    OPTIMIZING MACHINE LEARNING-DRIVEN MOBILE CHARGING STATIONS IN POWER-CONSTRAINED ENVIRONMENTS

    Mobile charging stations serve as essential sources of power for a range of devices, such as electric cars, medical equipment, and communication devices in order to maintain the functionality and security of vital activities. A distinct set of optimization problems, such as resource allocation, forecasting model development, power management, cost optimization, and so on, arise when mobile charging stations are deployed and managed in energy-constrained environments. This work addresses the optimization difficulties in the deployment and management of mobile charging stations by utilizing state-of-the-art strategies to improve the operational efficiency and resilience. The system emphasized on employing supervised learning as a kind of machine learning(ML), in which the model was tested and trained on a labeled dataset derived from a range of energy sources. These sources include solar energy systems, generators, and portable battery packs to get around these optimization challenges. The support vector machine (SVM) and multilayer neural networks (MLNP) along with Naïve Bayesian (NB) optimization strategies were developed to boost the performance of mobile charging stations. Artificial neural network (ANN) outperformed the SVM by a significant margin when selecting the target variable. The black-box feature incorporated into the framework reduced error probability and promoted high standards, all while increasing the efficiency and reliability of the model learning process. This study provides an approach for places with limited energy resources and promotes the shift to more environmentally friendly means of transportation while simultaneously enhancing the accessibility, efficiency, and dependability of electrical vehicle charging services.   &nbsp

    EVALUATION OF FATTY ACID AND PHOSPHATIDE COMPOSITION OF MANGO (MANGIFERA INDICA) FRUIT PULP GROWN IN THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY OF NIGERIA AT DIFFERENT DEGREE OF RIPENESS

    Mango (Mangifera indica) is a tropical fruit consumed world-wide because it is a good natural source of many nutrients. The lipid composition of Mangifera indica fruit pulps grown in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria was evaluated at different degree of ripeness using standard analytical techniques. The most prominent saturated fatty acid found in the fruit pulps was palmitic acid (16:0) with percentage concentrations of 25.76, 21.78 and 23.60 for unripe (UR), about to ripe (AR) and ripe (RP) fruit pulps respectively. Oleic acid (18:1) was the major unsaturated fatty acid found in the fruit pulps with percentage concentrations of 25.58, 27.54 and 26.36 for UR, AR and RP fruit pulps respectively. The results showed that unsaturated fatty acids were the most dominant in all the fruit pulps, with the mono-unsaturated fatty acid as their major constituent.  Ripe mango fruit pulp (RP) can be regarded as the most nutrient rich Mangifera indica because it contained the highest total essential fatty acids with concentrations 20.64 %. The most prominent phosphatides in the fruit pulps are phosphatidylethanolamine which was > phosphatidylcholine > phasphatidic acid > diphosphatidylglycerol. The phosphatide content of Mangifera indica fruit pulps increased as the fruit pulp ripened suggesting that the AR and RP fruit pulps can be used as ingredients for functional enriched food. The results equally showed that Nigerian Mangifera indica is a potential antioxidant at all the ripeness level examined

    COMPARATIVE ASSESSMENT OF SOME PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF WATER IN AQUACULTURE PONDS AROUND ILLEGAL REFINERY AREAS IN RIVERS STATE, SOUTH-SOUTH NIGERIA

    This study compares some pHysicochemical properties of water in aquaculture ponds of African Regional Aquaculture Center (ARAC) and Mariculture Research Center (MRC) in Rivers State, Nigeria. To determine temperature, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), turbidity, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total dissolved solid (TDS), total suspended solid (TSD), nitrate ion (NO3-) and chloride ion (Cl-) in the ponds using their standard methods, water samples were collected at two tidal and one non-tidal aquaculture ponds. The results show that temperature ranged from 22.14 to 22.94 oC, pH (5.66 – 6.39), EC (12.29 – 45.00 μS/cm), DO (3.34 – 3.70 mg/L), BOD (0.92 – 13.09 mg/L), COD (1.80 – 26.04), turbidity (0.00 – 40.00 NTU), TDS (13.00 – 8601.00 mg/L), TSS (12.13 – 37.02 mg/L), (NO3-) 0.04 – 0.08 mg/L) and Cl- (5.90 – 1049.90). Hence, temperature, pH, COD, turbidity and NO3- values of the water in the three ponds were within the permissible limits recommended by WHO and NESREA for aquatic lives while DO was below the limits. EC, BOD, TDS and Cl- in ARAC non tidal and tidal ponds were found to be within the limits recommended by WHO and NESREA while these parameters were above the limits in the MRC tidal pond. TSS concentration of ARAC and MRC tidal ponds were within the permissible limits of these regulatory organizations while ARAC non tidal pond was above the recommended limits. This study suggests that all the ponds can sustain aquatic lives, however, proper monitoring of waste disposal around the vicinity of the ponds is recommended

    Chitosan is a bio-polymer that consists of β-(1-4-2- acetamido-2-deoxy-D-glucose) glucosamine units, which has found its usefulness in several applications such as agricultural, textiles, food, biomedical and pharmaceutical industries. Proximate composition and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopic (FTIR) characterization of chitosan extracted from periwinkle shell using Moringa oleifera as agent of deproteination and deacetylation (CM) and commercial chitosan (CC) purchased from MarkNature USA were studied. The aim was to utilize local waste, periwinkle shell and naturally sourced alkali as deproteination and deacetylation agents to synthesize chitosan and compare the physicochemical properties with the commercially procured chitosan. Moisture, ash and protein contents were determined using standard methods. The percentage yield, solubility, degree of deacetylation, water and fat binding capacities were also determined using their standard methods. Characterization was done using FTIR. CM and CC respectively had moisture content (1.51 and 6.94) %, ash content (3.92 and 1.87) % and protein content (2.29 and 1.70) %, water binding capacity (1078 and 970) %, fat binding capacity (294.11 and 177.61) %. The percentage yield and degree of deacetylation of CM were 87 % and 78.30 respectively. Both CM and CC were soluble in 1% acetic acid. The FTIR spectra of CM and CC gave characteristic free hydroxyl (OH) band at (3774 and 4037.00) cm-1 respectively, aliphatic –OH- absorption bands of (3470 and 3430.17) cm–1, aliphatic CH3 absorption bands of (2927 and 2966) cm–1 respectively. The study has shown that chitosan prepared from periwinkle shell using naturally sourced alkali showed good physicochemical properties when compared with commercial chitosan

    The aeromagnetic data of some part of the northern Anambra basin has been procured and analyzed to evaluate it subsurface structures in order to assess the hydrocarbon potentiality of the area using the depth weighting techniques of source parameter imaging (SPI), Euler deconvolution and 2D modeling technique which is a better way of mirroring subsurface structures, topography and depth to the top of magnetic body. The results of 3D Euler and SPI ranges from -55.9 to 4197 m and -135.0 to 3926 m respectively. More so, the modelling techniques estimated various hydrocarbon maturation depths within the models at 2.4, 3.2, 4.8, 5.6 and 6 km respectively. The both depth of 3D Euler and SPI correlates well with each other and to some extent with the modeling results. In summary the study area showed possible potentials for hydrocarbon prospecting

    ARRHENIUS-CONTROLLED FLUID FLOW OVER A SUPERHYDROPHOBIC MICROCHANNEL WITH SYMMETRIC WALL CONCENTRATION

    This paper demonstrates the effect of wall concentration on a magnetized heat and mass transfer flow affected by Arrhenius kinetics in a slit microchannel. One of the parallel plates is intentionally modified to have a superhydrophobic surface (SHS), while the other plate has a no-slip surface (NSS). The nonlinear ordinary differential equations are treated with the regular perturbation method. The actions of key parameters controlling the flow behavior in terms of momentum and energy distributions are illustrated graphically. The present study is valid for the limiting case because it is based on a comparison with earlier studies that back it up. It was revealed that the existence of symmetric wall concentration substantially influences flow development and reversal. This research will have applications relevant to cracking in petrochemical engineering, chemical synthesis, anti-wetting micro-technology, etc.&nbsp

    MODELING SOME INTERGALACTIC RADIO COMPONENTS’ AND COSMIC EXPANSIONS

    Analytical and statistical methods are used to find a mathematical model that plausibly may connect cosmic expansion, and expansions of some intergalactic radio components (such as the extragalactic radio jets and lobes of some radio galaxies). These are done by carrying out some regression analyses on some measurable parameters of the more extended radio galaxies, as well as, on their more compact counterparts. Results of the size/redshift data for the more extended doubles indicate that these sources expand in size as cosmic expansion advances with time.&nbsp

    An X-Ray Diffraction Analysis of Cement Stabilized E-Waste Contaminated Soil: (A Case Study of Alaba International Market, Lagos State, Nigeria)

    This study examines the mineralogical transformations in e-waste contaminated soils (CO1, CO2 and CO3) treated with cement contents at 0,2,4,6,8 and 10 percentages using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The e- waste soil samples (CO1, CO2, and CO3) were obtained from three diifferent sites at St Patrick Catholic Church, Sunny Bus Stop and Kpako Area of Alaba International Market, Lagos State, Nigeria. Disturbed soil Samples was obtained at a depth of not less than 2m. The objective of this paper is to understand the phase evolution and the formation of hydration products at different cement addition and to establish the optimum of the addictives on these e-waste soil samples and to determine how cement hydration products contribute to heavy metal immobilization, thereby reducing leachability and safeguarding groundwater quality within the area. The results indicate a progressive transformation of mineral phases. The untreated soil contained Quartz (SiO₂), Calcite (CaCO₃), Lead Oxide (PbO), and Copper Oxide (CuO) across all the soil samples. With cement addition, Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) and Calcium Silicate Hydrate (C-S-H) emerged, indicating hydration reactions. At 6% cement, maximum mineral transformation occurred with the formation of C-A-S-H and gehlenite (Ca₂Al(AlSi)O₇), enhancing soil stabilization. Beyond 6%, hydration activity declined. These results suggest that 6% cement optimally stabilizes e-waste soil of all the treated e-waste contaminated soil, improving its geotechnical and environmental properties of e-waste-contaminated soils, contributing to sustainable soil remediation efforts and given more value to the soil to be used for construction purposes especially in Alaba area of Lagos State, Nigeria where the soil abounds

    RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CREATIVE EXPRESSION AND ACQUISITION OF LITERACY SKILLS AMONG PRESCHOOLERS IN PUBLIC EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE CENTRES IN ELEME LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

    This study is focused on the relationship between creative expression and acquisition of literacy skills among preschoolers in Public Early Childhood Care Centres in Eleme Local Government Area. The study adopted the correlational research design. Two purposes, two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. 2071 preschoolers found in 21 Public Early Childhood Care Centre in Eleme Local Government Area constituted the population of this study, from where 890 preschoolers representing approximately 43% of the population were sampled using simple random sampling technique through balloting-with-replacement. The instrument that was used for data collection was the researcher-designed 22 items questionnaire titled: Creative Expression and Acquisition of Literacy Skills Questionnaire (CEALSQ). Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to answer the research questions and to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that, there is significant relationship between painting, scribbling and preschoolers’ acquisition of literacy skills in Public Early Childhood Education Centres in Eleme Local Government Area. Based on the findings, it was recommended that:  preschoolers should be given appropriate materials to use in painting exercises to enable them acquire the necessary literacy skills. Preschoolers should be given materials, rough papers to scribble in order to acquire proper sense of letters and number formation

    This paper explores the challenges and strategies involved in translating Discovering the Truth, a Nigerian evangelical play by Ifeoma Onyemelukwe, using Lawrence Venuti’s Foreignization vs. ‘Domestication method. This translation is the first French version of the play, raising fundamental questions about how Nigerian multiculturalism can be conveyed to a Francophone audience. The study highlights the linguistic and cultural issues inherent in a multilingual work that blends English, Pidgin, Igbo, and Hausa. It analyzes how to preserve the identity of the source text while ensuring accessibility for French readers. The essence of translating this English text into French lies in transmitting the meaning, tone, and nuances of the original content so that it resonates with French speakers while respecting the grammatical and syntactic rules of the French language. This involves literal translation and cultural adaptation, considering how idioms, expressions, and context are understood in both languages.  Résumé  Cet article explore les défis et les stratégies liés à la traduction de Discovering the Truth, une pièce évangélique nigériane d’Ifeoma Onyemelukwe, en appliquant la méthode de « Foreignisation » vs « Domestication » de Lawrence Venuti. À notre connaissance, cette traduction est la première version française de cette œuvre, ce qui soulève des questions fondamentales sur la transmission du multiculturalisme nigérian à un public francophone. L’étude met en évidence les enjeux linguistiques et culturels propres à une œuvre multilingue mélangeant ; l’anglais, le pidgin, l’igbo et le  haoussa. Nous analysons comment préserver l’identité du texte source tout en assurant une compréhension accessible aux lecteurs francophones. L’essence de la traduction de ce texte anglais vers le français réside dans la transmission du sens, du ton et des nuances du contenu original afin qu’il résonne auprès des francophones tout en respectant les règles grammaticales et syntaxiques de la langue française. Cela implique une traduction littérale et une adaptation culturelle, en tenant compte de la manière dont les idiomes, les expressions et le contexte sont compris dans les deux langues.&nbsp
