Public Authorities and Civic Actions Disentangled: Legibility and Scene Styles
Recent developments in both urban governance arrangements and civil society organizations make the reciprocal influences between these two domains increasingly difficult to disentangle. Indeed, both hybrid civic organizations and neoliberal governments mean public administrations and civic actions cannot be assumed to be autonomous and separate spheres. This paper aims to overcome these difficulties by focusing on the scene styles that shape civic actions. Using the main results of an ethnographic study of three cases of third-sector groups and their relationships with public institutions, the paper illustrates how one can analyse two subtle effects: first, the influence public policies have on daily civic life and, second, the impact civic practices have on public policies. For the latter, the analysis will draw on the notion of “metaphorization” put forward by de Certeau to grasp how rules are always used differently from their formal definition. The category of scene styles fashions these uses and their implications, understood in terms of different action dilemmas. As far as the first of the aforementioned effects is concerned, the paper will show how certain scene styles are sustained by being particularly suited to the public conditions set by the ruling authorities, while other scene styles decline for the same reason. Overall, the discussion of the empirical results shifts the perspective on civil society from what it does to how it informally organizes itself in carrying out its actions, allowing complex public/civic relations to be analysed

The story type in which the hero goes back and forth with another world is one of the basic structures of the story. The act of reading itself is a return to and from another world. However, in modern times, it is necessary to secure a certain level of reality that suits the readership. Here are some ways to do this, using modern Japanese novels as an example.
Example of how to secure reality:
(1) Set the other world to the world that continues with the real world
(2) Show physical evidence that guarantees the fact of going back and
forth to another world
(3) Narrative mechanism
(4) Drawing the five senses felt by the person who went back and forth
On the 25th of August 1708, the missionary from Palermo, Giovanni Battista Sidoti (1668-1714), left Manila, for the third time, on the ship Santissima Trinidad, and finally landed in Yakushima late at night on October 10, 1708. Immediately captured, he was subjected to examinations by the governors of the island, and since there were no interpreters, it was decided to immediately transfer him to Nagasaki. Within the port city, due to the country’s policy of isolation, the Dutch were allowed to remain, confined to the islet of Dejima. And it is precisely to the Dutch to whom the government, realizing the impossibility of communicating with a foreign person, asked for help with understanding him.
This article aims to analyse the interrogation at Sidoti, as noted in the reports of the Dutch, called into question to mediate these meetings with the missionary, and, above all, the role they played, as eyewitnesses, in the missionary’s attempt to restore relations with Japan and the Catholic missions. We will also see, on the one hand, the priest’s immediate resentment for the Dutch, which he believes to be the proponents of the expulsion of Catholic Europeans from Japan; and on the other, how the Dutch feel threatened by the presence of the clergyman so as to blatantly discredit him
Al crocevia del Mediterraneo. 1. Le linee istituzionali e ideologiche
Opening reflection of the monographic section At the Crossroads of the Mediterranean, devoted to the concepts of Humanism and the Mediterranean Renaissance. The authors trace some lines that may be common to the cultural evolution of the nascent nations bordering the Mediterranean in the 15th century, which found a point of reference in the rediscovery of classicism.
Hanging by a Thread: Plague, Talismanic Healing, and Self-Branding in the Life and Writings of Tommaso Zefiriele Bovio (1521–1609)
This paper explores the role of talismans in both the published and unpublished works of Tommaso Zefiriele Bovio (1521-1609) focusing on their use during the plague of 1575-1576. Drawing on Victor Turner’s concept of the “multivocality of symbols,” it examines how these objects carried multiple meanings for Bovio, serving both as medical tools and as instruments of self-promotion. By employing talismans, he positioned himself as a divine saviour, seeking to gain the trust of the aristocracy while provoking suspicion among academic physicians and hostility from the Inquisition, which saw his practices as dangerously close to forbidden magic. The discovery of his plagiarism adds another layer of complexity to this picture, revealing the political and cultural stakes of his work and exposing his calculated use of knowledge to secure visibility and influence

Il recente ricorso all’art. 48 TUE
The work examines the procedure for reviewing the european Treaties following its recent activation by european parliament. In particular, the study moves from what was declared in the Report Sailing on High Seas: Reforming and Enlarging the EU for the 21st Century according to which the art. 48 Tue is a constitutional decision-making. That is, many proposals to modify european Treaties have been developed assuming the existence of a constitutional decision. Therefore, bringing back into vogue issues relating to the nature of this process, the current use of this ordinary procedure to be examined, hightlighting both the similarities with a constitutional revision procedure and the deformations whichespecially during of Treaty of Lisbon, have made it questionable this combinationIl saggio prende in esame la procedura di revisione dei Trattati istitutivi a seguito della sua recente attivazione da parte del Parlamento europeo. In particolare, lo studio muove da quanto dichiarato nel Report Sailing on High Seas: Reforming and Enlarging the EU for the 21st Century, secondo cui l’art.
Social capital and health: new frontiers and old problems in a working-class neighbourhood in Naples
Rione Sanità is a neighbourhood in the Third Municipality of Naples.
The only hospital in the neighbourhood, San Gennaro, after being threatened with closure by the Region for over ten years, has now been included in the Campania Region’s territorial reorganisation plan, which implements the directives of Ministerial Decree 77; and should therefore become a Community Hospital.
This evolution of its role in the neighbourhood can be traced back to the great and constant work done by the Comitato San Gennaro, an expression of the neighbourhood’s protest. Does the Committee’s strength lie in a territorial social capital that has been able to fuel the protest? And in what way?
And, in light of the new health reorganisation plan in the area, can this resource be used by the public administration? And if so, is there a regulatory framework in which to give formal status to its role for the Hospital and for the entire territory?
In order to answer these questions, it was decided to carry out field research, using the method of participant observation as a privileged tool, and going into certain aspects in depth with semi-structured interviews with key players. Finally, using the available reference literature, we analysed the evolution and innovations that Ministerial Decree 77 is expected to bring
Endless Displacement. Migration Governance, Containment Strategies and Segregation in Athens and Turin
At the intersection of Segregation, Urban and Refugees Studies, the paper suggests the appearance of new patterns of residential segregation following the turn in European migration governance. I therefore propose a connection between the “urban diaspora” described by Arbaci (2018) and the emergence of “displaceability” as the “silent foundation of contemporary urban citizenship” described by Yiftachel (2018). The first part of the article analyses the evolution of reception policies, analysing the development of Italian “widespread reception” and the parallel ongoing process of “campization” in Greece, namely the process through which, since the "Refugee Crisis", the differences between the reception, housing and detention of migrants have become more and more nuanced (Kourachanis 2018; Kreichauf 2018). The second, departing from an ethnographic perspective, focuses on the displacement policies enacted against asylum seekers and refugees in two southern European cities, namely in the case of the “Ex-Moi” in Turin, a squat in the periphery of Turin inhabited by more than 1000 refugees, and the case of Eleonas refugee camp in Athens, highlighting how the mobilisation of xenophobic and criminalising rhetoric against the migrant population can be instrumental in legitimising new regeneration processes. At the intersection of Segregation, Urban and Refugees Studies, the paper suggests the appearance of new patterns of residential segregation following the turn in European migration governance.
