NDIC Quarterly Vol. 35 No. 12 2020 Article Mediating Role of Central Bank of Nigeria’s Regulations on the Agent Banking and Mobile Payment Sustainability Strategies in Nigeria

    Get PDF
The study explores the mediating role of CBN’s regulations on the agent banking and mobile payment sustainability strategies in Nigeria. The arguments are that agent banking decomposed as separation of ownership and control; risk preference; information asymmetry and moral hazards would enhance the sustainability of the strategies in some cases but would enhance it better if there were regulations. To this effect, an electronic survey was carried out via WhatsApp on a total of 745 registered agent banks in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Only 268 registered agent banks responded to the questionnaire, and the data gathered were analyzed using the Hayes’ mediation model.2.0 Literature Review 68; 3.0 Methods 72; 4.0 Results 78; 5.0 Discussion of Results 81; References 85

In Q2 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic continued from Q1, 2020 to cause unparalleled deteriorations in global economic activity due to lockdown and other social distancing measures. . The measures introduced to contain the spread of the terrible COVID-19 disease have been necessary, but have had severe economic and financial consequences. Global growth is projected at -4.9% in 2020 by the IMF, 1.9 percentage points below the April 2020 WEO forecast while global growth is projected at 5.4% in 2021 against 5.0% in the April 2020 WEO forecast. As with most other economies across the global, Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) decreased by -6.10%(year-on-year) in real terms in the Q2 2020, ending the 3-year trend of positive but low real growth rates observed since the 2016/17 recession.2. OGUN State.

Ogun state! This gateway like no other, extensively documented in this effort, has remained a peculiar bridge between the past and the future; a profoundly inspiring (yet intensively colorful) antiquity along side an abiding modernity; which layers of all that was striking about the past coming in rapport with the best possibilities that the future holds out. Offering the unique chronicle as a testament to history and identity, has been a feat that his Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun (MFR) breathed life into. For this, he is owned no less than a huge debt of gratitude, both for belief in the team that put this book together, and his remarkable material investment. Through past decades, the evolution of Ogun state has been distinct and progressive, witnessing successive administrations marshal their individuals and often overlapping competences towards the continuum of endeavours that has been laid out in this historicizing project. Its pathway runs through once declining urban spread, across its different nodes. Which has subsequently been regenerated into a series of modern, flourishing, and well-connected metropolitan centres. For their peculiar, collective and intersecting investment through the years – which have presently been brought into greater fruition – we express our appreciation to all the pasts administration in Ogun states.Ogun state: Senatorial districts; History; Archives; Exteriors/interiors; Art and music; Spirituality; Traditional worship; Education; Building our future together; Economy; Festivals
