The Aesthetic Authority of Law: Experiments with Legal Form
No full textThe legal form dictates the contours of law’s appearance. Texts are neatly divided into (often) numbered paragraphs. Pages must conform to specified layouts. Conventions regulate the use of fonts, punctuation and colours. Legal terms of art replace colloquial expressions. Human experiences enter legal texts only in mediated, sanitized forms. The dictats of legal form are all but incidental. They condition law’s authority. By repeatedly modifying the Case of the S.S. Lotus (Permanent Court of International Justice 1927), this book invites readers to consider how modifications of law’s appearance alter law’s authority.

No full textDe trycksaker som slängs bort och betraktas som oviktiga i en viss tid blir ovärderlig evidens i en annan.
Restaurangmenyer, filmaffischer, priskuranter, årsredovisningar, kataloger, reklam, föreningstryck, kartor, almanackor, kommunaltryck och tidtabeller är exempel på det som brukar kallas vardagstryck. Det utgör ca 90 procent av allt som årligen trycks vid svenska tryckerier. Det är trycksaker tänkta att leva en kort tid och därefter kastas men som, om de sparas, utgör en viktig del av nationens minne. Sedan 1661 respektive 1698 erhåller Kungliga biblioteket och Lunds universitetsbibliotek ett pliktexemplar av allt som trycks i Sverige - och sparar det för all framtid. Vardagstrycket finns inte förtecknat i bibliografier eller kataloger och går inte att köpa. Anpassa eller frigöra: Åtta studier om pedagogikens uppdrag
No full textBirgit Schaffar är docent i pedagogikens filosofi vid Helsingfors universitet. I åtta studier tar hon sina läsare med på vad hon kallar ett filosofiskt återvinningsarbete för att få syn på vad pedagogikens uppdrag borde vara idag. Hon ger exempel på aktuella diskussioner om pedagogikens möjligheter och utmaningar där pedagogik beskrivs som en enkelriktad anpassning av den nya generationen till de rådande samhälleliga ramar som styr vårt nuvarande liv. Som motvikt och kontrast påminner hon om vad pedagogiken förmår vara om vi istället ser den som en väg till frigörelse.
Med Hannah Arendt, Simone de Beauvoir, Simone Weil, Paulo Freire, bell hooks och Vanessa Machado de Oliveira beskriver Schaffar pedagogik som en gemensam, granskande dialog mellan generationer. I denna generationsöverskridande dialog är alla tillfrågade att reflektera över hur vi lever våra liv just nu, samt att ta ställning till vad som är viktigt, också med tanke på kommande generationer
Urban Creativity: Essays on interventions in public space
No full textPublic space is fundamental to democracy. It is a common arena that we all have the right to use. In Urban Creativity, nine European researchers from different disciplines describe how subcultures utilize public space. The essays are about graffiti and street art, the Occupy movement, the umbrella protests in Hong Kong and the Freeparty movement. These are examples of interventions in the city that aim to temporarily or permanently change the meaning, function or accessibility of urban public space.
The book is the result of an interdisciplinary research collaboration initiated in 2018 at the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies at Lund University on the theme of Urban Creativity.Public space is fundamental to democracy.
