Literar fisicamente bebés e crianças em família - Programa PETIZ
Com o aumento da inatividade física, do sedentarismo, da obesidade infantil e todas as suas consequências associadas, são poucos os programas de prevenção primária em idades mais precoces. Para tentar minimizar esta problemática surge o programa “Physical Exercise for Toddlers and Infants in Family”.
Can Heart Rate Variability Determine Recovery Following Distinct Strength Loadings? A Randomized Cross-Over Trial
This study aimed to compare the acute effects of hypertrophic (HYP) and maximum strength (MAX) loadings on heart rate variability (HRV) and to compare possible loading-specific alterations with other markers of recovery. Ten young men with strength training experience performed two leg press loadings (HYP: five times 10 repetitions at 70% of one repetition maximum (1RM) with 2 minutes inter-set rest; MAX: 15 times one repetition at 100% of 1RM with 3 minutes inter-set rest) in a randomized order. The root mean square of successive differences statistically decreased after both protocols (HYP: 65.7 ± 26.6 ms to 23.9 ± 18.7 ms, p = 0.026; MAX: 77.7 ± 37.0 ms to 55.3 ± 22.3 ms, p = 0.049), while the frequency domains of HRV remained statistically unaltered. The low frequency (LF) band statistically increased at 48h post-MAX only (p = 0.033). Maximal isometric voluntary contraction (MVC) statistically decreased after HYP (p = 0.026) and returned to baseline after 24h of recovery. Creatine kinase (CK) statistically increased above baseline at 1h post-loadings (HYP p = 0.028; MAX p = 0.020), returning to baseline at 24h post. Our findings indicate no distinct associations between changes in HRV and MVC or CK.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Relations Between Theory of Mind and Academic School Readiness: The Moderating Role of Child Gende
This study investigated the prospective relationship between preschoolers’ theory of
mind (ToM) skills and academic school readiness, while exploring the possible mod erator role played by child gender. The participants were 75 children who were
assessed at two time points: when enrolled in the second preschool year (T1) and
again 4 months before school entry (T2). The results showed an association between
children’s ToM abilities at T1 (but not at T2) and later academic readiness at T2, but
only for girls, even after accounting for child IQ and maternal education. These find ings support the idea that girls and boys can differ in how they use their ToM abili ties in their daily life and highlight the relevance of further exploring gendeinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Mental Imagery in Volleyball Settings: A Scoping Review
This article presents a scoping review of the published literature on mental imagery in the context of volleyball.
Four online databases and one peer-reviewed journals were searched, based on the inclusion criteria. Publication information, procedures and research methods, sample characteristics, sport type and type of mental imagery were analyzed. The selection process found 52 studies, and results showed that from 1987 to 2018 the mental images, along with other psychological skills, have gained popularity in volleyball settings. The examined studies used cross-sectional and experimental approaches, and the analysis was assessed by quantitative data and/ or mental imagery training programs (with relaxation and scripts), mainly focusing on the isolated analysis of the mental imagery construct, and evaluating its use. The studies included both male and female participants, but only 11% were volleyball players. Additionally, the focus was on adolescents and young adult athletes, mostly from high school/ university or international/ elite levels. However, just two studies examined athletes under the age of 16. Considering the present study’s results, limitations, and its implications for practice (e. g. to provide the coach certification programs with specific mental imagery contents), future research directions were highlighted, such as improve mental imagery training programs for children and youth
