    The experiment was conducted in 2016 and 2017 in three regions in Oaxaca, Mexico. The design of the study was to evaluate fifteen combinations of tillage and weed management practices at each of the three sites, with each trial consisting of three blocks with a different type of tillage: zero tillage (ZT), minimum tillage (MT) and conventional tillage (CT). The first site is in the “Sitio Experimental Mixteca” research station in Santo Domingo Yanhuitlán, the Mixteca Region, located at 2195 m above sea level (masl), it has Vertisol soils, a temperate subhumid climate. The second site is in the town of San Felipe Zihualtepec in the municipality of San Juan Cotzocón, Papaloapan Region, located at 60 masl and has Luvisol soils, a hot humid climate. The third location was in the town of Ciénega de Zimatlán in the municipality with the same name, Valles Centrales Region. The original site was changed in 2017 to a nearby field, because the collaborating farmer did not want to continue the trial. Both fields are located at 1552 masl, have Vertisol soils, a hot semi-arid climate. Weed management treatments were conducted similarly in all tillage treatments and reflected common local practices and available herbicides or equipment, as well as weather, soil moisture and weed species and comprised combinations of the following: 1) MEC, mechanical control. Weeds were mechanically controlled after reaching 20 cm in height approximately 20-25 days after sowing (DAS), as per the common practice. Weeding was carried out with a hand hoe by 4 to 10 workers per hectare, depending on the quantity of weeds, or using a tractor-drawn cultivator. 2)PRE, pre-emergent herbicide. Only a pre-emergent herbicide with residual effect was applied before sowing. 3) POST, post-emergent herbicide. When weeds reached 5-10 cm in height and based on soil moisture conditions and the types of weeds present, a selective herbicide or direct contact herbicide was applied. 4) PRE+POST, integrated weed management. A pre-emergent herbicide was applied, followed by post-emergence control as necessary, using either selective herbicides or manual controls. 5) CONT, control: No weed management was practiced.     Improvements to local maize production systems need to be developed and validated together with the local farmers in order to generate a lasting impact. Therefore, CIMMYT coordinated, as part of the work in its innovation hub in Chiapas, the installation of side-by-side comparisons of improved practices (innovation modules) as well as field demonstrations of these practices in farmers’ fields (extension areas). In all these fields, agronomic data were captured by the farm advisors and captured into the Bitacora Electronica MasAgro (BEM) electronic logbook. This dataset contains a subset of variables from the BEM database for Chiapas in the years 2012-2018. Agronomic data including yield, cultivar, tillage and fertilization were extracted from BEM. Additionally, slope, texture, soil organic matter concentration, cation exchange capacity and pH were extracted from INEGI. Weather data in 10-day intervals were extracted from DAYMET. The database contains 4585 cropping events collected over seven years in the state of Chiapas, Mexico

    Replication Data for: Bayesian multi-trait kernel methods improve multi-environment genome based prediction

    When multi-trait data are available and the degree of correlation between phenotypic traits is moderate or large, genomic prediction accuracy can increase when models are used that account for correlations between the phenotypic traits. The data files associated with this dataset were used to explore Bayesian multi-trait kernel methods for genomic prediction. Linear, Gaussian, polynomial and sigmoid kernels were studied and compared with the GBLUP multi-trait models. The results of the analysis are reported in the accompanying article

    International Durum Yield Nurseries are replicated yield trials designed to measure the yield potential and adaptation of superior CIMMYT-bred spring durum wheat germplasm that have been developed from tests conducted under irrigation and induced stressed cropping conditions in northwest Mexico. These materials have been subjected to numerous diseases (leaf, stem and yellow rust; Septoria tritici blotch) and varied growing environments.     These journal papers were published under the activities of SRFSI project.The data were collected with the help from DAE, BARI, and RDRS in Bangladesh; ICAR, BAU, UBKV, DoA-WB, Shakhi and JEEViKA in India, NARC and DoA in Nepal and community-based organizations (CBOs) in the region and are thankfully acknowledged. The support received from CSIRO, Curtin University, University of Queensland, the University of New England in Australia; iDE Nepal; IRRI, IWMI, and IFPRI are also greatly appreciated. We thank the farmers, service providers, machinery dealers of EGPs for their co-operation and inputs in implementing on-farm trials. A tremendous progress has been made in achieving milestones/outputs set in the proposal. This level of achievements would not have been possible without collaborators and other stakeholders’ dedicated supports.
