    Development and validation of a new stability indicating RP-UPLC method for the simultaneous estimation of Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir in presence of internal standard (Velpatasvir)

    A new stability indicating RP-UPLC method has been proposed for the simultaneous estimation of Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir in presence of an internal standard, Velpatasvir using Waters ACQUITY UPLC system with PDA detector and Hibar C18 (100 x 2.1 mm, 1.8) column. Mobile phase consisting of 0.01M Ammonium acetate and Acetonitrile (60:40, v/v) was used with flow rate 0.3 ml/min (Detection wavelength: 260 nm) (Injection volume: 1.0 L) (Column temperature: 30°C) with run time 6 mins. The method was linear over the concentration range 30-180 µg/ml and 10-60 µg/ml for Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir respectively. Forced degradation studies were performed and the method was validated as per ICH guidelines

    Background: Persistent stress results in emotional, physical, and behavioral alterations, which heighten the risk of developing conditions such as essential hypertension (EHT). There may be a connection between blood pressure (BP) and anger, which can play a role in the onset of EHT. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate and contrast the effectiveness of specific homoeopathic remedies versus Crataegus oxyacantha mother tincture in controlling stress related hypertension among young adults aged 18 to 35 years. Methods: A randomized prospective study involving 30 cases of stress-induced hypertension. Group 1 (15 patients) received individual homoeopathic medicine, while Group 2 (15 patients) received Crataegus oxyacantha. BP was measured using auscultation and ABPM, with ECG and cholesterol levels also monitored. Data was analyzed using an unpaired t-test. Results: Over a 12-week period, Group 2 experienced a substantial decrease in systolic blood pressure (from 157.79 mmHg to 134.43 mmHg) and diastolic blood pressure (from 96.71 mmHg to 86.29 mmHg). In contrast, Group 1 showed a modest reduction in systolic BP (from 154.10 mmHg to 143 mmHg) and a more pronounced drop in diastolic BP (from 96.6 mmHg to 90.2 mmHg) during the first six weeks. Conclusion: Both individualized Homoeopathic medicines and Crataegus oxyacantha mother tincture were effective in managing stress-induced essential hypertension in young adults aged 18–35 years. Crataegus oxyacantha demonstrated a more significant and rapid reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, along with improved stress levels, while individualized Homoeopathic treatment showed moderate benefits, particularly in diastolic pressure and constitutional symptom relief. These findings suggest that Crataegus oxyacantha can be a valuable therapeutic option for immediate blood pressure control, whereas individualized remedies may provide long-term supportive management

    ANTHROPOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF MALNOURISHED SCHOOL CHILDREN FROM INDIA

    Background: Recently, India has made considerable progress in addressing some public health issues, but child malnutrition remains a challenging issue. Objectives: The aim of this study was to conduct anthropometric analysis of malnourished children aged 6-12 years. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among children aged 6-12 years at Biliya Boys and Girls Government School in Patan District. Descriptive analysis was performed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to complete the descriptive analysis. Results: A total of 339 school children were eligible for evaluation in this study, where maximum (54%) of them being male. The average height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI) of male participants’ 128.50 cm, 37.84 kg and 15.41kg/m2, respectively. Most children were classified as underweight.Conclusion: In this study, the anthropometric measurements including Weight, Height and BMI of the study participants were evaluated. The BMI was consistently noted to be of the underweight category reflecting that these participants were malnourished. KEYWORDS School Children, Malnutrition, Underweight, Gujarat

    CHEMICAL PROFILING AND DENDROGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION OF 16 MEMBERS OF ORDER MYRTALES COLLECTED FROM DIFFERENT REGIONS OF MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

    Chemical profiling was employed to delineate phylogenetic relationships among 16 taxa of the angiosperm order Myrtales collected from distinct biogeographic regions of Maharashtra, India. Leaf methanolic extracts were analyzed via High Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) to generate comprehensive phytochemical fingerprints. Binary presence–absence matrices derived from distinct chromatographic bands were used to compute Pairing Affinity Indices, quantifying interspecific chemical similarity and divergence. Distance matrices informed construction of dendrograms to visualize chemoprofile-based phylogenetic patterns across seasonal cohorts. The highest affinity values were observed between Eucalyptus globulus and Terminalia mantaly (52%) in Lonavala (summer) and between Combretum indicum and Gnetonia floribunda (50%) in Mumbai (winter), indicating pronounced chemotaxonomic divergence. Lower affinity values (25–26%) were recorded among other species pairs, reflecting varied degrees of secondary metabolite overlap. Cladistic interpretation of chemoprofiles revealed discrete clusters consistent with family-level differentiation within Myrtaceae, Lythraceae, Lecythidaceae, Combretaceae and Melastomataceae. These findings demonstrate that HPTLC-derived secondary metabolite distribution provides informative chemotaxonomic markers that can complement morphological and molecular data in resolving evolutionary relationships. The results support the integration of chemical data into systematic frameworks and highlight the potential of chemoprofiling for enhancing the resolution of phylogenetic inference in Myrtales.   KEYWORDS Chemotaxonomy; Myrtales; High-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC); Secondary metabolites; Pairing affinity; Phytochemical profilin

    Isolation and Molecular Identification of Asparaginase Producing Thermophilic Fungi from Decomposing Wastes

    L-asparaginase (L-ASNase) is an enzyme of significant biomedical and industrial interest, primarily used in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and as a food processing aid to reduce acrylamide formation. While microbial sources are common, there is growing interest in novel sources, especially thermophilic fungi, which can offer enzymes with enhanced stability at high temperatures. This study aimed to isolate, screen, and molecularly identify potent L-asparginase producing thermophilic fungi from decomposing organic wastes. Fungal strains were isolated from various decomposing waste samples using Dilution plate technique and plated on YESA medium. Then they were screened for asparginase production using modified Czapek Dox agar media supplemented with different conc. of phenyl red dye. The most potent producers were further identified using both morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of the DNA sequence data. The most potent producers were identified as Thermomyces lanuginosus strain (ATCC 200065) and Aspergillus oryzae (RIB40).   KEYWORDS L-asparaginase , Thermophilic fungi, Dilution plate technique and decomposing waste

    Role of Nitric Acid in the Holistic Management of Haemorrhoids: A Case Study

    Haemorrhoids, or piles, are a common anorectal disorder that can significantly impair quality of life due to symptoms such as bleeding, pain, and itching. While conventional management includes lifestyle modifications, topical therapy, and surgery, many patients seek non-invasive, holistic approaches. Case Presentation: A patient presenting with haemorrhoids was treated with the individualized homoeopathic remedy Nitric Acid. Case analysis included a detailed assessment of physical symptoms, mental-emotional state, and general health. Supportive dietary guidance and lifestyle recommendations were also provided. Intervention and Outcome: The patient received Nitric Acid tailored to the totality of symptoms. Within a short period, there was a marked reduction in pain, and discomfort, Itching. No adverse effects were reported. Conclusion: This case demonstrates the potential of individualized homoeopathic treatment in managing haemorrhoids effectively and safely. Integration with simple lifestyle and dietary measures may enhance symptomatic relief and support long-term well-being.     Microwave-Induced Synthesis and Multifunctional Characterisation of Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II) and Zn (II) Complexes of a Methoxy-Substituted Hydrazide Ligand

    This research work delineates the application of microwave-assisted synthesis, the investigation of the structural properties, the analysis of the magnetic behavior, the study of the heat resistance and the antimicrobial testing of a new hydrazide ligand, 4-methoxybenzylidene isonicotinoyl hydrazide (HL), and its complexes with  ions. Microwave irradiation not only enabled the very fast synthesis of ligands and metal complexes but also provided a lot of advantages over the classic heating methods such as better quality and purity of the products. The ligand HL was found to be bidentate coordinated through azomethine nitrogen and carbonyl oxygen, which led to the formation of stable bis-chelated complexes having predominantly octahedral geometries confirmed by FTIR, UV-Vis, elemental analysis, molar conductivity and magnetic susceptibility.The thermal investigations indicated that strong coordination and high stability were the reasons for the progressive decomposition, resulting in stable oxides of the metal residues. The magnetic investigations revealed high-spin  complexes, typical  paramagnetic behaviour, and diamagnetic. Antimicrobial testing demonstrated the synergistic effects of metal complexes on antibacterial and antifungal activities, particularly for the  species. Molecular docking studies performed against DNA gyrase B confirmed the results, indicating that the complexes had stronger binding energies and more favourable interactions when compared to the free ligand. As a result, the results validate microwave-assisted hydrazide metal coordination chemistry as a dependable and efficient way to produce transition metal complexes that are both structurally strong and bioactive.   KEYWORDS:   microwave synthesis, hydrazide ligand, transition metal complexes, octahedral geometry, antimicrobial activity, docking

    Longitudinal evaluation of homoeopathic treatment for psoriasis using the PASI scale: Insights from a case study approach

    Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease affecting approximately 2-3% of the world's population. This study describes the long-term homoeopathic treatment over 18 months of a 34-year-old female patient diagnosed with psoriasis. The patient presented with extensive skin lesions including scaling, redness, and itching, primarily affecting the legs, with an initial Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) score of 14.4. Individual homoeopathic remedies including Sulphur, Calcarea Carbonica, and Ferrum Phosphoricum were prescribed based on the patient's symptoms and treatment response. The treatment resulted in significant improvement, with the final PASI score reducing to 2.4, representing an 83.33% improvement. Symptoms such as scaling, redness, and itching intensity decreased. The study demonstrates the potential effectiveness of individualized homoeopathic treatment in managing chronic psoriasis, as evidenced by objective PASI score improvement and sustained clinical response.   KEYWORDS Psoriasis, Homoeopathy, PASI Score, Chronic Skin Disease, Scaly Patches, Individualized Treatment

    Comparative Evaluation of Centesimal and Fifty-Millesimal (LM) Potencies in the Homoeopathic Management of Psoriasis: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

    Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis with significant physical and psychosocial burden. Homoeopathy employs individualised prescribing using different potency scales, most commonly centesimal and fifty-millesimal (LM) potencies. Comparative clinical evidence between these potency scales remains limited.Objective: To compare the clinical effectiveness of individualised homoeopathic treatment using centesimal and LM potencies in patients with psoriasis.Methods: This study was conducted as a pilot randomized controlled trial at the outpatient department of Jawaharlal Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. Ten patients with clinically diagnosed psoriasis were randomly allocated into two parallel groups: LM potency group (n = 5) and centesimal potency group (n = 5). In both groups, remedies were selected on an individualised basis according to classical homoeopathic principles; the potency scale was the only variable. Disease severity was assessed using the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) at baseline and after six months. Statistical analysis included paired and independent t-tests.Results: Both groups showed statistically significant reduction in PASI scores from baseline (LM: p = 0.001; centesimal: p = 0.003). The LM potency group demonstrated a greater mean PASI reduction compared to the centesimal group, with a statistically significant between-group difference (p = 0.041).Conclusion: Individualised homoeopathic treatment was associated with significant improvement in psoriasis severity. In this pilot trial, LM potencies demonstrated greater PASI reduction compared to centesimal potencies.     Prevalence and Occurance of Anaemia among Adolescent Girls in Selected Schools of Gurugram, Haryana: A Cross-Sectional Study

    Introduction: Anaemia remains a major public health concern among adolescent girls in India. Nutritional deficiencies, menstrual blood loss, and socio-economic factors significantly contribute to its prevalence. Untreated anaemia can adversely affect growth, health, and cognitive performance, making early identification and timely intervention essential. Aim: To determine the prevalence and occurrence of anaemia among adolescent girls. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among 100 adolescent girls selected through random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire covering demographic details and anaemia-related symptoms. Haemoglobin estimation was performed to assess anaemia status. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Half of the participants belonged to classes 10th–12th. Haemoglobin assessment showed that 26% had normal levels, while 48% had mild, 20% moderate, and 6% severe anaemia, indicating mild anaemia as the most common type. Symptoms were reported by most participants, with 73% experiencing mild and 27% moderate symptoms. No significant association was found between anaemia and selected demographic variables at the 0.05 level. Conclusion: The study reveals a high prevalence of anaemia among adolescent girls in Gurugram, Haryana, predominantly in its mild form. The findings underscore the importance of routine screening, nutrition awareness, and school-based preventive strategies to reduce the burden of anaemia.
