    No full text
Objective: to validate the content and appearance of the educational handbook “Sofia’s Story”: educational technology to promote the development of children born prematurely”. Method: qualitative-quantitative methodological research. Data collection through a focus group and a web-based questionnaire with judges from the areas of health, education and communication, and focus groups with a target audience. A content validity index (CVI) of 78% was considered. Qualitative data were submitted to content analysis. Results: 54 professionals participated, 45 from the health area and 9 from the communication and educational field, and 16 family caregivers. The educational material was validated by health judges with a CVI of 100% in all questions, by the judges of education and communication with a general CVI of 91.9%. Family caregivers considered the language of the material clear and accessible, reflecting their experience, and meeting a gap in guidance on the development of children born prematurely; they reported interest in using it and sharing it with other families. Conclusion: The educational material was considered valid in terms of content and appearance, with the potential to support families in promoting the development of children born prematurely, and to support the practice of the professionals who take care of them

The hazing gap: The concealed burden in Brazilian medical schools and the need for validated assessment tools

    No full text
The university learning environment plays a crucial role in shaping students’ mental health and overall well-being. Although these settings are often associated with personal and academic growth, they can also expose students to conditions that contribute to psychological distress1. Recent evidence shows that certain aspects of college life, especially in medical schools, are linked to high rates of anxiety and depression among medical students. Factors such as academic pressure, performance demands, and the broader institutional culture help explain these findings2,3. For newly admitted students, these factors are predominantly linked to the process of entering a new environment. The transition into university often involves seeking belonging within groups such as sports teams, student organizations, and residence communities4. Initiation rituals are part of this integration process and can range from welcoming and harmless to violent and abusive5. These violent and potentially abusive practices are collectively known as “hazing”, which includes various forms of violence, such as gender or racial violence, bullying, and institutional violence6.The university learning environment plays a crucial role in shaping students’ mental health and overall well-being. Narrando a caminhada da seca: textualizações audiovisuais do canal vivendo o semiárido

    No full text
Caminhada da Seca is an annual event that mobilizes gestures of memory to the dead of the Patu concentration camp, in Senador Pompeu/CE. Given its pilgrimage nature, the walk is organized by different agents who share and textualize the path. Among them is Suderly Andrade, who has been filming to produce her audiovisual works proposing imaginary pilgrimages. With the audiovisuals published on the Vivendo o Semiárido channel, we are interested in looking at the narrative dimensions that are assembled in Suderly\u27s textualizations and through which we are summoned to imagine and constitute routes in the midst of the pilgrimage ephemeris.

Bioactive luting cements on the adhesive interface of fiber post and root dentin: a comparative study of bond strength, water interaction, and enzymatic degradation

    No full text
Innovative self-etching dental cements have been considered a versatile material with recent formulations incorporating bioactive additives. Objective  This study analyzed the role of these ingredients in systems used for luting intracanal posts. Methodology  Bond strength (BS), water sorption (WS), water solubility (WSB), and in situ zymography (IZ) were assessed. Three cements were tested: RelyX U200 (RU, bioactive-free control), RelyX Luting Plus (RL, fluoride-containing glass-ionomer), and BeautiCem SA (BC, S-PRG-based). Bond strength was evaluated in bovine root dentin (n=10) at the cervical, middle, and apical thirds at 7 days and 6 months. WS/WSB were assessed using 10 cement disks (10×1 mm) cycled through deionized water immersion (m1), desiccation (m2), and a second immersion (m3). For IZ, the specimens (n=3) were sectioned and incubated with fluorescein-conjugated gelatin for 48h at 37°C at both storage times (7 days and 6 months) for analysis by Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy. Fluorescence intensity was quantified using Image J. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey’s test (p<0.05). Results  RU presented the highest BS and the lowest WS/WSB, while RL showed the opposite trend. BC demonstrated intermediate performance with no statistical differences from the other materials. For all cements, the cervical third and the 6-month period yielded the highest BS values. WS/WSB were greater for the bioactive cements (BC, RL). IZ results aligned with BS findings, revealing suppressed enzymatic activity over time. Based on these results, it can be concluded that RU exhibited superior mechanical stability despite lacking bioactivity. Conclusion  Among bioactive cements, BC emerged as an interesting alternative, offering improved bond strength, water stability, and bioactive potential compared to RL
