No full textFollowing on from the model of the original edition in 2013, as well as subsequent updates, the Trend Report 2024 is designed to provide the library field with a vital tool for planning for the future. This is the first major revision of the Report since the original – an exciting opportunity to go back to basics. The first phase of the 2024 Report is a literature review, drawing on insights from across disciplines and around the world, into what may be driving the future of information and knowledge. This focus – wider than libraries, but not so wide as to cover everything – is intended to provide a key reference point for our field, both in our own work, and our collaboration with others. The literature review is the work of Professor Michael Dezuanni and Dr Kim Osman, at the Digital Media Research Centre in the School of Communication at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia

No full textA key role of IFLA’s Regional Council is to bring together and share the perspectives and voices of libraries in different parts of the world. This enables building an understanding of global common factors and differences. It also has an important part to play in IFLA’s advocacy work, which focuses on how to shape perceptions of libraries as a means of securing support and partnerships.
This report brings together these two aspects, exploring how perceptions of libraries – among governments, communities, and libraries themselves – have evolved over the period since the COVID-19 pandemic
"Nada nukuthdam", Firekeepers Initiative: Decolonizing Academic Library Collections through Community-based Participatory Archive-building
No full textThis paper articulates the decolonial theories and principles that underlie the library and archives information praxis within an Indigenous-led academic center located within a major research university. The Firekeepers Initiative to develop community-based archives in collaboration with Tribal Nations in Arizona, utilizes participatory and relational methods, CARE principles, and the Protocols for Native American Archival Materials. This initiative employs Community-Driven Archives methods set forth by Godoy (2021) and seeks to decolonize higher education through Indigenous librarianship and reparative archival practice. Authors stress the importance of mindful place-making in academic libraries to elevate Indigenous voices within what are typically Western Colonial information spaces. Challenges include navigating organizational hierarchies within the academy to advocate and coordinate services and programs for Indigenous students, faculty, and their communities

Оба этапа способствуют сосредоточению внимания на долгосрочной перспективе, ясности в отношении мира, который мы хотели бы видеть, а также роли, которую могут в этом сыграть библиотеки и ИФЛА. Стратегия ИФЛА на 2024-2029 годы была разработана членами и волонтерами в ходе опросов и консультаций, целью которых было понять их восприятие ИФЛА на сегодняшний день, а также их стремления на будущее. Стратегия на 2024-2029 годы не является директивной, а скорее устанавливает более широкие рамки, которые любой специалист в нашей области может использовать для разработки своих собственных планов. Она предлагает четкое видение мира, к которому мы стремимся, а также теорию перемен, описывающую, как ИФЛА может помочь библиотекам достичь этих целей. Эта стратегия будет служить постоянным источником информации о планах ИФЛА, основой для оценки прогресса и потенциальной моделью, которая поможет в разработке стратегии в других странах.
