Instantiation in Partial Learning
The adaptive learning systems are changing the learning process as we know it. One of the advantages they have over the traditional ways of learning is the attempt to adapt to the learner's capabilities in order to deliver the knowledge as optimizing as possible. Even in such sophisticated implementations there are differences in the treatment of the adaptive learning. During the past years spent in research of different aspects of the adaptive learning, we made a distinction of our latest development phase as an advanced adaptive learning, having more specific approach to the problem from the phase where the problem of adaptive learning is treated as a general case. Considering the conditions of advanced adaptive learning rather than basic adaptive learning, the process of learning is different and closely related to the human learner. In order to demonstrate this key improvement, we presented a general learner model through its learning mechanism and its behavior in the adaptive learning environment together with the instantiation process. In this paper we present a new way of learning with learning environment instances, constructed by choosing different ways to obtain the knowledge for a target unit
Proxy-Protected Proxy Multi-Signature Based on Elliptic Curve
In this work, we propose a proxy-protected proxy multi-signature scheme based on EllipticCurve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), which aims at providing data authenticity, integrity, and non-repudiation to satisfy the basic properties of partial delegation proxy signaturedescribed by Mambo et al. as well as strong proxy signature properties defined byLee et. al. The proposed signing/verifying scheme combines the advantages of proxyprotectedsignature and multi-signature scheme. The security of the proposed schemes isbased on the difficulty of breaking the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP).The scheme proposed is faster and secure than the multi-signature based on factoring ordiscrete logarithm problem (DLP). The final multi-signature of a message can be verifiedindividually for each signer or collectively for a subgroup or entire group as well. Finally, the proposed proxy-protected proxy multi-signature schemes can be used in E-commerceand E-government application, which can be implemented using low power and small processingdevices
Performance Measurement in ITG Based on Balanced Scorecard
The article reports on our work in conducting performance measurement for the management of Information Technology (IT) by applying the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) at Mulawarman University, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The results of this study are then used to propose a hybrid framework that applies both BSC and a artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in order to measure the performance of IT governance generally. This article also examines BSC’s abilities and its flexibility compared to other methods in measuring the performance of IT governance. The proposed hybrid framework is expected to yield a management that produces a scorecard measures that are more rigorous, accurate and consistent with the objectives and organizational strategies in non-profit organizations, especially educational ones
Characteristics in Classification of Information Use (IU)
Conventionally, information quality or IQ used in most researches and also in practice as dimensions of characteristics which inherent in valuable information. IQ is characteristic measures based on information production processes. As a result, it may not be a valuable for its users and even for enterprise value. Our approach is to define a new information characteristic based on process of information consumption or usage, called IU as complement to IQ. The characteristics in IU consists of two dimensions ie: (i) conformity on repackaging and (ii) originality on exchange information for users. Parameters for this dimensions acquired using features extraction from IU process in each layer of enterprise management. The paper also describes how to apply the new characteristics practically to provide a higher information values for enterprise
Continuous Real-time Monitoring of Patient’s Vital Signs Based on ZigBee Standard
This paper gives an understanding of what possibilities Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) have when using shortrange wireless communications protocols. There advantages are used to facilitate versatility in the movements of health care patients. The paper investigates the feasibility of using the ZigBee protocol, givean analysis of methods for collection of received data from multi sensor environment, and mechanisms for privacy and data protection by using encryption techniques. This characteristics are applied on previously developed collaborative healthcare system model (COHESY).COHESY is aimed at continuous real time remote patients’ health monitoring
Students’ Perceptions during Integration of Computer Games in Primary Education: QoE Analysis
The integration of computer games in the primary school program is a challenging task which requires changes in the pedagogical approach and teaching practices. Since it is important to understand students, this study follows student-centered approach while evaluating different variables in computer game enhanced classes, which impact the overall students’ Quality of Experience (QoE). We involved a total of 114 students in several primary schools in Macedonia which participated in traditional and game-based learning environment. Students’ feedback was collected through surveys and the data set was analyzed with a path analysis model that illustrates relationships between relevant variables which influence students’ QoE in classes enhanced with computer games. We found that students’ motivation mostly influenced students’ QoE, which was also determined by the increased effectiveness and simplified way of learning. The research results correlated students’ QoE and learning outcomes during integration of computer games in primary schools, which were altogether increased against the traditional environment
Performance Indicators for Wireless Intelligent Sensors Applications
The metrology technology has been evolved so much with the wireless sensor intelligent systems providing more capabilities in term of processing, remote multi-sensing fusion and storage. This kind of systems can be used in many types of environments. The monitoring is one of the most used. However, various design challenges for wireless intelligent sensors systems are imposed to overcome the physical limitations. Communication in sensor network should be as efficient as possible, especially for applications requiring specific performances. This paper analyzes the performance indicators of the sensing devices systems which stand for superior measurement, more accuracy and reliability. Study findings prescribe researchers, developers/ engineers and users to realizing an enhanced sensing motes design strategy that offers operational advantages which can give cost-effective solutions for an application
Decision Support System For A Customer Relationship Management Case Study
Data mining is a computational approach aiming to discover hidden and valuable information in large datasets. It has gained importance recently in the wide area of computational among which many in the domain of Business Informatics. This paper focuses on applications of data mining in Customer Relationship Management (CRM). The core of our application is a classifier based on the naive Bayesian classification. The accuracy rate of the model is determined by doing cross validation. The results demonstrated the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed model. Naive Bayesian classifier reported high accuracy. So the classification rules can be used to support decision making in CRM field. The aim of this study is to apply the data mining model to the banking sector as example case study. This work also contains an example data set related with customers to predict if the client will subscribe a term deposit. The results of the implementation are available on a mobile platform
Inteference Mitigation in Femtocellular Networks
Femtocells can significantly boost up wireless cellular network capacity by reducing communication distances to user equipment and also by reusing resources already utilized in the macrocell network on which they overlay. However, the deployment of femtocells within a macrocell coverage area, causes severe interference between the femtocell and the macrocell, which may have an impact on the overall performance of the femtocells. Avoiding such interference is very important for the effective co-existence of femtocells and macrocell. This paper proposes an algorithm to mitigate cross-tier interference between a femtocell and a macrocell using adaptive power control. The proposed approach is modeled and simulated using MATLAB. The impact on the performance of the femtocell using the proposed algorithm is analysed. Results show that the proposed adaptive power control algorithm has tremendously reduced the negative effects on the system throughput, delay and outage probability for voice and data traffics
Optical Tomography Sensor Configuration for Estimating the Turbidity Level of Water
This paper presents an investigation on an optical sensor configuration to estimate the turbidity level in a sample of water based on tomography technique. The optical sensors consist of infrared light - emitting diodes (LED) as transmitters and photodiodes as the receivers where the projections of the sensors are designed in fan beam mode. The promising results obtained from the analysis of light path detection demonstrated the accuracy of the proposed technique in estimating the turbidity level of water. The approach has potential to contribute and utilize for monitoring the quality level of water in water treatment industries
