Predicting Land Price Changes in Fukui Prefecture with the Extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen
No full textThis paper predicts the change in land prices in Fukui Prefecture following Hokuriku Shinkansen Fukui Extension. This analysis uses the land price change in Ishikawa Prefecture due to the Kanazawa extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen line. Bullet of the Shinkansen tends to land prices to decrease by 0.074% in Kanazawa city. Based on the results of the regression analysis, this paper predicted the change in land prices for each location in Fukui Prefecture for the two years before and after the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen line. This study finds out that the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line enhances the agglomeration of the city: 1% increase in distance lead the change in land prices before and after the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line tends to change by -0.080%. The opening of the Shinkansen tends to increase by 0.025% where the use status of the land price location is residential.departmental bulletin pape
Mesophilic High-Solid Anaerobic Digestion of Municipal Wastewater Sludge-Effects of Influent Solids Content and Ammonia Stripping
Full text linkThis laboratory-scale study evaluated mesophilic high-solid anaerobic digestion (HSAD) of 9‒11%, 12‒15% and 17‒21% municipal wastewater sludge. At the hydraulic retention time of 20‒30 days, volatile solids (VS) reduction of 53.4‒56.6% and methane generation of 0.275‒0.296 NL/g-VS were obtained on average. At 12‒15% and 17‒21%, ammonia stripping of digested sludge and its return to the digester reduced the average total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) to 2,690 and 3,270 mg-N/L in digester, respectively, mitigating ammonia inhibition. The ammonia stripping, performed at 80℃, initial pH of 9 for 2‒3 hours and the return ratio of 100‒120%, showed TAN removal of 63.4‒74.5%. Microbial diversity became poorer with the influent level. Dewatering was achieved by the two-chemical conditioning with ferric chloride and an amphoteric polymer. Overall, the mesophilic HSAD in the wide and high solid range is feasible, as far as measures against high TAN and poor mixing is properly taken.departmental bulletin pape
Record development of Japanese top male high school sprinters during university periods.
No full textThe purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the record development of top Japanese male high school sprinters at university period. For 847 male competitors (100m: 296, 200m: 275, 400m: 276) ranked in the top 100 of the Japanese high school rankings for boys 100m, 200m and 400m in 2014-2018, we examined their high school personal best record (high school PB), university PB and record development during university The main results were as follows: (1) For 100 m, high school PB: 10.63±0.10s, university PB: 10.62±0.22s, record development during university: 0.00±0.20s, probability of breaking a PB during university: 54.7% (162 out of 296). (2) For 200 m, high school PB: 21.49±0.20s, university PB: 21.52±0.51s, record development during university: -0.04±0.47s, probability of breaking a PB during university: 49.5% (136 out of 275). (2) For 400 m, high school PB: 47.97±0.51s, university PB: 48.14±1.22s, record development during university: -0.17±1.09s, probability of breaking a PB during university: 48.2% (133 out of 276). These results suggest that the first goal of coaching university sprinters should be to break their high school PBs.departmental bulletin pape

Study of in-situ measuring device for γ-ray irradiation of PVA-KI gel dosimeter
No full textIn recent years, in radiation cancer therapy, a technique for easily visualizing radiation and evaluating accurate dose distribution is required. In our laboratory, we have developed a gel dosimeter made from PVA, KI, borax, and fructose, which have the same composition as biological components. Furthermore, in order to clarify the effect of radiation irradiation on the PVA-KI gel dosimeter, we developed a separate type in-situ measurement device that enables in-situ measurement of light absorption of the gel during irradiation. In this study, in order to clarify the characteristics of the PVA-KI gel as a dosimeter, we compared the measurement results using a separate in-situ measurement device and the measurement results using an ionization chamber. Furthermore, we tried to clarify the characteristics of γ-ray irradiation to PVA-KI gel by comparing with the results of X-ray irradiation.departmental bulletin pape
A case study on effectiveness of strength training for a student golfer : Focusing on the length of time it takes to turn from amateur to professional
No full textThis study aimed to investigate the effects of approximately six months of strength training practice on maximal strength and power in a male student golfer, an amateur-turned-pro golfer. The results showed that the subject experienced an increase in lean body mass, one repetition maximum of bench press and half-squat, and in CMJ jumping height. Moreover, during competition season, the average stroke counts of the subject decreased after training. In a tournament in which professionals competed, the subjects who were amateurs won the championship , indicating that strength training had an indirect positive effect on golf performance. It was found that the interruption of strength training at the beginning of the competition season had a positive effect on golf performance by providing time for competitive golf practice. However, a long interruption in training, approximately six months, had a smaller effect on lean body mass but was associated with a decrease in maximal strength and power performance.departmental bulletin pape
Comparison on the Word-final Nasals between Japanese and English
No full textSyllable final nasals have a language-specific duration among languages. There have been studies on syllable-final nasals but not on word-final nasals. This paper conducted a recording experiment to calculate the durational ratio of word-final nasals between English and Japanese. The analysis revealed that the ratio of syllable initial nasal to word-final counterpart in English was 1:1.53 and that of Japanese was 1:2.33 and found that Japanese word-final nasals are significantly longer than English ones. In future experiments, the recordings obtained through the current experiment are going to be edited and used to find out the durational threshold for Japanese listeners to recognize a word-final consonant.departmental bulletin pape
