Parts of the figure are blackened, the face is missing, and the waist is incomplete. The arms are raised and help up to its chest. State of the figure indicates it was burnt. Fragments of the statue were found seperately and then assembled. The figure is made of ivory gold, serpentinite, and rock crystal. The figure represents a male god according to standard interpretations

The English writing on the Memorial stone notes that the tomb is for Gustaf Adolf Sass who lived from 1793-1826
Stone Chair or Altar

The student cataloger's name can be found in the dc.contributor.advisor field.Four flat stone blocks with a flat top band base but an hourglass shaped midsection. The four stones come together to make a flat surface likely only one to two feet off the ground, and there is a sperate, large stone slab perpendicular and against the wall to create a back for this chair. The entire structure is built into a stone wall, and the shadows over the area as well as the sunken surroundings suggest that this area is below ground. Although this photograph was taken from the side, Horns of Consecration seem to decorate the top of the seating area, possibly suggesting that this was a throne. The flat-topped stones are in the shape of Minoan altars

This is an excerpt from the exhibition brochure: "In 1970, the celebrated singer and activist Nina Simone and the poet Weldon Irvine released the song, ?To Be Young, Gifted, and Black,? which became an anthem commemorating the achievements of the African American community during the Black Power movement. Nearly fifty years later, this exhibition, drawn from the Lumpkin-Boccuzzi Family Collection of Contemporary Art, celebrates Simone?s prideful call to action. Young, Gifted, and Black?with over forty contemporary artworks made in the last thirty-five years?arrives at a moment of unprecedented visibility for black artists who have historically been underrepresented in museums and major collections. Younger-generation voices, in dialogue with established predecessors, explore questions of race, sexuality, power, and history, while also pushing the boundaries of artistic practice. Some of the works on view address the daily, real-world struggles of African Americans, while others focus on more personal?and more universal?questions of identity.We hope that this exhibition will inspire your own investigation into the same questions these young and gifted artists are asking."
