Psycho-social factors associated with mental resilience in the Corona lockdown
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is not only a threat to physical health but is also having severe impacts on mental health. Although increases in stress-related symptomatology and other adverse psycho-social outcomes, as well as their most important risk factors have been described, hardly anything is known about potential protective factors. Resilience refers to the maintenance of mental health despite adversity. To gain mechanistic insights about the relationship between described psycho-social resilience factors and resilience specifically in the current crisis, we assessed resilience factors, exposure to Corona crisis-specific and general stressors, as well as internalizing symptoms in a cross-sectional online survey conducted in 24 languages during the most intense phase of the lockdown in Europe (22 March to 19 April) in a convenience sample of N=15,970 adults. Resilience, as an outcome, was conceptualized as good mental health despite stressor exposure and measured as the inverse residual between actual and predicted symptom total score. Preregistered hypotheses (osf.io/r6btn) were tested with multiple regression models and mediation analyses. Results confirmed our primary hypothesis that positive appraisal style (PAS) is positively associated with resilience (p<0.0001). The resilience factor PAS also partly mediated the positive association between perceived social support and resilience, and its association with resilience was in turn partly mediated by the ability to easily recover from stress (both p<0.0001). In comparison with other resilience factors, good stress response recovery and positive appraisal specifically of the consequences of the Corona crisis were the strongest factors. Preregistered exploratory subgroup analyses (osf.io/thka9) showed that all tested resilience factors generalize across major socio-demographic categories. This research identifies modifiable protective factors that can be targeted by public mental health efforts in this and in future pandemics
The Construction of Climate Justice Imaginaries through Resistance in the Czech Republic and Poland
The chapter provide an overview of disruptive and constructive aspects of resistance during climate camps organised in the Czech Republic and Poland. To do so, it first briefly describes the importance of coal for energy production in these countries. Later it elaborates on the regional characteristics of extraction and energy policy in both states, as well as previous public mobilisations against coal. The empirical part is then divided into two sections. In the first, it provides an overview of disruptive elements of the resistance, conducted against the power that controls the use of lignite reserves. In the second, it focuses on the aspects and conditions through and in which the movement creates a space for new, counter-hegemonic imaginaries
Comparing public support for wildlife protection and climate protection
The main goal of our study is to compare attitudes to climate protection and wildlife protection, as the gap in this field of research – not only in the Czech Republic – persists. In this study we provide a detailed analysis and comparison of the public support for climate protection and wildlife protection using nationally representative data from the Czech Repub-lic. The results of regression analyses have shown that support for both protections is signi-ficantly increasing with growing pro-environmental beliefs of people, leisure time they spent in nature and their altruism. Support for climate protection also rises with higher election participation, left-wing political orientation and younger age. Support for wildlife protection increases with growing trust in non-profit organizations while decreases with growing trust in science & research institutions. The comparison of groups defined according to their con-sent with climate protection and wildlife protection showed that support for wildlife protection can be characterized as a more inclusive environmental attitude than support for climate protection. The paper discusses the implications of these findings for protagonists of environ-mental politics and ways how they approach the public.Hlavním cílem této studie je srovnat postoje veřejnosti k ochraně klimatu a ochraně přírody, neboť v této oblasti výzkumu existuje – nejen v České republice – stále výzkumné bílé místo. V této studii přinášíme podrobnou analýzu a srovnání podpory reprezentativního vzorku české veřejnosti k ochraně klimatu a ochraně divoké přírody. Výsledky regresních analýz ukázaly, že podpora v obou oblastech významně roste s rostoucím proenvironmentál-ním přesvědčením, volným časem tráveným v přírodě a altruismem.

Assessment of Language and Literacy Teachers’ Distance Teaching in COVID-19 Lockdown Time
The COVID-19 pandemic has significant influences globally. For preventing the further epidemic spreading, nationwide regulations were adopted in many countries, one of which was traditional face-to-face teaching activities shifted to distance education model. Both teachers and students faced a great challenge in teaching and learning. For children at the early learning stage, support from language and literacy teachers is not only significantly important for language development but also deeply influences their further interactions with family, school, community. However, little has been known about the preparation, difficulties and needs in digital distance education from the perspective of language and literacy teachers. As the first COVID-19 outbursting place, Wuhanese adopted the lockdown regulation in a short time. Thus, teachers in Wuhan faced the rapid teaching model shifting at the beginning of COVID-19 outbreaking in China. Their digital teaching experiences provided valuable information for the national-ranged educators in China and the global teachers. The current study was aimed to develop an instrument to assess language and literacy tearchers' distance teaching and we examined the psychometric properties in the sample of teachers in Wuhan. The results suggested three dimensions: teaching expertise, teacher-perceived learning motivation, and teacher-student connectedness. Especially, the first two dimensions were critically important from the perspective of measurement internal consistency. This research brings insights to the assessment and related improvements of language and literacy teachers' digital distance teaching
The article summarizes results of the author’s doctoral thesis, which was defended in 2021. The thesis aimed to identify the variability of approaches used by Czech social workers operating in the field of child protection to resolve parental disputes. The research combined both qualitative and quantitative methodology and identified a typology of defensive practice, reflexive practice, and intuitive practice. Individual types differed in the attitudes the child protection social workers expressed towards recognized attributes of best practice, i.e. participation, multidisciplinary cooperation, transparency of processes and neutrality, professionalism and reflexivit

Bayandeleg (1891–1967), who lived in mountain range of Mönhhairhan, became an important and frequently mentioned personality in the oral history and oral tradition of Mönhhairhan sum (Hovd aimag) and Bulgan sum (Bayan-Ölgii aimag), although he was almost unnoticed by archival records and published monographs by local historians. The local community refers to him by various descriptions – lama, exorcist (Tibetan gcod pa), sage etc., but his real life remains unclear and already 50 decades since his decease acquiring a mythicised form. This article will compare oral reports on this person from the local oral tradition and oral history of Mönhhairhan and Bulgan sums. This article presents results of a new decade of research on this personality since my first article on S. Bayandeleg published in 2011
New migration processes and new frontiers for linguistic research
Recent migrations show unprecedented characteristics in terms of migratory routes, individual profiles of migrants and condition of isolation in arrival contexts. Combining sociolinguistic and linguistic perspectives, the article reconstructs the forms of linguistic contact between local and migrant populations in one of the main gateways to Europe, Palermo (Italy), and the specific conditions of local language acquisition by newcomers. It is argued that notions of (im)mobility and segregation must be included in migration-centred linguistic research
