PERCEIVED IMPACT OF DIGITIZATION ON THE RESEARCH PRODUCTIVITY OF LIBRARIANS IN NIGERIA.
This work is focused on establishing how digitization of library information materials affects the research productivity of Librarians in Nigeria. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and the purposive sampling technique was employed in selecting 20 libraries that have digitized their information resources. Ten librarians, each from the universities were randomly selected for the study, making the sample size 200. Self-constructed questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS software. The outcome revealed that the types of information resources digitized by the libraries include theses and dissertations, research works published in local journals, conference papers, and inaugural lectures. Opportunities presented by digitization that impact the research productivity include; enhanced access to existing local scholarly works, giving visibility to individual and institutional research output, making researchers discoverable, and exposing them to the knowledge of other researchers in their areas of interest for collaboration purposes, etc. The perceived impacts of digitization on the research productivity of librarians are; enhanced quality of research, enhanced research output, high citation impacts, created room for multi-disciplinary, national, and international collaborations, and made them visible to grantors and funding bodies. The major challenges hindering the effective utilization of these resources include; irregular Internet access, limited awareness of the availability of the resources, infrastructure limitations, and erratic power supply. 
Business Information Sharing and Career Goal Orientation among Undergraduate Library and Information Science Students at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti
This study examined the interaction between business information sharing and career goal orientation among undergraduate library and information science students, at Federal University Oye-Ekiti. Six research questions were analysed to uncover the key determinants of business information sharing .The research employed a cross-sectional survey reserach design. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire. Findings from the study revealed a positive career goal orientation among LIS undergraduates. The results show that the Adjusted R-square of 59.7% (F=18.797, p<0.05) indicates that the selected factors explain a significant proportion of the variance in career goal orientation. The analysis revealed several significant relationships: not being motivated enough (β=3.492, p<0.05), the perception that shared business information is not appreciated (β=-4.290, p<0.05), fear of providing incorrect information (β=1.602, p<0.05), in-depth relationships with colleagues (β=-.997, p<0.05), some colleagues showing off their knowledge (β=.827, p<0.05), and fear of being outperformed by colleagues (β=-1.573, p<0.05). In contrast, factors like being busy with note-taking, lack of belief in shared business ideas, colleagues\u27 pride, and lack of rewards did not have a significant influence. The findings suggest that fostering a supportive and appreciative environment, providing training on effective information sharing, and promoting a collaborative culture could help address the key barriers to business information sharing among LIS undergraduates
Availability and Utilisation of Library Resources and Services by Students and Faculty of Tai Solarin University of Education
This study investigated the availability and utilisation of the library resources and services by the students and faculty staff of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun,Ogun State. A survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised 10,724 undergraduates, 250 post-graduate students and 278 faculties. 986 undergraduates were selected as sampled using stratified random sampling technique while total enumeration method was used to capture the postgraduate students and faculty staff which implied that these two were all selected. Questionnaire was the main instrument for data collection and was supplemented with Focus Group Discussion. The finding revealed that the inadequacy of library resources and services were inadequate while the level of utilisation of library resources and services by respondents, was low. Major hindrances to the utilisation of library resources and services included inadequate skills needed for rendering information services by librarians, lack of awareness of availability of library resources and services by users, and inadequate library opening hours. The results showed that there was significant difference in the utilisation of library resources by the students ( = 58.58) and by the faculty ( = 38.88) Moreover, there was a significant relationship between the availability and utilisation of library resources by students (r value is -0.150) and by faculty ( r value is -0.160) . The findings also revealed that there was significance difference in the utilisation library services by students ( = 57.74) and by faculty ( = 44.18). The study concluded that the library collection was inadequate and there is significant relationship between availability and utilisation of library resources among the respondents while several factors hindered the availability and utilisation of the resources and services of the university library. Recommendations like increased need for the library to acquire more relevant materials to boost the present collection which is inadequate, among others were proffered.
CULTURAL LAG AND SOCIETAL MORAL DECADENCE IN NIGERIA: A RETHINK
This study interrogates the interplay between cultural lag and the rising tide of moral decadence in contemporary Nigerian society. Drawing on Ogburn’s theory of cultural lag and Durkheim’s concept of anomie, the paper examines how rapid material and technological progress have outpaced moral and ethical adaptation, resulting in a weakened moral fabric. Using qualitative research methods, data were gathered through purposive interviews with community leaders, religious clerics, educators, and selected youth groups, complemented by documentary analysis of existing studies on cybercrime, corruption, and cultural transformation in Nigeria. Thematic analysis was employed to interpret the findings. The results show that cultural lag manifests in various forms, including cybercrime, political corruption, the weakening of family and religious institutions, and the glamorization of materialism in popular culture. These trends have directly undermined sustainable development by discouraging innovation, weakening civic responsibility, and misdirecting resources. The study concludes that addressing cultural lag is essential for tackling moral decadence and recommends an integrated approach that combines ethical education, institutional reform, and cultural reorientation. 
SEMIOTIC RESISTANCE AND CULTURAL LAG IN ABI DARÉ’S THE GIRL WITH THE LOUDING VOICE
This study applies semiotic analysis to Abi Daré’s The Girl With The Louding Voice, exploring how signs, symbols, and language construct meaning within the novel and reflect cultural lag in gender equality and education. Drawing on the theories of Ferdinand de Saussure, Roland Barthes, and Roman Jakobson, the paper examines how the protagonist, Adunni, embodies the conflict between outdated patriarchal traditions and contemporary educational aspirations. While legal frameworks and modern ideologies promote female empowerment, the persistence of child marriage, female subjugation, and linguistic oppression highlights the dissonance between societal progress and ingrained cultural norms. Through an analysis of cultural codes, linguistic structures, and narrative techniques, this study demonstrates how the novel critiques the slow adaptation of African societies to modern gender rights discourses. By decoding the novel’s semiotic elements, this paper reveals how literature serves as a tool for challenging cultural lag and advocating for social change. 
USING EULER DECONVOLUTION AND SOURCE PARAMETER IMAGING (SPI) OF GRAVITY DATA FOR DEPTH-TO-BASEMENT DETERMINATION IN PARTS OF SOUTHEASTERN NIGERIA
Ground gravity data were interpreted in parts of Southeastern Nigeria using Euler deconvolution. This study estimates the depth of basement rocks and identifies possible geological and geophysical features. The study area is between longitude 70E to 80E and latitude 5030’N to 6030’N within the Southeastern part of Nigeria and covers aspects of Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia, Imo, and Cross River State. The digitized data from the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) by Ground Survey were processed and interpreted to get the basement\u27s depth in Southeastern Nigeria. The Bouguer gravity data imported from the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet into Geosoft were gridded using the miniature curvature interface and then residualized. The separation of the regional and residual anomalies followed this. The Bouguer gravity anomaly grid, the regional grid, and the residual grid were all reprojected from geographical coordinates (Latitude and Longitude) to the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) in meters. The interpretation of gravity data using Euler deconvolution was used to specify the Structural Index (SI). The results indicate that contact faults can be interpreted with an SI of 0.0, while dyke or sill with an SI of 1.0. The scattered Euler deconvolution solution suggests that the intrusive body extends well beyond the study area. The result reveals that the fault, though more than one on the surface in the study area, trends NE – SW. The estimated depth to the basement ranges from 3584.9 m to 7992 m. The SPI data show a minimum depth of 237.49m and a maximum depth of 82748.37m, with an average depth of 3100.174m, but the actual value, as shown on the grid map, is 12678.8 m for the most profound source to the basement and 398.5 m for the shallowest source to the basement. This depth range and fault observed could influence the accumulation of minerals and hydrocarbon in the study area
CANONICAL CORRELATION ANALYSIS OF OVULATION INTERVAL, BODY WEIGHT AND AGE, HEIGHT OF SELECTED REPRODUCTIVE WOMEN
It is the wish of most women to be reproductive, possibly bearing children of desired gender, and as well maintain good body weight. Fecundity depends highly on ovulation while body weight, to a high extent depends on height. It is the aim of this study to analyze the Canonical Correlation between Ovulation Interval, Body Weight, on one hand, and Age, Height, on the other, of selected reproductive women classified respectively as the and the variables. The women selected for the study were reproductive (those who are still within the childbearing age and/or experiencing ovulation). Questionnaires were distributed with which their specific information were obtained. The data were analyzed using the R software version Rx64.4.0.0. The canonical variates were obtained and the corresponding canonical correlations were determined. The significance of the canonical correlation were tested and observed to be significant at the 0.05 level of significance. The implication of which is that the first and second canonical variates are statistically correlated, with unit variance and maximum correlation
APPLICATION OF SEISMIC REFRACTION TOMOGRAPHY TO PROFFER SOLUTION TO BUILDING COLLAPSE IN AMAWBIA AND ITS ENVIRONS, SOUTH EAST, NIGERIA.
Geophysical method of seismic refraction tomography to evaluate the allowable bearing pressure of Amawbia and its environs, South East, Nigeria with the aim to proffer solution to building collapse was used in this study. A 24- channel seismograph with its accessories were used to acquire data. A total of four profiles were conducted within the area. The interpretation of data was done in order to determine the velocities of the various layers using a software called Reflex w. The interpretation of data revealed that in all the areas investigated, three seismic velocities layers were delineated. The first layer has velocity that ranged between 536 m/sand 854 m/s, the second layer has P-wave velocity ranged between 699 m/s and 1398 m/s while the P-wave velocity of the last layer ranged between 944 m/s and 2214 m/s. The velocities obtained from the interpretation of the data were used to determine the allowable bearing pressure. The allowable bearing pressure of the first layer ranged between 136 N/m2 and 156 N/m2, the second layer ranged between 190 N/m2 and 286 N/m2 while the allowable bearing pressure of the last layer ranged between 275 N/m2 and 442 N/m2 respectively. Finally, the results revealed that high rise buildings in this area is recommended to be founded in the second layer
A HYBRID BLOCK METHOD FOR DIRECT SOLUTION OF GENERAL FOURTH ORDER ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
Many problems in applied sciences and engineering, such as static deflection of a uniform beam, fluiddynamics, neural networks, electric circuits, and the illposed problem of a beam on elastic foundation oftenresult to fourth-order initial value problem of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). In this study a directsolution for the general fourth-order initial value problems of (ODEs) was derived using Linear Multi-stepMethod. Power series and its derivatives are adopted as basis function and differential for the purpose ofinterpolation and collocation respectively. This interpolation and collocation are carried out at selectednodal and off-nodal points to generate a set of linear equations. Solving these equations give the values forthe unknown coefficient parameters to be used to determine the required continuous method after necessarysimplification. The additional methods are obtained for the implementation of the main methods in blockmode. The basic properties of the hybrid methods is established to confirm their usability, accuracy andefficiency. Accuracy and efficiency of the methods is determined by applying the derived methods to solvelinear and non-linear test problems. CHALLENGES OF INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING MATHEMATICS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL: PERSPECTIVES FROM TEACHERS IN AWKA SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT EDUCATION AUTHORITY
The integration of technology into primary school mathematics teaching presents numerous challenges for teachers. Despite the potential benefits of technology in enhancing mathematics instruction, teachers face significant obstacles in its implementation. This study aims to identify and analyse the specific challenges teachers encounter when integrating technology into primary school mathematics lessons. Two research questions guided the study. A survey research design was adopted for the study. A 30-item questionnaire titled Challenges of Integrating Technology in Primary School Mathematics Teaching (CITPSMT), was validated by three experts and pilot-tested (Cronbach’s α = 0.79–0.85), was used for data collection. The population of study was 1440 teachers in the 45 primary schools in Awka South Local Government Education Authority. The sample was 150 teachers randomly drawn from primary schools in Awka South LGEA. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyse the data collected. The study revealed that teachers struggle with issues related to insufficient training, lack of resources, and difficulties in aligning technology with curriculum standards. These findings highlight the need for targeted professional development and increased investment in technological resources to support teachers in effectively integrating technology into their mathematics teaching. It was recommended among others that schools should invest in comprehensive professional development programs that address both the technical and pedagogical aspects of technology use and adequate digital tools should be provided to schools by the government
