La concepción societaria del Derecho Romano como referente para el perfeccionamiento de la regulación de la cooperativa en Cuba
No full textLuego de que las proyecciones de los Lineamientos se materializaran mediante un importante paquete normativo a finales del año 2012, el análisis sobre las cooperativas en el contexto de la construcción del socialismo en Cuba se ha vuelto a poner en el centro de la atención. En tal sentido, se mantiene como un punto crucial el tema de la naturaleza jurídica de esta institución en el ordenamiento jurídico cubano. Dadas las insuficiencias teóricas y prácticas que se han detectado en el desarrollo cooperativo, conviene recurrir a un enfoque alternativo que puede servir como referente para el perfeccionamiento de la actual regulación legal de las cooperativas en la isla: el de la concepción societaria del Derecho Romano.
Recibido: 16 abril 2018Aceptado: 18 mayo 2018After the projections of the Guidelines materialized by means of an important normative packet of the end of 2012, the analysis of cooperatives in the context of the construction of socialism in Cuba has returned to the center of attention. In this regard, the issue of the legal nature of this institution in the Cuban juridical order remains a crucial point. Given the theoretical and practical inadequacies that have been detected in cooperative development, it is convenient to resort to an alternative approach that can serve as a reference for the improvement of the current legal regulation of cooperatives on the island: that of the societary conception of the Roman Law.

Participación de la mujer en el cooperativismo costarricense (1989-2018)
No full textLa historia de la participación de la mujer en el Cooperativismo costarricense se puede escribir a partir de finales de la década de los ochenta, época en la que la mujer y su aporte al cooperativismo permaneció invisibilizado. Durante tres décadas un reducido grupo de mujeres, con una visión clara sobre la naturaleza jurídico-social de las cooperativas, así como de sus principios, han dado una lucha por lograr una participación político-económica en igualdad de condiciones y con equidad de género, dentro de la organización cooperativa. Los resultados aún no han sido positivos, pese a las políticas públicas del Estado costarricense en esa ruta y un contexto general favorable del cooperativismo mundial, dado que la Alianza Cooperativa Internacional que promueve el establecimiento de una igualdad y equidad a favor de las mujeres cooperativistas en los países de América.
Recibido: 18 diciembre 2018Aceptado: 08 enero 2019The history of the participation of women in Costa Rican cooperativism can be written from the late 1980s, when woman and her contribution to cooperativism remained invisible. During three decades, a small group of women, with a clear vision of the legal-social nature of cooperatives, as well as their principles, have given the struggle to achieve an equitable political- economic participation within the cooperative organization. The results have not yet been positive, despite the public policies of the Costa Rican State in this route and a general favorable context within the global cooperativism movement, where the International Cooperative Alliance promotes the establishment of equality and equity for the cooperative women in the countries of America.

Dignidad y género: la eficacia de la axiología cooperativa en la conformación del principio de la igualdad humana
No full textEn la medida que la humanidad evoluciona en el tiempo y prospera en el espacio, los valores existenciales cambian. La codicia y los intereses de orden material, afectan la estabilidad existencial de las personas. Hombres y mujeres pierden la identidad humana y ocupan espacios sociales en virtud de su condición de género. La diferencia se establece en el seno de las diferentes sociedades globales, y el hombre asume los puestos de poder y de crecimiento social y laboral. Sin embargo, cuando hombres y mujeres sufrían las consecuencias materiales y morales de la Revolución Industrial, la práctica cooperativa instaurada por los Probos Pioneros de Rochdale instituyó un nuevo orden moral, y axiológico, que enalteció la igualdad y la fuerza colectiva para el enfrentamiento de las vicisitudes de la existencia. Los valores cooperativos, entonces, se muestran adecuados a la disminución de la actitud comportamental que afecta la diversidad, y tiraniza la igualdad.

Greed and material interests affect the existential stability of people. Men and women lose their human identity and occupy social spaces by virtue of their gender status. The difference is established within the different global societies, and man assumes positions of power and social and labor growth. However, when men and women suffered the material and moral consequences of the Industrial Revolution, the cooperative practice established by the Rochdale Probos Pioneers instituted a new moral, and axiological, order that enhanced equality and collective strength for the confrontation of vicissitudes of existence. Cooperative values, then, are shown to be adequate to the diminution of the behavioral attitude that affects diversity, and tyrannizes equality.

No full textEste artículo discute la constitución y desarrollo de la rama cooperativa SAÚDE, un modelo cooperativo genuinamente brasileño; fruto del ideal de los médicos en la búsqueda de ofrecer una excelente atención a los usuarios, siempre enfocados a la aplicación práctica de los principios y valores cooperativos, sin olvidar la aplicación de la legislación de regulación cooperativa y los principios constitucionales relevantes para la salud complementaria. Valores, principios, ética y su estructura de cara a la correcta exégesis de las cooperativas de salud.

Debate sobre innovación institucional en el cooperativismo argentino
No full textEn el marco de una legislación flexible, Argentina cuenta con un diversificado conjunto de modelos institucionales para la organización cooperativa. Sin embargo, se presentan situaciones donde se requiere innovar para viabilizar estratégicas asociativas en el campo de la economía digital, economía de cuidados, medios de comunicación y otros estrechamente vinculados al cumplimiento de los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible y a superar las fragilidades sociales que ha puesto en evidencia el Covid-19. Frente a ello, en 2020, se comenzó a debatir sobre nuevas formas cooperativas, lo que dio lugar a dos nuevas resoluciones de la autoridad de aplicación. A partir de ello, se analizan los aspectos críticos y las respuestas encontradas para pensar modelos institucionales inspirados en la experiencia de las cooperativas de múltiples partes interesadas.

However, there are situations where innovation is required to enable associative strategies in the field of the digital economy, the care economy, the media and others closely linked to the fulfillment of the sustainable development objectives and to overcome the social fragility that it has put into evidence of Covid-19. Faced with this, in 2020, a debate began on new cooperative forms, which led to two new resolutions from the enforcement authority. Based on this, the critical aspects and the responses found are analyzed to think about institutional models inspired by the experience of multi-stakeholder cooperatives.

Science, Business, and Policy: A long-term reflection on multidisciplinary work-based learning in a master’s track for societal integration of Science
No full textA strong theoretical approach with a specific focus on disciplinary research characterizes the common science master’s education in the Netherlands. However, a work-based learning (WBL) approach may as well be expedient and suitable for science education at master’s level. In this paper, a case study is presented of a WBL-program designed for an academic setting: the one year Science, Business and Policy (SBP) master’s track, offered at the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Groningen. The paper describes the design and curriculum of the track, including its underlying theoretical framework, courses, multidisciplinary projects and work placements. Based on the SBP-track’s design we identified six possible indicators of a successful elaboration of an academic WBL-program: the SBP-track 1) is designed in response to the Bologna process; 2) is offered fully within the curriculum of a master’s program of a research university; 3) requires a sufficient academic level and disciplinary knowledge at entrée; 4) follows an educational project approach; 5) focuses on the integration and implementation of knowledge, and; 6) applies learning objectives that are specifically formulated to match the WBL educational method. A directed content analysis of SBP work placements revealed an increase in the number of SBP-students between 2003 and 2019, with an overrepresentation of life science students, as well as a large variety of real-case problems addressed for both business and policy organisations diverse in sector, size and region. Students’ grades showed a positive correlation between the initial theoretical preparation and the report made during the work placement. In conclusion, the societal interpretation of the Bologna process has been implemented successfully with SBP, by combining academic learning with gaining professional experience using a WBL-approach.

University in an oil-dependent state economy: The future of Khuzestan higher education
No full textPurpose of the study: The understanding of the complex world and the ability to imagine the futures is the basis for planning and decision-making. Therefore, in this research, the possible future of university in an Iranian oil-dependent economy is studied, and, the best direction for higher education in Khuzestan province is explored. — Methodology: A formative scenario writing research method is used in the current study. The participants were recruited from among Iranian higher education experts purposefully; a series of in-depth interviews including personal and focus group interviews have also been conducted to reach saturation. —Main findings: The results of the present research showed that two main factors affect Khuzestan higher education: dependency on the state economy and increasingly growing social expectation from the university. Khuzestan universities have better select one of these orientations: Conservative University, Enabler University, Adaptive University, and Developmental University. According to the findings of the study, developmental orientation is the preferred scenario for Khuzestan higher education. — Applications of this study: It is argued that the developmental university is the preferred scenario for the future of higher education in Khuzestan Province and a proposal suggests its actualization. — Novelty/originality of this study: The applied scenario-based innovative research attempts to reveal the socio-economic role of universities in societies having State-Economy such as Iran, shows all the possible main paths, and finally determines the preferred path for a specific period of time. The current probe can be directly used to lead higher education policymakers of the province and be indirectly employed to help individuals adopt general orientations in higher education, as well as students and researchers who are interested in higher education studies, especially in the field of Higher Education (HE) public policymaking. Finally identified and explained the developmental university that is compatible with Khuzestan higher education situations is another novelty of this research.
