Future Skills nachhaltig verankern
From Access to Trust: Policy-Based Automotive Trust Management With XACML
Trust is a fundamental requirement in vehicular systems, particularly in the context of autonomous and cooperative driving, where decisions often depend on data received from other vehicles or infrastructure. This paper presents a novel approach to integrating trust-based reasoning—specifically, decision-making based on subjective logic—into Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) systems, using the XACML policy language. We draw a parallel between trust management and access control, showing that trust assessments can be modeled as access decisions and expressed through standard access control policies. This integration allows for the reuse of mature ABAC infrastructure to represent and enforce trust-based decisions. Furthermore, we demonstrate how trust discounting mechanisms, which combine node-based and data-based trust, can be implemented within XACML policies. To evaluate this approach, we introduce a Rust-based XACML engine capable of interpreting trust-enhanced policies. Its integration in both inter- and intra-vehicle scenarios is discussed, assuming a modern zone-based architecture. Our results suggest that policy-based trust management can be efficiently implemented, enabling flexible and standardized trust reasoning in automotive environments

In this thesis it is investigated how common connection-elements in steel-construction can be manufactured by means of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). The idea was to replace the manual and time-consuming assembly process, which is still common today, by a fully-automated manufacturing-step through additively manufacturing the connection elements directly onto the steel beams.
The basics and particularities of WAAM are explained and described. To enable WAAM-compatible design, theorems as science-based statements are formulated. With the 8-step optimization process presented in this work, the structures of the connection-elements are determined. This ensures that the material is statically optimally utilized while a fast and error-free manufacturing process is guaranteed. Numerical topology-optimization and numerical ultimate-load analysis are used in the optimization process.
For practical demonstration, three connection elements (beam hook, load-introduction stiffener, clamping element) are optimized. In a following chapter, suitable manufacturing strategies for these connection elements are outlined. The manufacturing process with the WAAM is described. The ultimate load-capacity of the connection elements is determined via destructive tests. In an evaluation chapter, the outcomes of these tests are compared with the numerical ultimate load-capacities
Personas in scenario building: Integrating human-centred design methods in foresight
This paper contributes to integrating human-centred design approaches in foresight. We emphasize design thinking as an approach that incorporates user-centred concepts and artefacts, enabling the creation and visualization of potential futures and mediating the exploration of new perspectives and areas of intervention for innovation. However, there is limited discussion in the foresight literature on the meaningful application of design approaches. We focus on the persona method and its roles and applications in scenario building. To be meaningful in scenario building, personas need to appropriately integrate users’ future needs, expectations and behaviours that shape and in turn are shaped by contexts that are yet to be realised. Based on an analysis of published case studies, the paper underscores the role of personas in fostering creative imagination, enhancing scenario engagement, and prospective sensemaking beyond their application as a storytelling vehicle in scenarios. We link persona characteristics and design to their roles in scenario building, allowing design and foresight practitioners the flexibility to tailor the persona approach to different contexts and critically assess the underlying limitations. From this, we provide recommendations for incorporating personas in scenario building and conclude with suggestions for future research
