TAMSAT Daily Rainfall Estimates
The dataset comprises high resolution (0.0375 degrees) satellite-derived daily rainfall estimates for all Africa from January 1983 to December 2015 (data from 2016 onwards can be downloaded from the TAMSAT website: http://www.tamsat.org.uk/). The dataset is derived from the TAMSAT African Rainfall Climatology And Time-series (TARCAT) dataset (1983-present). Valuing insect pollinators for UK apple production
Data on the effectiveness of different pollinator taxa for apple pollination collected from flight cage manipulations record the effects of different numbers of floral visits by four pollinator species on fruit set and seed set in apples. Field data on flower visitation to different varieties of UK apple orchards in Kent are recorded as number of visits made by different pollinator taxa during transect walks or stationary observations. Data from experimental manipulations to determine the dependence on insect pollination of these apple varieties record fruit set, seed set and apple quality between open pollinated and pollinator-excluded treatments
The effect of thermal denaturation on physiochemical and sensory properties of whey protein
The effects of denaturation of reconstituted (10% w/v in deionised water) whey protein concentrate (80% protein) on physiochemical and sensory properties were studied. A native sample (WPC00) was compared to samples heated at 70 degrees Celcius for 5, 10 and 20 min (WPC05, WPC10, and WPC20).
pH; absorbance of 680nm wavelength light; particle size in the upper, lower, and bulk of sensory samples; zeta potential; and rheology were studied. Qualitative descriptive analysis was carried out using 12 trained panelists scoring in duplicate using a consensus vocabulary of 34 attributes. Sequential profiling was carried out with 9 trained panelists scoring in duplicate. Samples were presented as 8 aliquots and scored during consumption, 30s after consumption, and 60s after consumption

Volcanic Ash Workshop Survey Results
Survey results from the 22 February 2016 Volcanic Ash Workshop with user groups from research and operations. Users included pilots, the civil aviation association, representatives from airlines, engine manufacturers, forecasters from the UK Met Office, and researchers from academia. Survey was a decision-making game for flight paths given different forecasts. The purpose of the survey was to see how decisions change if given different risk levels or different ways of displaying the information
Analyses of the relationship between photoperiod sensitivity and flowering duration in wheat
Wheat lines differing in photoperiod sensitive allele were grown in pots under controlled and under ambient environment conditions. Flowering assessments included records of individual floret phenotype throughout the course of anthesis for the first 5 spikes per plant for each genotype. The plants under the controlled environment conditions were grown under two temperature regimes: cool and warm. The start and end of flowering for each spike and plant for each of the replicates for each genotype are given in addition to flowering duration for 2011 and 2012 (pot based ambient) and for 2012 (controlled environment)

Delivering biodiversity and pollination services on farmland: a comparison of three wildlife-friendly farming schemes
Data on the species and abundances of bees, butterflies, hoverflies, birds and plants found on farms together with data on the pollination services and species and densities of flowers, from twelve farms in the south of England. Triplets of farms were selected from four regions. All farms in each triplet were in the Government's Entry Level Stewardship scheme, one from each triplet was organic and one from each triplet was in the Conservation Grade scheme. For the four organic and four Conservation Grade farms, three were also in the Government�s Higher Level Stewardship scheme. A representative sample of all habitats on each farm was surveyed.
The pollinator groups recorded were bees, butterflies and hoverflies. Bees and butterflies were recorded to species level as far as possible in all years and hoverflies were counted in 2012 and 2013 and recorded to species level as far as possible in 2014. Data from pollinator transects are from 2012, 2013 and 2014 and data from pan traps are from 2012 and 2013. The pollinator survey data have associated habitat and weather data. Pollination service data are from Californian poppy phytometer plants placed on farms in 2013. Flower and bird data are from 2013 and 2014
Interviews of Experts in Decision Making: Robust Assessment and Communication of Environmental Risk (RACER)
Interviews from winter 2016-2017 from a variety of producers and users of natural hazard information, including energy companies, environmental councils, public health, and insurance. The purpose of the interviews was to determine what kind of natural hazard information these sectors use and how they are presented. Results from the interviews informed surveys that were conducted as part of the Robust Assessment and Communication of Environmental Risk (RACER) project conducted under the Probability, Uncertainty & Risk in the Environment (PURE) Consortium. Participants were recruited by snowball sampling through a recruitment email. All transcripts have been edited to remove identifying information
