DA2I Report 2024
Building on the two previous editions, the 2024 DA2I report looks back on progress in delivering on universal, meaningful access to information for development over the first half of the delivery period for the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda, through data and expert insights. The DA2I initiative is based on the conviction that access to information is an essential precondition for development. Without it, decision-making is poorer, democracy is weaker, and progress is slower towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Universal, meaningful access can only happen when there is universal connectivity, equity in societies, and the rights and skills to produce and use information
IFLA and Charity Status - a Briefing
Get into WIPO (2024 edition)
The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), based in Geneva, is the United Nations agency responsible for copyright and other intellectual property issues. Established in 1967, its official mission is to lead the development of a balanced and effective international intellectual property (IP) system that enables innovation and creativity for the benefit of all.
IFLA has official observer status at WIPO, together with the International Council on Archives (ICA), the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and around 250 other non-governmental organisations. For libraries, WIPO is not only the primary focus of efforts to promote better copyright laws internationally, but also a potential partner in supporting the library field. Additionally, its meetings provide a good opportunity to meet with senior national officials who may otherwise be difficult to engage with
IFLA and Charity Status - a Briefing
IFLA Strategy Pulse Surveys - Results, Survey 5 (Change Pathways)
This report presents a summary of the survey run by IFLA into the proposed changed pathways for the development of our next Strategy (2024-2029). It offers useful pointers on where we should focus most of our efforts, as well as lots of rich material for subsequent planning of actions.
