OFFICE APPLICATION SOFTWARE SKILLS NEEDED FOR EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF OFFICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT EDUCATION CURRICULUM IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION SOUTH-SOUTH NIGERIA
The study ascertained office application software skills needed for effective implementation of Office Technology and Management Education (OTME) curriculum in colleges of education in South-South, Nigeria. A research question guided the study. Two null hypotheses were formulated. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population comprised 234 business education lecturers in the nine public colleges of education in South-South, Nigeria. The entire population was studied without sampling because the size was not too large. The instrument for data collection was 21-item structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and value of 0.72 was obtained. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research question, while t-test and ANOVA were used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that business education lecturers highly needed office application (software) skills for effective implementation of OTME curriculum in colleges of education in South-South, Nigeria. Gender and years of teaching experience did not significantly influence their mean ratings on needed office application (software) skills. Based on the findings, it was concluded that office application (software) skills listed in this study are needed by business education lecturers for effective implementation of OTME curriculum in colleges of education in South-South, Nigeria. Recommended among others, is that there should be constant training and re-training of OTME business education lecturers on the use of office application (software) for implementing the OTME curriculum
EFFECT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION ON ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION OF BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS: THE ROLES OF PASSION AND CREATIVITY
of entrepreneurship education in higher education institutions to facilitation readiness for work or become entrepreneurs among fresh graduates. Drawing on theory of planned behaviour, this study explores the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intentions of business education students. The study also explored the mediating roles of entrepreneurial passion and creativity in the relation. As a cross-sectional survey, data was collected from 165 final year students of Business Education from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, using scales that measure the constructs of the study. Applying path analytical model based on structural equation modelling (SEM), data were anylyzed to explore direct and indirect effects. Findings reveal that entrepreneurial education has a direct and positive relationship with entrepreneurial intention, such that entrepreneurial passion and creativity mediated the model. Hence, indirect relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention was found via passion and creativity. The implications of the findings are discussed.
BURNOUT SYMPTOMS AND VOCATIONAL BUSINESS EDUCATORS’ TURNOVER INTENTIONS: A STUDY OF NIGERIA’S PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN SOUTH-SOUTH
On the bases of the theoretical and conceptual frameworks, the central aim of the study was twofold. First, it examines the levels of burnout with each symptom (i.e. exhaustion, mental distance, cognitive disorder and emotional disorder) and Vocational Business Educators’ turnover intentions. Second, the study tested a conceptual model that incorporates direct relationships between burnout with each symptom (i.e. exhaustion, mental distance, cognitive disorder and emotional disorder) and Vocational Business Educators’ turnover intentions. A quantitative research design was adopted toactualize the aim of this study. The participants consisted of 138 Vocational Business Educators from 13 Nigeria’s Public Universities in South-South. The authors applied descriptive statistics (e.g. Mean and Standard Deviation), and inferential statistics (e.g. Spearman\u27s rho correlation and linear regression via 10000 resamples bootstrap estimate). The results showed that the levels ofburnout with each symptom (i.e. exhaustion, mental distance, cognitive disorder and emotional disorder) and Vocational Business Educators’ turnover intention were very high. The results further showed that burnout with each symptoms (i.e. exhaustion, mental distance, cognitive disorder and emotional disorder) were significant positive predictors of Vocational Business Educators’ turnover intentions. Furthermore, limitations of the study and implications of the results were discussed
CONSTRAINTS TO EFFICIENT USE OF MACHINE LEARNING IN TEACHING BUSINESS EDUCATION COURSE CONTENTS IN DELTA STATE UNIVERSITIES
The study investigated the perceived challenges to comprehensively using machine learning in the delivery of business education courses in Delta State universities. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, three research questions were raised and three null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance guided the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised of fifty-two (52) business education lecturers in three government owned universities in Delta State. The entire population was studied. A structured questionnaire titled “Constraints to efficiently using machine learning in teaching business education course content (CEUMLTBECC)" was used for data collection. The research instrument was validated by three experts in the Department of Business Education in Delta State University, Abraka. The study adopted the Cronbach Alpha reliability method to ascertain the consistency of the research instrument. It yielded a co-efficient of 0.93 adjudged reliable for this study. The descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions, while an independent t-test was adopted to test the null hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that that financial limitations, human financial constraints, human resources, and skills constraints, institutional and managerial constraints enormously impacted the comprehensive use of machine learning in the delivery of business education courses in universities in Delta State. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended amongst others: higher institutions should delve into partnership with private technology firms and nongovernmental organizations to procure financial resources and technical support.
INFLUENCE OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE EFFECTIVE CONTENT DELIVERY OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION BY BUSINESS EDUCATORS IN SOUTH-SOUTH
This study investigated the influence of professional development on the effective content delivery of entrepreneurship education by business educators in South-South, Nigeria. Two purposes, research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised of 55 Business Educators that were randomly selected from the state-owned universities in South- South Nigeria. The data for the study was collected with a self-structured questionnaire titled “Questionnaire on influence of Professional Development on the Effective Content Delivery of Entrepreneurship Education”. The instrument was validated by three experts, two in Business Education, and the other one from Measurement and Evaluation. The reliability of the instrument was established with Cronbach alpha and a reliability coefficient of 0.81 was established. The data collected was analyzed with mean and standard deviation while t-test was used to test the hypotheses formulated in the study. Findings in the study shows that; the trainings gotten by Business Educators enhance their creativity, productive and professionalism. Collaboration amongst deepens their understanding and enhances collective attainment of the goals of the Business Educators and mentoring of Business Educators enhance their career development, pedagogical skills and enhances their level of professionalism. Based on the findings, conclusion and recommendations made by the researcher in-service training should be provided for Business Educators that teach Entrepreneurship Education in Nigerian Universities.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: A PRODIGY FOR SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS EDUCATION TEACHING AND LEARNING IN THE CONTEMPORARY GLOBAL SETTING
Due to the impact of manual functions, business education is confronted with previously unheard-of opportunities and challenges. Additionally, graduates of business education are under more pressure to find employment. The labour market has tightened its standards for workers as because of the development of artificial intelligence, and graduates with a high level of professionalism and comprehensiveness will be chosen. Consequently, as a department of business education It should accurately comprehend the artificial intelligence trend, place a high value on its impact and role in the advancement of business education, link AI to the innovation and reform of vocational education, and employ AI teaching strategies in a way that is both logical and scientific. In keeping with the advancement of the times, it is employed in everyday education to develop exceptional abilities for the nation and society. In an effort to raise the caliber of instruction and standard of business education, this article will examine how artificial intelligence is affecting vocational education and potential solutions. This study concludes that AI holds significant potential to improve the quality of business education and align it with global standards, but its benefits can only be maximized through balanced integration with traditional teaching methods. It is recommended that Institutions should encourage continuous professional development in AI applications for business educators. Also, policies that emphasize ethical and responsible AI use should also be implemented. By addressing these gaps, AI can serve as a catalyst for innovative reforms in business education and produce globally competitive graduates
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MANAGERIAL SKILLS AND EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN BAUCHI METROPOLIS
This study relationship between managerial skill and effective management of small and medium enterprises in Bauchi metropolis. The main purpose of the study was to determine the relationship managerial skill on effective management of small and medium enterprises in Bauchi metropolis. The study was guided by three objectives, with corresponding research questions and null hypotheses. Relevant literature related to the study was reviewed. The design for the study was descriptive survey. The population of the study comprised 263 Managers/owners of small and medium business enterprises. The researcher sampled 159 subjects using proportionate random sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was developed by the researcher from adaptation from the existing instruments; financial management skill; Marketing skill; Communication Skill; The instrument was validated by 4 experts. The instrument was tested and reliability coefficient of 0.80 was obtained. The research questions were answered using descriptive statistics (demographic, mean and standard deviation) while the hypotheses were tested using correlation analysis. The study revealed that financial management skill, has high skill relationship on effective management. Marketing skill; has moderate skill significance relationship on students’ for been self-reliant. Communication skill; has large extent influence on effective management. Based on the results, it was recommended, that parents should educate and encourage their children to be business-oriented upon; Stakeholders like managers/owners, Parents, government, NGO’s, and scholars should create public awareness programmes that will help to promote small and medium businesses from collapses, values, and beliefs that encourage business creations; The manager/owners should be encouraged to embrace effective management or training in order for them to become self-reliant and wealth creators; The Government should make accessible loans available for manager/owners as they are doing now so as to start up their businesses; managerial skills and training should upheld, increase awareness and change the mind-set of the individual/managers/owners toward imbibing small and medium business enterprises culture and reduce over reliance on government
BUDGETARY CONTROL SYSTEM AS PREDICTORS OF FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN SOUTH-WEST, NIGERIA
The study focused on budgetary control system as predictors of financial performance of manufacturing companies in South-West, Nigeria. Two null hypotheses were tested. Correlational survey research design was adopted for the study. The population comprised 44,082 budgetary control personnel in 18,666 manufacturing companies in South-West Nigeria. Proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 4409 budgetary control personnel. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha method was used to obtained reliability co-efficient internal consistency and the values obtained were 0.91 and 0.90. Simple regression analysis was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The findings revealed that variance analysis budgetary control and responsibility accounting budgetary control significantly predict financial performance of manufacturing companies in South-West, Nigeria based on budgetary control personnel years of work experience. The study concluded that manufacturing companies’ failure to use variance analysis budgetary control and responsibility accounting budgetary control and financial budgetary control effectively could result to the company being financially unsuccessful and inability to invest to make profit
STRATEGIC PLANNING AND CREATIVITY SKILLS AS PREDICTORS OF SMES PERFORMANCE
The study examined strategic planning and creativity skills as predictors for SMEs performance. Four research questions guided the study. A descriptive research design of survey was used. The population of this study comprised all SMEs in Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode local government areas of Ogun State, Nigeria. A total of 80 SMEs were selected as sample size of the study. Multistage sampling technique was used for selecting sample. After that, purposive sampling technique was adopted in selecting the sample size of the sample. Researcher developed instrument tagged: Strategic Planning, Creativity Skills and SMEs Performance Questionnaire (SPCSSMESPQ) was used for data collection with reliability 0.92. Research questions 1 and 2 were analysis using mean and standard deviation. Research questions 3 and 4 answered using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The findings of the study revealed that capability to develop a business concept, effective decision making, innovative business ideas, novel business products and services, and inspirational skills were among creativity skills needed for SMEs performance. Business review, marketing and sales plans, effective collaboration between people – leadership, training and development, operations – premises, production, it and financials – cash flow, requirements for finance, planned investments were among the level are strategic planning needed for SMEs performance. There was relationship between strategic planning and SMEs performance (r = 0.495, p < .05). There was positive relationship between creativity skills and SMEs performance (r = 0.557, p < .05). It was recommended, among others, that government through its agencies should endeavour to organize capacity building workshop for managers from time to time in order to understand the salient roles and impacts of strategic planning and creativity skills on SMEs performance
Analysis of Risk Management in Procurement Options Available to Construction Industries in Enugu Metropolis
The evaluation of cost overrun determinants were carried out in this research study using descriptive statistical design tool to analyze survey reports from both professionals in the construction industry and investors/risk bearers. The investigative study involved 506 respondents comprising of Architects, Builders, Estate surveyors and Quantity surveyors in Awka Anambra state using a well-structured questionnaire design. Two research questions; what are the determinants of cost overrun in real estate construction projects in the study area? And, what are the effects and the level of effects of the determinants of cost overrun in real estate construction projects? And corresponding hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive statistics (mean, percentage and frequency) were adopted in answering the research questions, while regression analysis were used in angering the research hypotheses. Findings reveal that cost overrun occurs in real estate construction projects caused by various factors at different degrees ranging from project management factors to experience and service level factors, leading to abandoned projects, engagement of quacks, and indecision by the project owner. It was therefore recommended that real estate developers should adopt and implement advanced project planning tools and engaged certified project managers during real estate project construction, ensure effective communication and collaboration among the project stakeholders, hire experienced contractors, comply with the rules of regulatory bodies, and apply relevant construction technology in the project construction processes, among other suggestions
