Improving the performance for automated brain tumor classification on magnetic resonance imaging deep learningbased
Brain tumor is an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cell in the brain. Early diagnosis of brain tumor has a crucial step in this type of cancer, which is fatal. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the examination tools to examine brain anatomy in clinical practice. The high resolution and clear separation of the tissue enable medical experts to identify brain tumor. The earlier of brain tumor is detected, the wider of treatment options. However, manually analysed of brain anatomy on MRI images are time-consuming. Computer-aided diagnosis with automated way is helpful solution to help management with unreliable degrees of automation to trace various tissue boundaries. This study proposes convolutional neural network (CNN) with its excellences to automated features extraction in convolution layer. The popular architectures of CNN, i.e., visual geometry group16 (VGG16), residual network-50 (resNet-50), inceptionV3, mobileNet, and efficientNetB7 in medical image processing are compared to brain tumor classification task. As the results, VGG16 outperformed other architectures of CNN in this study. VGG16 yields 100% accuracy, precision, sensitivity, specificity, and F1-score for testing set data. The results show the excellent performance in classifying brain tumor and no tumor from MRI images that demonstrate the efficiency of system suggested
Review of early and accurate detection of Parkinson’s disease
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a central sensory system-based progressive illness with no cure. The origin of this illness is unknown. According to various research, it has been found that it is caused due to genetics or environmental factors. It is usually found in older people. However, there is no accurate treatment for this disease. So, the patient must be monitored periodically. It usually starts with deterioration in speech performance. The major problem with this disease is that it’s very costly to treat. The paper aims to report details of numerous aspects of detection of PD published in recent years based on the focus and benefits of the study, the methodology being used, accuracy of the system, and future research suggested for the study. A systematic study was done based on a search of the literature. A total of 50 articles were discovered
Morphology for hexagonal image processing: a comprehensive simulation analysis
Morphological operators for binary and grayscale images are commonly used to eliminate noise, recognize contours or specific structures, and arrange shapes in image processing for physiological modeling and biomechanics applications. Even though morphology has been substantially developed in square-pixelbased-image-processing (SIP), no effort has been made to construct morphological operators in hexagonal-pixel-based-image-processing (HIP) yet. In this paper, we transform basic SIP-domain-morphological operators such as dilation, erosion, closing, and opening into HIP-domain and compare their performance with their SIP counterparts. It is the first time to give the fundamental morphological operators in the HIP domain. The operators developed in this paper initiate the research about morphology in the HIP domain by successfully filling a significant gap by eliminating HIP’s lack of basic operators, thus capable of producing enhanced images for better analysis in anatomical models related to biology and medicine research fields
A new optimal strategy for energy minimization in wireless sensor networks
In recent years, evolutionary and metaheuristic algorithms have emerged as crucial tools for optimization in the field of artificial intelligence. These algorithms have the potential to revolutionize various aspects of our lives by leveraging the multidisciplinary nature of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). This study aims to introduce genetic and simulated annealing algorithms as effective solutions for enhancing WSN performance. Our contribution entails two main phases. Firstly, we establish mathematical models and formulate objectives as a nonlinear constrained optimization problem. Secondly, we develop two algorithmic solutions to address the formulated optimization problem. The obtained results from multiple simulations demonstrate the positive impact of the proposed strategies on improving network performance in terms of energy consumption
Efficient fault tolerant cost optimized approach for scientific workflow via optimal replication technique within cloud computing ecosystem
Cloud computing is one of the dispersed and effective computing models, which offers tremendous opportunity to address scientific issues with big scale characteristics. Despite having such a dynamic computing paradigm, it faces several difficulties and falls short of meeting the necessary quality of services (QoS) standards. For sustainable cloud computing workflow, QoS is very much required and need to be addressed. Recent studies looked on quantitative fault-tolerant programming to reduce the number of copies while still achieving the reliability necessity of a process on the heterogeneous infrastructure as a service (IaaS) cloud. In this study, we create an optimal replication technique (ORT) about fault tolerance as well as cost-driven mechanism and this is known as optimal replication technique with fault tolerance and cost minimization (ORT-FTC). Here ORT-FTC employs an iterative-based method that chooses the virtual machine and its copies that have the shortest makespan in the situation of specific tasks. By creating test cases, ORT-FTC is tested while taking into account scientific workflows like CyberShake, laser interferometer gravitational-wave observatory (LIGO), montage, and sipht. Additionally, ORT-FTC is shown to be only slightly improved over the current model in all cases.
A study on attention-based deep learning architecture model for image captioning
Image captioning has been widely studied due to its ability in a visual scene understanding. Automatic visual scene understanding is useful for remote monitoring system and visually impaired people. Attention-based models, including transformer, are the current state-of-the-art architectures used in developing image captioning model. This study examines the works in the development of image captioning model, especially models that are developed based on attention mechanism. The architecture, the dataset, and the evaluation metrics analysis are done to the collected works. A general flow of image captioning model development is also presented. The literature search process carried out on Google Scholar. There are 36 literatures used in this study, including a specific image captioning development in Indonesian. It is done to take one point of view of image captioning development in a low resource language. Studies using transformer model generally achieves higher evaluation metric scores. In our finding, the highest evaluation scores on the consensus-based image description evaluation (CIDEr) c5 and c40 metrics are 138.5 and 140.5 respectively. This study gives a baseline on future development of image captioning model and brings the general concept of the image captioning development process including a picture of the development in low resource language
Computer aided detection for vertebral deformities diagnosis based on deep learning
The diagnosis of spinal deformities is one of the most frequent daily clinical routine. X-ray images are used to diagnose several pathologies in order to reduce harmful radiations of the patient. Spinal deformities are diagnosed essentially from vertebral shapes, orientations, and positions, so their detection and segmentation are major steps required for diagnosis. Deep learning could be applied for automatic diagnosis to detect scoliosis and its variants with a favourable performance. In this study, based on 609 spinal anterior-posterior x-ray images obtained from the public SpineWeb, we examine generative ad- versarial network (GAN) based architectures and convolutional neural network (CNN) based architectures models that are capable of automatically detecting anomalies in radiograph and achieve expert-level performances in various fields providing a solid comparative study. Most of the implemented models are apt to automatically distinguish limits between vertebrae so determining their shape with a very good visual performance. The GAN-based architecture estimates the required vertebral landmarks with an accuracy rate of 0.966, signify its capacity for automatic scoliosis assessment in a clinical setting
Phishing detection using clustering and machine learning
Phishing is a prevalent and evolving cyber threat that continues to exploit human vulnerability to deceive individuals and organizations into revealing sensitive information. Phishing attacks encompass a range of tactics, from deceptive emails and fraudulent websites to social engineering techniques. Traditional methods of detection, such as signature-based approaches and rule-based filtering, have proven to be limited in their effectiveness, as attackers frequently adapt and create new, previously unseen phishing campaigns. Consequently, there is a growing need for more sophisticated and adaptable detection methods. In recent years, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) have played a significant role in enhancing phishing detection. These technologies leverage large datasets to train models capable of recognizing subtle patterns and anomalies in both email content and website behavior. This research proposes a hybrid algorithm to detect phishing attacks based on clustering and classification machine learning methods (CMLM): deep learning (DL) and decision tree (DT). Simulation results show that the proposed technique achieves a high percentage of accuracy in detecting phishing.
Deep learning and machine learning classification technique for integrated forecasting
Smart fisheries are increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to increase their sustainability. The potential fishing zone (PFZ) forecasts several fish aggregation zones throughout the duration of the prediction in any sea. The autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) and random forest model are used in the current study to provide a technique for locating viable fishing zones in deep marine seas. A significant amount of data was gathered for the database's creation, including monitoring information for Indian fishing fleets from 2017 to 2019. Using expert label datasets for validation, it was discovered that the model's detection accuracy was 98%. Our method uses salinity and dissolved oxygen, two crucial markers of water quality, to identify suitable fishing zones for the first time. In the current research, a system was created to identify and map the quantity of fishing activity. The tests use a number of parameter measurements to evaluate the contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) approach to machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methodologies. The findings showed that the CECT had a 94% accuracy rate compared to a convolutional neural network's 92% accuracy rate for the 80% training data and 20% testing data
A method for missing values imputation of machine learning datasets
In machine learning applications, handling missing data is often required in the pre-processing phase of datasets to train and test models. The class center missing value imputation (CCMVI) is among the best imputation literature methods in terms of prediction accuracy and computing cost. The main drawback of this method is that it is inadequate for test datasets as long as it uses class centers to impute incomplete instances because their classes should be assumed as unknown in real-world classification situations. This work aims to extend the CCMVI method to handle missing values of test datasets. To this end, we propose three techniques: the first technique combines the CCMVI with other literature methods, the second technique imputes incomplete test instances based on their nearest class center, and the third technique uses the mean of centers of classes. The comparison of classification accuracies shows that the second and third proposed techniques ensure accuracy close to that of the combination of CCMVI with literature imputation methods, namely k-nearest neighbors (KNN) and mean methods. Moreover, they significantly decrease the time and memory space required for imputing test datasets
