Robots are commonly used in industries due to their versatility and efficiency. Most of them operating in that stage of the manufacturing process where the maximum of robot arm movement is utilized. Therefore, the robots arm movement optimization by using several techniques is a main focus for many researchers as well as manufacturer. The robot arm optimization is This paper proposes an approach to optimal control for movement and trajectory planning of a various degree of freedom in robot using soft computing techniques. Also evaluated and show comparative analysis of various degree of freedom in robotic arm to compensate the uncertainties like movement, friction and settling time in robotic arm movement. Before optimization, requires to understand the robot's arm movement i.e. its kinematics behavior. With the help of genetic algorithms and the model joints, the robotic arm movement is optimized. The results of robotic arm movement is optimal at all possible input values, reaches the target position within the simulation time

On the Design of a 4 Degrees-of-freedom Pick and Place Cable Suspended Parallel Manipulator

    Get PDF
This paper proposes the design and control strategy for a four degrees-of-freedom spatial cable-suspended parallel robot for pick and place operations. Pick and place is a repetitive task requiring payload changes for the movement to pick-up the object, and the movement to the nal pose to release the manipulated object. In this paper, a new robust control strategy has been proposed, together with proper trajectories for the required operation. The control strategy consists on the system decoupling and linearization by means of a feedforward term and a cascade PD controller. The main advantage of the proposed solution is that its design can be scalable in size spanning from centimeters to meters with a relatively good positioning accuracy. Finally, simulations are reported to show the overall performances of the proposed con guration for pick and place operations with a medium size manipulator

The Influence of Non-planar (Spatial) Links in the Static Characteristics Behavior of Planar Parallel Manipulator

    Get PDF
Conventional planar manipulators have all their links in a single plane. Increasing payload at the end-effecter/mobile platform can induce high stress in the links due to cantilever nature of links. Thus it limits the total vertical load that can be applied on the mobile platform. In contrast to the links in conventional planar parallel mechanisms, non-planar links are proposed in this paper, i.e., links are made inclined to the horizontal plane and non planar legs are constructed. Although the links are made non-planar, the rotary (or prismatic) joints axes remain perpendicular (or parallel) to the plane of the base platform, which retains the planar motion of the end-effecter. For studying the application of such non planar links in planar manipulators, new models of inertia, stiffness and leg dynamics have to be developed. In this article, these models are developed and with the developed models, the static analysis is done on the planar manipulators with non-planar links and the performance is compared with the corresponding conventional planar manipulators

This work focuses on Model based Predictive Control (MPC) for photovoltaic-wind hybrid energy system connected to electrical grid. Several benefits  are offered by this method  such as robustness against a  parameter variations, minimum output current distortion and excellent reference tracking. In order to minimize the cost function or the error between the  predicted values and their references, MPC-based algorithm permit to select and apply the  optimal voltage vector. Simulation results under Psim environment show a fast dynamic behavior of hybrid system with minimal errors, accuracy and usefulness of the considered control approach

Designing of Robot Gamelan Music using ATmega 16 Microcontroller

    Get PDF
This paper presents a robot concept which is the robot can play the instrumental Gamelan music. Gamelan is a percussive instrument. Instrumental Gamelan music keys are consist of 2 octaves in 15 tones. Robot Gamelan music is using proportional-derivative (PD) control system. PD control of the robot is by controlling DC gear motor position to desired Gamelan key position. Robot Gamelan music using ATmega 16 microcontroller as a controller. Feedback of PD control is using magnetic rotary encoder (MRE) sensor. PD control is using the constant. The constant functions of PD control are determining the pulse width modulation (PWM) toward DC gear motor velocity in order to reposition a gamelan key position and pushing down the errors

    Wireless Gesture Controlled Semi-Humanoid Robot

    Get PDF
Robotics is a field concerned with the “intelligent connection of perception of action”. The most common manufacturing robot is the robotic arm with different degree of freedoms. Today, these humanoids perform many functions to assist humans in different undertakings such as space missions, driving and monitoring high speed vehicles. They are called semi-humanoids because they resemble to upper part of human body.        The idea of this paper is to change perception of controlling robotic arm. This paper provides a way to get rid of old fashioned remote controls and gives an intuitive technique for implementation of Semi-Humanoid Gesture controlled robot. It includes two robot arms which are exactly similar to human arm (5 fingers) increasing sensitivity of the system. It includes motion sensors -flex and accelerometer (used in mobile phones for tilting motion). The system design is divided into 3 parts namely: Robotic Arm, Real time video and Platform.        The prime aim of the design is that the robot arm and platform starts the movement as soon as the operator makes hand and leg gesture. The Robotic arm is synchronized with the gestures (hand postures) of the operator and the platform part is controlled by the leg gestures of the operator.  The robot and the Gesture device are connected wireless via RF. The wireless communication enables user to interact with the robot in an effortless way

Optimal Trajectory Planning of Industrial Robots using Geodesic

    Get PDF
This paper intends to propose an optimal trajectory planning technique using geodesic to achieve smooth and accurate trajectory for industrial robots. Geodesic is a distance minimizing curve between any two points on a Riemannian manifold. A Riemannian metric has been assigned to the workspace by combining its position and orientation space together in order to attain geodesic conditions for desired motion of the end-effector. Previously, trajectory has been planned by considering position and orientation separately. However, practically we cannot plan separately because the manipulator joints are interlinked. Here, trajectory is planned by combining position and orientation together. Cartesian trajectories are shown by joint trajectories in which joint variables are treated as local coordinates of position space and orientation space. Then, the obtained geodesic equations for the workspace are evaluated for initial conditions of trajectory and results are plotted. The effectiveness of the geodesic method validated through numerical computations considering a Kawasaki RS06L robot model. The simulation results confirm the accuracy, smoothness and the optimality of the end-effector motion.

Orientation Singularity Analysis of Parallel Manipulators

    No full text
In this paper, an approach for orientation singularity analysis of parallel manipulators (PMs) is proposed by introducing several performance indices referred to theunique form of screw based Jacobian in the velocity transmission as well as force transmission. Here, to prove the effectiveness of the approach, an example of 3 degrees of freedom (DOF) prismatic-revolute-spherical (PRS) parallel manipulator (PM) is first presented to illustrate the fact that the distributions of singularity boundary of the proposed approach is consistence with the result referred to nonredunant PMs by Liu et al. [22]. Further, the proposed approach is an appropriate one not only for nonredunant PMs, but also for a class of redunant PMs by providing another example of the redunant variable geometry truss (VGT) PM, since the performance index of orientation singularity for the manipulator can becreated only by determining the unique form of screw based Jacobian
