On the ion mobility separation of VOC isomers using PTR-MS and SLIM-IMS
This thesis presents the combination of the Structures for Lossless Ion Manipulations (SLIM) ion mobility platform with the Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS), developed by Ionicon Analytik. The primary focus is on assessing the system’s performance in separating and identifying isomeric volatile organic compounds (VOCs) based on their ion mobility. A range of protonated isomeric systems are successfully separated, isoprene and a fragment of valeraldehyde (both at m/z 69); methyl vinyl ketone, methacrolein, and crotonaldehyde (m/z 71); tetrahydrofuran and 2-butanone (m/z 73); methacrylic acid and vinyl acetate (m/z 87.04); 3-methyl-2-butanone and 2-pentanone (m/z 87.08); ethyl acetate and butyric acid (m/z 89); heptanal and 2-heptanone (m/z 115); 1,2,3-, 1,2,4-, and 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene (m/z 121); 2- ethyl-3-methylpyrazine, 2,3,5-trimethylpyrazine, and 2-ethyl-6-methylpyrazine (m/z 123); as well as vanillin and methyl salicylate (m/z 153). The system demonstrates a helium-based resolution CCSResHe of up to 120, corresponding to a nitrogen-based resolution CCSResN2 of around 400. Isomers as little as 0.5Å^2 apart are successfully separated. Sensitivity is measured at roughly 600 cps/ppb in the first SLIM cycle and up to 1000 cps/ppb in straight mode, comparable to standard PTR-MS performance. Theoretical collision cross-section (CCS) values are calculated using the trajectory method (TM) to assign a structure to a molecular ion with an experimentally determined collision cross-section.Masterarbeit Universität Innsbruck 202

Climate change impact on the seasonal snow cover in the Berchtesgaden National Park (Germany) : Snow hydrological modelling with openAMUNDSEN for the RCP 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios using VHR-PRO_IT climate projection dataset
(1) einen deutlichen Rückgang der Schneebedeckung mit zunehmender Höhenlage, wobei niedrige Lagen (<1000 m) in den kommenden Jahrzehnten nahezu schneefrei werden könnten;
(2) saisonale Verschiebungen, einschließlich späterem Beginn und früherem Abschmelzen der Schneedecke;
(3) nicht-lineare Trends mit einer Beschleunigung des Schneeverlusts um die Mitte des Jahrhunderts, insbesondere unter RCP 8.5;
(4) zunehmende interannuelle Variabilität, vor allem in mittleren Höhenlagen;
This thesis assesses the impact of climate change on seasonal snow cover in the Berchtesgaden National Park, Germany, using the fully distributed snow-hydrological model openAMUNDSEN. The model is driv-en by bias-corrected, high-resolution climate projection data from the VHR-PRO_IT dataset under RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5 emission scenarios, covering the period 2024–2069. A temperature-index approach optimized using local automatic weather station (AWS) data is applied to model snow dynamics across a complex al-pine terrain. The modelling workflow includes empirical quantile mapping for bias correction and spatial in-terpolation of meteorological inputs, enabling detailed simulations of snow cover duration, timing, and dis-tribution. The results reveal five key characteristics of snow cover change under climate forcing: (1) a pro-nounced decline in snow cover with increasing altitude, with low elevations (<1000 m) projected to become nearly snow-free within the next decades; (2) seasonal shifts, including later onset and earlier melt of snow cover; (3) non-linear trends with mid-century acceleration in snow loss, especially under RCP 8.5; (4) in-creasing interannual variability, particularly at mid-elevations; and (5) clear sensitivity to emission pathways, with RCP 4.5 showing significantly less snow loss than RCP 8.5. These findings underscore the vulnerability of mid-elevation zones being potential climate change hotspots and the importance of regional-scale model-ling for climate impact assessments. The modelling framework developed is reproducible, adaptable, and suitable for application in other alpine regions. It provides valuable insights for water resource management, ecological planning, and climate adaptation strategies in snow-dependent environments.

My master's thesis is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the medical treatment contract in general, explaining the nature of the contract, the potential parties to the contract, the rights and obligations of each party, as well as the types of termination. In the second part, I discuss the characteristics of the ÄsthOpG and examine whether the removal of a tattoo using a class 3 or 4 laser constitutes a task that falls within the scope of a beautician's profession or if it is considered a form of cosmetic treatment according to the ÄsthOpG. The final chapter addresses the question of whether a doctor is allowed to use non-medical employees for a patient treatment, and if so, to what extent. It scrutinizes whether it is permissible for a doctor to delegate laser treatments for tattoo removal to an (medically unskilled) employee, especially when the doctor is not present in the practice during the procedure, making supervision of the correct execution impossible. Following this, the legal consequences - such as liability for damages, criminal, administrative criminal, and disciplinary law - are examined, particularly if the doctor (possibly unlawfully) delegates tasks to nonmedical staff that he is legally required to perform himself.vorgelegt von: Mag.
