcabouço regulatório e os processos de certificação para garantir que os gestores de recursos de terceiros estejam bem preparados para enfrentar os desafios de um mercado financeiro dinâmico e em constante evolução.The article analyzes the importance of the ANBIMA Managers Certification (CGA) and the ANBIMA Certification for Structured Fund Managers (CGE) for third-party asset managers, highlighting their contributions to investor protection. The research is justified by the scarcity of scientific material on the “ANBIMA certification of managers for structured funds” from 2007 to 2024, as there are only two findings in the Google Scholar search engine; and by the explanatory detailing of ANBIMA´s third-party asset management certifications.
An exploratory and descriptive bibliographic review methodology was used, as detailed in the methodology section. Scientific articles, dissertations, reports, books, journals, and specialized websites were selected, with particular emphasis on ANBIMA materials and CVM instructions. The results indicate that the certifications are essential to ensure the technical qualification of managers, promoting transparency and trust in the financial market. However, there are significant barriers to obtaining these certifications, such as high costs and exam complexity. It is concluded that it is necessary to make the certification process more accessible, invest in training campaigns and awareness programs, and continuously improve the regulatory framework and certification processes to ensure that third-party asset managers are well prepared to face the challenges of a dynamic and constantly evolving financial market

O uso de terapias integrativas está sendo cada vez mais utilizado na área da saúde, visando trazer aos pacientes melhor qualidade de vida, redução do quadro de ansiedade durante o atendimento odontológico. Realizou-se um ensaio clínico randomizado, duplo cego, controlado e de caráter analítico. Os voluntários foram avaliados através de uma consulta pré- cirúrgica para coleta dos dados e em seguida foram submetidos a uma cirurgia padronizada. Os grupos foram alocados randomicamente, sendo grupo 1: uso de aromaterapia no transcirúrgico; grupo 2: uso de placebo (semelhante ao composto ativo) no mesmo tempo cirúrgico. Os desfechos foram avaliados através de metodologias distintas. Foram analisados 16 pacientes de cada grupo, sem diferenças significativas entre sexo idade e perfil socioeconômico, tendo a maioria histórico de dor associada ao terceiro molar, e classificação com o grau de erupção sem divergência entre os grupos. Após a cirurgia, o pico de dor pós-operatória em ambos os grupos se mostrou após as 2 horas da cirurgia com redução após as 12 horas, sem diferenças entre os dois grupos em relação à dor (p>0,05). Em relação aos parâmetros hemodinâmicos: a pressão sistólica, frequência cardíaca e respiratória não houve diferenças significativas entre os grupos, tendo redução da pressão diastólica no grupo teste no trans e pós-operatório (p=0,003) e o pulso demostrou aumento significativo no grupo controle (p=0,011) sem grandes alterações no grupo teste (p=0,938). Em ambos os grupos, o somatório dos itens do OHIP-14 mostrou que houve um aumento em ambos os grupos após 24 horas e 72 horas (p=0,014 e p=0,032). A aromaterapia com óleo essencial de lavanda controla a piora na qualidade de vida após a remoção de terceiros molares, além de reduzir a ansiedade e melhorar os parâmetros hemodinâmicos.Aromatherapy is scientifically recognized as “an ancient art and science of using essential oils extracted from plants and other plant products to balance, harmonize, and promote the health of the body and mind,” according to the International Federation of Aromatherapists. The use of integrative therapies is becoming increasingly common in the healthcare field, providing patients with a better quality of life and reducing anxiety during dental care. A randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of aromatherapy. The volunteers were evaluated during a pre-surgical consultation for data collection and then underwent a standardized surgical procedure. The participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups: Group 1 received aromatherapy during surgery, while Group 2 received a placebo (similar in appearance and application to the active compound) during the same procedure. The phases of the study were assessed using different methodologies. Sixteen patients from each group were analyzed, with no significant differences between sex, age, or socioeconomic profile. The majority had a history of pain associated with third molar extractions, and the classification of pain severity did not differ between groups. Postoperatively, the peak of pain in both groups was observed 2 hours after surgery, followed by a reduction after 12 hours, showing no significant differences between the two groups regarding pain levels (p > 0.05). Regarding hemodynamic parameters, such as systolic pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate, there were no significant differences between the groups. However, a reduction in diastolic pressure was noted in the test group during and after surgery (p = 0.003). The pulse rate showed a significant increase in the control group (p = 0.011), while no significant changes were observed in the test group (p = 0.938). The sum of the OHIP-14 items indicated an increase in both groups after 24 and 72 hours post-surgery (p = 0.014 and p = 0.032, respectively). Aromatherapy with lavender essential oil was found to control the decline in quality of life following third molar removal, in addition to reducing anxiety and stabilizing hemodynamic parameters
Anacardic acid-loaded zein nanoparticles against Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm on contact lenses
No full textApesar de sua praticidade, existem riscos associados ao uso de lentes de contato, que vão desde simples desconfortos até ceratite infecciosa. Portanto, o uso de substâncias desinfetantes com ação bactericida para higienização das lentes de contato é essencial. Diante do desenvolvimento de resistência bacteriana, faz-se necessário a ponderação de novos ativos com esse mesmo propósito. O objetivo desse estudo é avaliar a ação antimicrobiana de nanopartículas de zeína carregadas com ácido anacárdico, extraído do líquido casca da castanha de caju, em biofilmes de Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Biofilmes de P. aeruginosa foram formados em lentes de contato gelatinosas. Os seguintes grupos foram testados: 1) Solução hidroetanólica 35%; 2) Nanopartículas de zeína não carregadas com ácido anacárdico; 3) Nanopartículas de zeína carregadas com ácido anacárdico; 4) Solução desinfetante Renu®; 5) Solução desinfetante OptiFree®. Ao todo, 45 lentes de contato (3 lentes por grupo, 3 repetições) foram imersas nas soluções descritas por 30 min, e em seguidas imersas em caldo de cultura inoculado com P.aeruginosa para formação de biofilme. A cada 24h de formação, as lentes foram submetidas à nova imersão nas soluções descritas. Após 48h, o biofilme foi coletado, diluído e plaqueado. As placas foram incubadas por 24h em estufa bacteriológica a 37oC. Após esse período, foi realizada a contagem de unidades formadoras de colônia/mL (UFC/mL). Os resultados dos ensaios microbiológicos foram transformados para logaritmo na base dez e foram calculadas as médias e desvios-padrões de cada grupo. Os dados foram submetidos ao teste de normalidade Kolmogorov-sminorv, e os grupos foram comparados pelo teste ANOVA seguido de pós-teste Tukey. Foi adotado o nível de significância 5%. O grupo composto pelas lentes de contato que foram imersas na solução de ácido anacárdico incorporado em nanopartículas de zeína (AA) demonstrou os menores níveis de UFC, sendo diferente estatisticamente para o grupo cujas lentes foram imersas em solução hidroetanólica 35% (ETANOL) (p=0,004), na solução Renu® (RENU) (p<0,0001) e na solução OptiFree® (OPTIFREE) (p<0,0001). A solução de nanopartículas de zeína incorporadas com ácido anacárdico, nas condições testadas nesse estudo, apresentaram potente ação antimicrobiana frente à biofilmes de P. aeruginosa formados em lentes de contato gelatinosas, sendo superior às soluções comerciais testadas.Despite their convenience, there are risks associated with the use of contact lenses, ranging from simple discomfort to infectious keratitis. In the face of bacterial resistance development, the consideration of new agents with the same purpose becomes necessary."The aim of this study is to evaluate the antimicrobial action of zein nanoparticles loaded with anacardic acid, extracted from liquid cashew nutshell, on Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms. P. aeruginosa biofilms were formed on soft contact lenses. The following groups were tested: 1) 35% hydroethanolic solution; 2) Zein nanoparticles not loaded with anacardic acid; 3) Anacardic acid-loaded zein nanoparticles; 4) Renu® disinfectant solution; 5) OptiFree® Disinfectant Solution. The contact lenses were immersed in these solutions for 30 min, and then immersed in a culture broth inoculated with P. aeruginosa for biofilm formation. Every 24 hours of formation, the lenses were subjected to a new immersion in the described solutions. After 48 h, the biofilm was collected, diluted and plated. The plates were incubated for 24 h in a bacteriological oven at 37oC. After this period, the colony forming units/mL (CFU/mL) count was performed. The results of the microbiological assays were log transformed to base ten and the average and standard deviations for each group were calculated. The data were submitted to the Kolmogorov-sminorv normality test, and the groups were compared by the ANOVA test followed by Tukey post-test. A significance level of 5% was adopted. The group of contact lenses that were immersed in the anacardic acid solution incorporated in zein nanoparticles (AA) showed the lowest levels of CFU, being statistically different from the group whose lenses were immersed in a 35% hydroethanolic solution (ETHANOL) (p=0.004), in the Renu® solution (RENU) (p<0.0001), and in the OptiFree® solution (OPTIFREE) (p<0.0001). The solution of zein nanoparticles incorporated with anacardic acid, under the conditions tested in this study, showed potent antimicrobial action against P. aeruginosa biofilms formed in soft contact lenses, being superior to the commercial solutions tested
Mental health in the public service: management issues and their impact on the quality of life of employees
No full textO presente estudo examina as transformações na sociedade pós-moderna e suas implicações para a Administração Pública, com foco na saúde e bem-estar dos servidores públicos. A pesquisa destaca como a aceleração das relações sociais e a crescente demanda por serviços públicos de qualidade desafiam a capacidade de adaptação das instituições. Observa-se que as instituições enfrentam dificuldades para inovar, limitadas por negações e pela burocracia, resultando em alternativas como a sobrecarga de trabalho e a excessiva especialização. A análise foca nas consequências dessas mudanças na qualidade de vida dos servidores, especialmente no aumento de licenças para tratamento de problemas de saúde mental. Utilizando o método lógico-dedutivo e análise bibliográfica qualitativa, o estudo investiga as causas do aumento de doenças mentais no serviço público e sugere que certos comportamentos, frequentemente vistos de maneira negativa, podem representar sintomas ou estratégias de autopreservação. É possível verificar o descompasso entre as expectativas do Estado, materializadas em seu arcabouço normativo, e a realidade institucional, caracterizada pela desmotivação e falta de perspectiva.This dissertation examines the transformations in post-modern society and their implications for Public Administration, focusing on the health and well-being of public servants. The research highlights how the acceleration of social relations and the increasing demand for quality public services challenge the adaptive capacity of institutions. It is observed that institutions face difficulties in innovating, limited by denials and bureaucracy, resulting in alternatives such as workload overload and excessive specialization. The analysis focuses on the consequences of these changes on the quality of life of the servants, especially in the increase of leaves for the treatment of mental health problems. Using the deductive-logical method and qualitative bibliographic analysis, the study investigates the causes of the increase in mental illnesses in the public service and suggests that certain behaviors, often seen negatively, may represent symptoms or self-preservation strategies. It is possible to verify the mismatch between the expectations of the State, materialized in its normative framework, and the institutional reality, characterized by demotivation and lack of perspective

O seu foco mudou para questões de promoção e prevenção da saúde, e a visão tradicional da mutilação foi eventualmente substituída. Mesmo com estes avanços, ainda há necessidade de intervenções que abordem questões de reabilitação, seja por meio de restaurações, implantes, próteses, seja mesmo por autotransplantes dentários. O objetivo do presente relato de caso é apresentar o caso clínico do paciente e seu acompanhamento. Trata-se de um caso clínico o qual foi realizado a partir de coleta de informações sobre o paciente, análise dos dentes (doador e receptor) e alvéolos, realização do autotransplante dental, tratamento endodôntico do dente doador e acompanhamento clínico. Foram levados em consideração as expectativas estéticas do paciente, além de reabilitadoras. Foi selecionado um paciente com idade de 20 anos e dente 37 comprometido por lesão periapical. Foi realizado o autotransplante, o tratamento endodôntico do germe dental transplantado e o acompanhamento pós operatório de 6 meses, imagiológico e clínico deste paciente. O autotransplante dentário representa uma alternativa biologicamente compatível e eficaz quando bem indicado e executado, apresenta índices de sucesso acima de 80% na literatura, favorecendo uma reabilitação dentária natural e imediata. Isto com excelente custo-benefício quando comparado às técnicas de implantodontia.Dentistry has come a long way in recent decades, bringing with it new methods. Its focus has shifted to issues of health promotion and prevention, and the traditional view of mutilation has eventually been replaced. Even with these advances, there is still a need for interventions that address rehabilitation issues, whether through restorations, implants, prostheses or even dental autotransplants. The aim of this case report is to present the patient's clinical case and follow-up. This is a clinical case which was carried out by collecting information about the patient, analyzing the teeth (donor and recipient) and alveoli, performing the dental autotransplant, endodontic treatment of the donor tooth and clinical follow-up. The patient's aesthetic and rehabilitative expectations were taken into account. A 20-year- old patient with tooth 37 compromised by a periapical lesion was selected. An autotransplant, endodontic treatment of the transplanted tooth germ and a 6-month post-operative, imaging and clinical follow-up of this patient were carried out. Dental autotransplantation represents a biologically compatible and effective alternative when properly indicated and performed, with success rates of over 80% in the literature, favoring natural and immediate dental rehabilitation. This is very cost- effective when compared to implant dentistry techniques

MÉTODOS: Foi realizado um estudo transversal através de um questionário que utilizou dois instrumentos: o WHOQOL-BREF para avaliação da qualidade de vida, e o ZARIT-22 que avalia a sobrecarga do cuidador. Foram incluídos cuidadores de pacientes com necessidades especiais da Clínica Escola de Odontologia Unichristus, excluindo aqueles que atuam há menos de 6 meses ou que não se sentirem confortáveis em responder. RESULTADOS: A média da sobrecarga dos cuidadores foi de 36,87 (±11,58), indicando sobrecarga moderada, com 7,8% apresentando sobrecarga leve, 62,3% moderada e 29,9% alta. O escore médio da qualidade de vida foi de 58,77, sendo o domínio de Relações Sociais o mais alto (63,74). Quanto à satisfação, 45,5% dos participantes estavam insatisfeitos, enquanto 54,5% estavam satisfeitos. Além disso, observou-se uma associação significativa entre o sexo feminino e a insatisfação com a qualidade de vida (p=0,029). DISCUSSÃO: Apesar dos bons índices de qualidade de vida, a sobrecarga moderada enfrentada reflete os desafios diários que eles vivenciam, impactando sua saúde mental e física. A maior insatisfação entre mulheres sugere a necessidade de suporte adicional, pois muitas vezes acumulam múltiplas responsabilidades.
CONCLUSÃO: É imperativo oferecer suporte à saúde dos cuidadores, conforme evidenciado pelos resultados, especialmente entre as mulheres. A implementação de intervenções e políticas que incentivem o autocuidado e promovam um equilíbrio saudável entre as responsabilidades de cuidado é essencial para garantir a qualidade de vida desses indivíduos.OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study is to evaluate the impacts of the routine carried out by caregivers and how this affects their quality of life.
METHODS: A cross-sectional study was carried out using a questionnaire that used two instruments: the WHOQOL-BREF to assess quality of life, and the ZARIT-22 to assess caregiver burden. Caregivers of patients with special needs from the Unichristus Dental School Clinic were included, excluding those who had been working for less than 6 months or who did not feel comfortable responding. RESULTS: The average caregiver burden was 36.87 (±11.58), indicating moderate burden, with 7.8% showing mild burden, 62.3% moderate and 29.9% high. The average quality of life score was 58.77, with the Social Relations domain being the highest (63.74). Regarding satisfaction, 45.5% of participants were dissatisfied, while 54.5% were satisfied. Furthermore, a significant association was observed between the female sex and dissatisfaction with quality of life (p=0.029). DISCUSSION: Despite the good quality of life indexes, the moderate overload they face reflects the daily challenges they experience, impacting their mental and physical health. The greater dissatisfaction among women suggests the need for additional support, as they often accumulate multiple responsibilities.
CONCLUSION: It is imperative to support the health of caregivers, as evidenced by the results, especially among women. The implementation of interventions and policies that encourage self-care and promote a healthy balance between care responsibilities is essential to guarantee the quality of life of these individuals

É importante levar em consideração que não abrange apenas a parte estética, mas sim possíveis obstáculos como erosão dentária, traumas bucomaxilofaciais, doenças periodontais e cáries dentárias, que podem afetar o desempenho de atividades necessárias ao sucesso de um bom atleta. Esta revisão de literatura tem como objetivo explorar a importância da Odontologia do esporte hoje como uma nova especialização digna de notoriedade, por meio de uma revisão. Para realizar esta revisão, foram pesquisados artigos nas bases de dados PUBMED e SCIELO, utilizando palavras-chave como esporte, odontologia, atletas e saúde bucal de forma combinada e intercalada, utilizando o operador booleano “AND”. O levantamento bibliográfico ocorreu de dezembro de 2014 a julho de 2024, incluindo artigos publicados neste período. Assim, de acordo com as palavras-chave, foram encontrados 503 artigos, em português e inglês. Após uma leitura criteriosa, os artigos foram agrupados por assunto e utilizados na construção do desenvolvimento, obtendo-se 13 trabalhos, porém apenas 10 foram selecionados, conforme o tema proposto, obedecendo aos critérios de inclusão, exclusão e retirada. É de suma importância destacar que a Odontologia do Esporte não está vinculada somente a atletas de elite ou de alto rendimento, mas, também, a pessoas que buscam, por meio de atividades físicas, amenizar complicações decorrentes de doenças, como diabetes, problemas cardíacos, respiratórios e, até mesmo, depressão. Portanto, é necessário que o dentista especialista que atende atletas de todas as idades entenda e acompanhe as demandas (físicas, mentais e emocionais) causadas pela atividade física e treinamento, considerando que lesões bucais podem gerar consequências sistêmicas e causar impactos que restringem a participação do atleta em atividades esportivas, levando a implicações psicológicas e financeiras. Conclui-se que a Odontologia do Esporte é uma nova especialidade que cria profissionais focados em manter ou melhorar o desempenho físico de atletas, por meio da manutenção da saúde bucal, vinculados a um grupo multidisciplinar de especialistas em saúde dentro ou fora de uma instituição esportiva.Sports Dentistry is a new specialty that trains professionals focused on maintaining or improving the physical performance of athletes, through the maintenance of oral health linked to a multidisciplinary group of health specialists inside or outside a sports institution. This literature review aims to explore the importance of sports dentistry today as a new specialization worthy of notoriety, through a review. To carry out this review, articles were searched in the PUBMED and SCIELO databases, using keywords such as sport, dentistry, athletes and oral health in a combined and interspersed manner, using the Boolean operator “AND”. The bibliographic survey took place from December 2014 to July 2024, including articles published in this period. Thus, according to the keywords, 503 articles were found, in Portuguese and English. After a careful reading, the articles were grouped by subject and used in the construction of the development, obtaining 13 works, but only 10 were selected, according to the proposed theme, obeying the inclusion, exclusion and withdrawal criteria. It is extremely important to highlight that Sports Dentistry is not only linked to elite or high-performance athletes, but also to people who seek, through physical activities, to alleviate complications resulting from diseases, such as diabetes, heart problems, respiratory problems and even depression.
