It introduces students to a wide range of topics and provides for detailed investigation of chosen areas of study. Australian Unlimited presents primary source material in the form of extracts, maps, tables, graphs and photos, questions and information for journal entries, focus questions, extension activities and ideas for further research. An extensive bibliography and reference section provides a useful starting point for specialised project work. Building a dream?: a social history of Australia in the twenties

    No full text
Item is not available from this repository. Please contact the author.Building a Dream covers the main issues in Australia’s social history during this period. Focusing on the hopes and dreams of Australians during the 20s, it evaluates the economic and social aspirations of government and people as they set about the task of nation building in the aftermath of the Great War. The 1920s also saw great inequality and division, for not all were to share in the dream: the status and position of women remained largely unchanged; poverty and unemployment existed amongst large sections of the working-class; Aborigines faced not only discrimination but also near extinction as their numbers continued to dwindle; while the shaky economic foundations of the decade were to contribute to widespread industrial turmoil and class conflict.Higher Education and Applied ResearchHolmesglen Institut
