Resource‐based view of city quality: Scales development and validation
As the urban world population grows steadily, cities have become the main habitat for human beings. Against this backdrop, city quality or the level of development of the city's habitat that ensures the satisfaction of objective and subjective human needs become a matter of growing inter est and concern for academics, policy makers, and citizens. Building on a resource‐based view of city quality, the aim of this paper is twofold. First, it proposes and validates scales for six city sub‐habitats: political, economic, social, natural,
artificial, and technological. Second, it tests a model and the underlying hypothesis about the ranking of those sub‐ habitats and of the perceived controversy regarding deci sion making upon them. For those purposes, a survey of 768 city inhabitants was conducted in Portugal to measure city quality and their sub‐habitats. Both the predicted ranking of importance of the sub‐habitats and the perceived ranking of controversy were empirically validated. The results consti tute a novel and important contribution to understand city quality and its sub‐habitats, whose conceptual power relies on hierarchized factors linked to citizens’ happiness and to

Antecedents of customer retention in Portugal: Case study of the network Solinca Health & Fitness Clubs
Customer retention is critical in the fitness industry because of its impact on the profitability of organizations. For this reason, several studies have focused on understanding and explaining their antecedents. Thus, the objective of this study is to understand the history of retention of fitness members in Portugal and its evolution
over the last five years, specifically in the Solinca Health & Fitness Clubs network. The methodology was based on literature review, based on articles on fitness retention in Portugal, published from 2012 to 2017, and
peer-reviewed. The research was carried out in the B-on databases and university repositories and included the analysis of titles and keywords of the publications, considering the terms related to fitness retention.
In the scope of this research, ten articles were found, of which three were eliminated, prior to 2012. Thus, seven articles were considered in the triage, two PhD theses and thirteen publications of national and
international congresses. The results under analysis are related to data from one of the largest fitness networks in Portugal, Solinca Health & Fitness Clubs, and the analysis of this article rests specifically on the

Integrated Analysis of Young Swimmers’ Sprint Performance
To analyze young swimmers' performance regarding sex and skill level, 23 boys and 26 girls (15.7 ± 0.8 and 14.5 ± 0.8 years old, respectively) were assessed for anthropometry, flexibility, strength, drag, coordination, and biomechanical variables. During a 50-m maximal front-crawl bout, seven aerial and six underwater Qualisys cameras assessed kinematics, and a load cell was used to measure drag (Tedea, United Kingdom) and tethered swimming force. A multivariate analysis of variance test (p < .05) enabled us to observe differences between skill levels in speed, stroke frequency, stroke index, and intracyclic velocity variations, but most relevant differences were noticed when comparing sexes, particularly for anthropometrics, shoulder flexibility, speed, stroke frequency, stroke length, drag, mechanical power, power per stroke, and maximal and mean force. Considering the included variables, only male swimmers' performance could be predicted through multiple linear regression, with stroke index, left shoulder flexion, and intracycle velocity variations showing great importance in achieving better results.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
