    Effectiveness of School-Based Oral Health Education Programs in Reducing Dental Caries Among School Children of Lucknow City

    Introduction:Dental caries has profound implications for children's overall health and well-being.Beyond the immediate physical effects, dental caries can also have psychological and social consequences. Children with visible dental decay or missing teeth may experience embarrassment, low self-esteem, and social isolation. These psychosocial impacts underscore the importance of addressing dental caries not just as a medical issue, but as a significant factor affecting a child's overall quality of life.Aims & Objectives: The aim of study isto evaluate the effectiveness of a school-based oral health education program in reducing dental caries among school-going children aged 12 to 15 years of Lucknow city.Materials & Methods:A quasi-experimental, before-and-after design to assess the effectiveness of school-based oral health education programs in reducing dental caries among 12 to 15 years oldschool children. Data collection occurred at three time points: baseline, 3 months, and 6 months post-intervention, with a follow-up study conducted one year after the baseline assessment in 210 participants. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the data, and inferential statistics were used to determine the effectiveness of the intervention.Results:The results indicate that the school-based oral health education program significantly reduced both DMFT scores and gingival index scores in the intervention group over 12 months. The intervention group showed a significant reduction in DMFT scores from 3.20 to 2.10 (t = -12.34, p < 0.001) and in gingival index scores from 1.80 to 1.20 (t = -10.45, p < 0.001).Conclusion: The study concluded that oral health education could play a crucial role in school health programs, providing an effective tool for reducing caries risk, improving gingival health, and promoting better oral hygiene practices among children

    Evaluating Growth Indicators Among Infants Aged 6–24 Months: The Role of Complementary Feeding in Preventing Malnutrition

    This study evaluates the relationship between complementary feeding (CF) practices and growth indicators among infants aged 6 to 24 months in Pune City. Using a cross-sectional observational design, anthropometric measurements (height-for-age and weight-for-age) were collected and analyzed according to WHO Child Growth Standards (2006). Infants were categorized into three age groups and assessed for nutritional status using Z-scores. The findings indicate that a majority of infants, particularly in the 6–12 months group, fell within the normal growth range, while stunting and underweight were more evident among older infants, suggesting a decline in appropriate CF practices over time. Chi-square analysis revealed a significant association between timely, adequate CF and better growth outcomes. These results underscore the importance of early nutritional education and intervention to prevent malnutrition during infancy

    The formulation development and characterization of rapid-release non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) via a mixed solvency approach represent a significant advancement in pharmaceutical science. This study investigates the utilization of mixed solvency concepts to enhance the solubility and dissolution rates of NSAIDs, thereby facilitating their rapid release. Through systematic optimization of formulation parameters, including solvent selection, co-solvency ratios, and surfactant concentrations, novel NSAID formulations with improved drug delivery profiles were developed. The characterized formulations were subjected to rigorous physicochemical analyses and in vitro dissolution studies to evaluate their performance. The results underscore the efficacy of the mixed solvency approach in achieving enhanced formulation development and rapid-release characteristics for NSAID drugs. By leveraging the synergistic effects of multiple solvents and surfactants, this approach offers a versatile and efficient strategy for overcoming drug solubility challenges and enhancing therapeutic efficacy. This research contributes to the advancement of pharmaceutical formulation science and holds promise for improving the efficacy and patient compliance of NSAID medications

    Ecotourism, as a field of study and practice, remains in a formative stage with ongoing debates surrounding its definition, planning, and implementation. The lack of a universally accepted definition reflects the diversity of perspectives and objectives within ecotourism discourse. This review contends that rigid definitions may be unnecessary if the focus remains on the underlying principles and objectives of ecotourism. Broadly, the concept encompasses three key themes: natural conservation, environmental education, and sustainability—incorporating both economic and social dimensions. Each of these elements offers distinct benefits but also presents challenges, particularly when commercial interests outweigh ecological and ethical considerations. The credibility of ecotourism hinges on transparent practices, ethical marketing, and the prevention of consumer exploitation. This article critically explores the foundational themes of ecotourism, analyzing its ecological, educational, and sustainable dimensions. It also reflects on the evolving dynamics of the tourism industry and discusses future directions for ecotourism research and practice

    To Assess the Awareness Amongst Parents Regarding the Effects of Exposure to Multimedia Screen-Time During Meals on Oral Cavity in Children Aged 7 to 12 Years- A Cross-Sectional Questionnaire- Based Study

    Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the level of knowledge and awareness among parents regarding the food pouching habit in children aged 7 to 12 years while using multimedia devices.Material and Method: A pre-validated Questionnaire was provided to the Parents for filling their responses. The questionnaire included Demographic details, knowledge-related and attitude-based questions related to the study. The total number of samples taken for the study was 300.Results: Out of 300 participants, 12 of them were unable to fill up responses accurately. Among the rest, around 63% of children watch various types of screen while eating meals. 78% of them hold food in their mouth without swallowing. Conversely, it has also been reported that around 13% of children do not use screens during meal time and still happen to hold the food in their mouth during meal.Conclusion: The study found that the parents have average understanding and awareness of the food-pouching habit of children that is related to increased risk of dental problems.It is also seen that children with both parents working have more tendency to often develop the habit of watching screens during mealtime, which encourages food pouching behavior. Thus more parental awareness regarding the same is necessary

    VALIDATION OF A CUSTOMIZED QUESTIONNAIRE TO ASSESS COMMUNITY PHARMACISTS' KNOWLEDGE, PERCEPTIONS AND BARRIERS IN PROVIDING PHARMACEUTICAL CARE: A PILOT STUDY

    A community pharmacist plays an important role between physicians and patients. In the healthcare system by serving as the most accessible healthcare professional to the public they are responsible for ensuring that patients receive optimal pharmaceutical care. A pilot study involving current community pharmacist services in various districts of Uttarakhand was conducted to validate a customized questionnaire. The questionnaire encloses a total number of 29 questions designed to determine community pharmacist attitudes and perceptions of barriers to providing pharmaceutical care. The questionnaire focused – on demographic data, essential pharmaceutical care skills of a community pharmacist working in a community pharmacy, and other factors related to patient treatment. The researcher visited randomly selected 50 community pharmacists working in community pharmacy setups in the Uttarakhand state. The reliability of the questionnaire was measured using Cronbach’s alpha, which produced a value of 0.82, indicating good reliability and consistency. Pharmacy practitioners working in community pharmacies in Uttarakhand are actively engaged in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients. We suggest improving and implementing communication and interaction between the pharmacist, other healthcare professionals, and patients. We improve to drive change because community pharmacists showed a strong interest amongst them to learn more and providing adequate and beneficial pharmaceutical care for patients. Our study will help us understand the challenges faced by community pharmacists in the various districts

    Integrative Analysis of genetic parameters and traits associated for enhancing Grain yield in Bread Wheat

    The present study assessed genetic variability, heritability, and trait associations across ten agronomic traits in a crop breeding population. Analysis of variance revealed significant genetic differences for key traits such as grain yield, spike length, and 1000-grain weight, while block effects were non-significant, confirming experimental reliability. High heritability and genetic advance for grain yield, biological yield, and seed weight indicate strong potential for selection. Correlation and path analysis highlighted positive relationships between grain yield and traits like biomass, tiller number, and seed size, while delayed flowering and maturity negatively affected yield. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) further simplified trait variability, with the first three components explaining over 69% of the total variation, identifying biomass and yield-related traits as major contributors. These results emphasize the importance of early flowering, efficient biomass partitioning, and tillering in yield improvement. The findings offer valuable insights for breeders aiming to enhance productivity through a targeted selection of high-heritability traits

    Fipronil (FIP), a widely used phenylpyrazole insecticide, has raised significant concerns due to its environmental persistence, bioaccumulation, and potential adverse effect on non-target organisms, including humans. The study investigates the reproductive toxicity of Fipronil in male albino rats, focusing its impact on testicular structure and function. Male rats were administered varying doses of Fipronil to evaluate changes in body weight, testis weight, histopathological alterations, biochemical parameters and hormone levels. Result revealed dose-dependent reduction in body and testis weight, histological damage to seminiferous tubules, disrupted biochemical markers and significant alterations in serum testosterone, FSH and LH levels. These findings underscore Fipronil’s potential to impair male reproductive health through mechanisms involving oxidative stress, hormonal disruption, and structural damage to testicular tissue

    Effect of pre-treatment of Food waste on lipid production of the two oleaginous yeast strains Cryptococcus curvatus 2698 and Yarrowia lipolytica 35

    A batch experiment was conducted to study the effect of different pretreatment methods of food waste (FW) on the growth and lipid accumulation of two oleaginous yeasts Cryptococcus curvatus 2698 and Yarrowia lipolytica 35. Food waste was pretreated by acid (A), thermal (T) and acid-thermal (AT) hydrolysis methods. The resulting FW filtrate, without any nutrient supplementation, was used as culture medium for both the yeasts. Compared to other pretreatment methods, acid-thermal hydrolysis method solubilized more carbon content from the food waste material. This higher carbon content of FW-AT medium supported higher biomass production of the yeast strains C. curvatus (10.35 ± 0.51 g/L) and Y. lipolytica (9.80 ± 1.2 g/L). Compared to Y. lipolytica, higher lipid content was obtained from C.curvatus from the acid treated food waste medium (8.81 ± 1.17 %, g/g). It was observed that the culture medium from food waste with acid-thermal pretreatment is suited for biomass production and food waste with acid pretreatment medium enhanced the lipid production among the other treatments

    Mosquito control programs have traditionally relied on synthetic pesticides, which pose significant risks to the environment and non-target organisms. In response to these concerns, naturally derived plant compounds have emerged as promising alternatives due to their eco-friendly and target-specific nature. Recent research has increasingly focused on using protein inhibitor strategies to manage insect pests by targeting their digestive enzymes.This review highlights the potential of using in silico techniques, particularly molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations, to evaluate the interaction between mosquito gut proteases and naturally occurring protein inhibitors. These computational approaches allow for the prediction and assessment of ligand–protein interactions, facilitating the identification of potent inhibitor candidates. Such analyses can significantly streamline the development of novel biopesticides and transgenic approaches by reducing the cost and time associated with traditional in vitro testing.By providing insights into the structural compatibility and binding affinity of natural compounds with mosquito proteins, in silico methods serve as valuable tools for the sustainable and strategic control of mosquito populations
