Employer branding importance: expectations of the millenials and information channels they use for the start into their career
Driving the Digital Transformation of Healthcare
With healthcare widely recognized as one of the highest-impact frontiers for
digital transformation today, it also poses a seemingly insurmountable challenge
by nature of its inherent complexity. Technological change, under the mantle
of digital health, is pioneering the way forward and aiming to both answer
existing healthcare problems and expand the horizon of what is possible in
healthcare. However, despite the popularity of digital health, many initiatives
do not grow and evolve to create lasting change in health. At the heart of
digital health lies innovation as the primary engine to harness transformative
power. Thus, to succeed, new products and businesses within digital health
must foster that innovation. One potential is through the implementation of
design-inspired methodologies. Thus, it is the goal of this paper to identify how
digital health initiatives are exploring that potential and the practical implementation,
particularly within the geographic context of Berlin-Brandenburg
as a cluster for digital health and entrepreneurship. To achieve this goal, a
theoretical foundation is built on the intersections of digital health, innovation,
and design. After establishing the theoretical perspective towards the topic,
a mixed methods research approach is used to integrate qualitative interview
data with quantitative survey data from a cross-section of digital health players.
Finally, the data collected is analyzed on the basis of established theory to
identify trends and patterns in innovation methodology applications within
digital health
Female Entrepreneurship in Technology Start-ups: A Comparison between Germany and Australia
The purpose of this study is to broaden the picture of female entrepreneurship in the technology sector, by analysing country-specific determining factors. Hitherto, research has predominantly focused on a gender approach for developing entrepreneurship theory, neglecting cross-cultural influences that define what motivates or discourages women from pursuing new venture creation. By drawing on comparative external and internal dynamics, this thesis establishes a multi-level analysis of female entrepreneurship within the German and the Australian technology industry to discover potential country differences and offer suggestions to boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem. This qualitative study compares differences in entrepreneurial activities in the selected countries by conducting
semi-structured in-depth interviews with seven female founders of technology start-ups(4 from Germany, 3 from Australia). Findings indicate differences in entrepreneurial practices in Germany and Australia and confirm Australia to be more successful in promoting
and nurturing entrepreneurship in the technology industry. Furthermore, cultural and regulatory dissimilarities suggest that Germany is less open towards entrepreneurship in general, which contributes to lower levels of women’s activity in both entrepreneurship and the technology sector. Several practical implications for institutions and nascent entrepreneurs are suggested as a way to better support future female founders. The thesis, therefore, enhances existing entrepreneurship theory by offering a comparative approach of two innovation-driven high-income countries in order to identify hindrance factors that impede women towards new venture creation in one country more so than the other
Divesting Strategies - The Use of Equity Carve Outs and Spin-Offs to separate a subsidiary from its parent company
Theoretical and empirical analysis of success factors for selected M&A transactions
Despite previous research on the topic, the evidence of success of M&A transactions and the gains to the acquiring companies is inconclusive. This work empirically tests the effect of an acquisition announcement on the share price performance of the acquirer. By using an event study approach and focusing on the software sector, the abnormal returns of the acquirer are evident on a singular transaction basis, but when considered on a group level, some of the effects, negative and positive, cancel each other out. Furthermore, the empirical analysis of the independent variables chosen proved to be statistically insignificant and cannot explain with a given certainty, the cumulative abnormal returns to the acquirer from the event period analysed. Nevertheless, some variables proved to be stronger than others such as financial leverage of the acquirer, the enterprise value of the target relative to the market capitalisation of the acquirer and the total enterprise value of the acquirer
