Library Map of the World Data Definitions
In collaboration with dedicated volunteers from hundreds of contributing organisations, IFLA develops and maintains the Library Map of the World website (librarymap.ifla.org). It is one of the most comprehensive sources of country-level library statistics in the world, covering all types of libraries. Data metrics include the number of libraries, libraries with Internet access, staff and volunteers, registered users and physical visits, physical and electronic loans. The Library Map of the World data definitions of metrics, library types, and data sources are adapted from the ISO 2789 “Information and documentation – International library statistics”

State of Library Engagement in Climate Communication and Education
In order to better understand the extent and scope of climate communication and education (CCE) activities that libraries and library associations are carrying out, IFLA partnered with the Monitoring and Evaluating Climate Communication and Education (MECCE) project to design and implement a global survey.
This research, supported by a grant from the Gates Foundation via Stichting IFLA Global Libraries, seeks to dig deeper into the survey responses. In order to better position libraries and library associations around the world to engage on these issues, this project analysed the nearly 600 responses, identifying trends, recommendations, and good practice examples.
The resulting report presents a look at how libraries around the world are helping their communities get involved in climate action, and can be used as both an advocacy tool and a roadmap for further developing library work on climate communication and education

IFLA MLCE Guidelines for effective, easy to implement, low-to-no resource media literacy interventions for libraries and information professionals
The Media Literacy Case for Educators (MLCE) project aimed to increase societal resilience by giving teachers, trainers and librarians across Europe the skills, tools and resources they need to be effective, innovative, future-fit advocates and facilitators of media literacy. While different types of MIL interventions have been supported by IFLA throughout the years. The library systems, structures and country context tend to be vastly different, so each approach requires flexibility. Besides the contextual differences, funding remains a common challenge. In account of this, these guidelines have been developed with the aim of using the MLCE project as a case study that draws from the participants’ experiences and encountered challenges, in particular when they find themselves in situations where the resources are limited. They provide a series of recommendations that focus on how to scale and replicate similar interventions, and may serve as a tool for libraries and information professionals to empower equitable access and use of digital tools to promote open, participative and healthy communities globally
