Effect of Nickel Content in Electrostatically Shielding Materials on the Sensitivity of ICP Mass Spectrometry

    Get PDF
In order to investigate the effect of nickel content in electrostatically shielding materials on the sensitivity of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), nine kinds of materials were selected. By using the electrostatic shield made of stainless steel (SUS304), signal-to-background ratios of analyte elements became the largest regardless of spectral interference caused by argon molecular ions. On the other hand, the optimum radio-frequency power depended on the presence or absence of the above spectral interference. More detailed studies from the viewpoint of chemical and physical properties of shielding materials are required for the further improvement of the sensitivity of ICP-MS.departmental bulletin pape

Introduction of Psychology Education to Enhance Critical Thinking for Freshmen

    Get PDF
This study examined the effect of implementation to enhance critical thinking skills in a subject for High School/University Articulation and “Introduction to Psychology" class for freshmen. College students had taken lesson in critical thinking at once of 15-times class in a subject for High School/University Articulation, and in part of one lesson in “Introduction to Psychology" class. College students did worksheets after receiving lectures about critical thinking in both classes. In the follow-up study had about one year after the class of a subject for High School/University Articulation had finished, the results of the implementing group demonstrated significantly higher level of critical thinking disposition questionnaire than the control group. But, no significant results have been demonstrated at pre- and post-test for students in “Introduction to Psychology" class. From the results, it suggested that it is necessary to design and implement the teaching materials and method for enhancing students' critical thinking skills.departmental bulletin pape

    Green Emotion

    Get PDF
At the 5th Kobe Biennale, Kondo and Kasai applied for the Green Art Competition prize and won honorable mention with their interactive art work entitled “Green Emotion" projecting an interactive images on living green wall. The living green wall of plants being raised indoors for the first time, made use of an automatic water supply device and reached the height of 8meters. Images were programmed to react to the movement of the elevator and were projected into the green wall. By winning with “Green Emotion", the green wall was recognized as having the potential of being an art work with expectations for its future development.departmental bulletin pape

Seismic Performance Evaluation of Traditional Wooden Farmhouse Adjoining to Dojo

    Get PDF
This study is planed to confirm the seismic performance for existing traditional wooden house in Fukui prefecture. From structural detail observation of a wooden farmhouse with unofficial Buddhist facilities called Dojo in Sabae city, the structure characteristics, the distribution of the seismic structure elements and the aging degradation are clarified. Based on the seismic diagnostic method, the required seismic force and the holding horizontal load-carrying capacity of the surveyed traditional wooden house are evaluated and the seismic performances are estimated.departmental bulletin pape

Location Measurement of Remotely Operated Vehicle in Rainwater Harvesting Tank Using Bluetooth Low Energy

    Get PDF
In recent years, rainwater harvesting systems have drawn renewed attention from not only usage of natural resources but also flood mitigation under torrential rainfall in urban areas. To spread the systems in urban areas, it is necessary to consider cost-effective tank maintenance, such as how to check tank conditions frequently and how to maintain clean condition inside the tank. To do this, use of underwater robot is one of possible solutions. In this paper, we firstly review the current rainwater harvesting technologies. Then, we also explain the current underwater robots and their location measurement technologies. Finally, we demonstrate from our experiment with combination of OpenROV and Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE)that it is possible to measure location of underwater robot for cost-effective maintenance under a limited condition.departmental bulletin pape

Development of Low-Cost Weather Sensor System Intended to Application for Agriculture

    Get PDF
Introduction of Information Technologies(IT)is essential for activation of agriculture in community scale and for development of food security system in the world scale. A weather sensor is one of such IT tools because not to mention the weather information is very important for growth diagnosis and growing management of agricultural products. In fact, weather sensor has been used in the field of the gardening actually. However, weather sensor is not so widely used in the case of outdoor and low-cost type crops such as paddy rice because the conventional weather sensor costs a lot relatively to the profit; the weather sensor must have his own power and communication systems in the outdoor. But, technology about IoT has made progress substantially and very low-cost and useful devices have become available in recent years. In the context, we have developed low-cost weather sensor system which works in the outdoor with his own power and communication system.departmental bulletin pape

An On-the-spot Inspection in Safety of the Pedestrian-vehicle Separation Signal A Case of Nishinotoin-dori St., Kyoto City

    Get PDF
In this study, I investigated the pedestrian-vehicle separation signal of the residents were pointed out dangerous, a case of Nishinotoin-dori St. in Kyoto city. In the purpose, I inspected through field survey at ensuring safety especially for pedestrian of weak people in transportation. As a result, I clarified to avoidance behavior by the cyclists and the pedestrians which for cyclist was crossing to the zebra crossing at the pedestrian signal. The automobile which unreasonable enters an intersection was to obstruct crossing the pedestrian in the zebra crossing. In the future, it is necessary to make an appealing crossing plan that that pedestrians, bicycle users and automobile users can move safely, reliably and comfortably in the city.departmental bulletin pape

Deterioration Characteristics of Bridges Fukui and Fukui Prefecture

    Get PDF
The bridge maintenance strategy has been established for all bridges with long spans of more than 15m in Fukui prefecture. However, the deterioration characteristics of bridges are simply expressed in linear equations with small number of inspection data of bridges in the strategy. In this study, the deterioration transfer curves of each member elements of bridges in Fukui city and Fukui prefecture are introduced by using the inspection data. The deterioration transfer curve are classified with rapid, standard and slow velocity deteriorations. The deterioration characteristics of bridges are respectively discussed for bridges in Fukui city and Fukui prefecture. Furthermore, the deterioration characteristics of bridges of salt damage, frost damage environments and ASR suspected are also discussed.departmental bulletin pape

Fabrication and Characterization of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell by using Biomass Material

    Get PDF
We demonstrated the fabrication and characterization of dye-sensitized solar cells by using biomass material. Specifically, we fabricated the biomass base platinum-electrodes. The solar cells had a photovoltaic conversion efficiency (η) of 1.36% under AM 1.5G at 100 × 10-3W m-2. Additionally, the photovoltaic performance at the higher efficiency was obtained by using counter-electrode with a platinum-thickness of~100 × 10-9m. These results indicate that our techniques can be used for future research on the fabrication of biomass materials based eco-devices.departmental bulletin pape

Valuation of Fluid Velocity Based on the Experiment Focused on Tsunami

    Get PDF
At 14:46 local time on March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake occurred off the coast of northeast Japan. This earthquake caused a tsunami which attacked Japan as well as a wide range of localities around the Pacific Ocean. The degree and extent of damage caused by the earthquake and resulting tsunami were enormous, with most of the damage being caused by the Tsunami. After that, hydrodynamic force of Tsunami acting on bridge studied both numerically and experimentally. However, design codes are not established. In this report, we focus on relationship between Tsunami force and flotsam. At first, the canal for experiment was surveyed by level and vertical measurement. Next, we conducted fluid velocity by experiment using some flotsams, and considered relationship between retreated value and water level.departmental bulletin pape
