Leading the Armenian Evangelical Church of Toronto Through an Envisioning Process Using an Adaptation of Aubrey Malphur’s Model as Described in Advanced Strategic Planning
No full textBibliography: leaves 150-152The Armenian Evangelical Church of Toronto (AECT) has never had a shared and clearly communicated corporate mission and vision statement. As a result the congregation's ministries have not been aligned with any explicit overarching vision. Ministries were sometimes not sure how their particular activities aligned with the larger purposes of the church. A process was needed to bring the congregation's leadership together to start thinking strategically and plan the future ministries of the church around a shared vision. A strategic envisioning process was undertaken, adapted from Aubrey Malphurs' Advanced Strategic Planning. A strategic planning team led the process by conducting congregational surveys, meeting regularly to pray, studying survey results and writing new mission and vision statements. After this, the team brought together the congregation's key leaders to share the dream, explain the mission and vision statements, and begin the process of aligning the church's ministries at two "ministry alignments" retreats. The outcomes of this project include new mission and vision statements, a willingness to align the ministries accordingly, and a more forward looking, visionary leadership. The process of developing a well articulated mission and vision statement allowed a number of other church issues to be addressed.Thesis (D. Equipping Care Group Leaders Using the Motif of Prophet, Priest, and King in a Singaporean Bible-Presbyterian Congregation
No full textBibliography: leaves 177-182The training of care group leaders is often overlooked. At times their role is not clearly defined. As a result some care groups function like a social group without spiritual direction. This research project addresses the training needs of care group leaders by exploring an innovative way of developing a training program that attends to the main functions of a care group leader. The threefold office of Christ as prophet, priest, and king is used as a model to guide the development of the training program. Through the use of action research and active participation by twenty four care group leaders, the author has developed a nine-hour training program that can be conducted over three sessions. The Development, Implementation, and Assessment of a Nutrition Curriculum Unit for Grades 9-12 in the Seventh-day Adventist Schools in Ontario
No full textBibliography: leaves 126-129Nutrition instruction is integral to the balanced education of children. In the Seventh-day Adventist school system in Ontario, instruction in this subject has been inconsistent historically. In order to start addressing this inconsistency, this project pursued the development, implementation, and assessment of a nutrition curriculum unit for grades 9-12 in Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario. It was developed and tested at Crawford Adventist Academy in Toronto. The curriculum objectives were that students would understand the contribution of nutrition to optimal health, identify and access trustworthy nutrition resources, link nutrition principles to personal Christian stewardship, and honour God by making consistent, healthy nutrition choices that would result in behavioural change.Thesis (D. Yet the world’s soils are under increased pressure on many fronts. They face unprecedented threats from erosion, deforestation, desertification, salinization, sealing (paving over), contamination, loss of biodiversity, and climate change. The importance of soil and the need to sustain it against these threats, however, have elicited little interest, not only by scientists and the general public, but also by the educational systems of most countries.
