    A Critical Discourse on Divergent System of Education: Evaluating Youth Engagements for a Secure Pakistan

    This study investigated the divergent system of education in Pakistan with a special focus on evaluating youth engagement contributing to a secure Pakistan. Youth engagement activities were explored with respect to economic, social, and political context. The study adopted a descriptive strategy following a qualitative approach. Nine participants from government institutions, private institutions and madrasahs were selected using convenient sampling technique for data collection. Interviews with structured questions were designed to apply the thematic analysis. The findings show that a small segment of private schools understand its significance and engage their students in activities that facilitate them to understand the concepts such as entrepreneurship, business engagements, small and large-scale businesses, and ideas related to such business domain. It was found that only a few public schools responded to promote leadership skills in their respective schools through various classroom practices and school activities. The respondents of madrasahs perceive political engagement of youth by affiliating themselves with a political party. The findings show a mixed response to the political engagement of youth. However, the realization of its significance in the current times has been found among all respondents. In accordance with the social engagement of youth, there seems to be a proper system in place for fostering social skills amongst the students in private schools

    The Mediating Influence of Academic Self-Efficacy on Students’ Scholastic Stress and Performance: The Study of Perceived Parental Expectations

    This study aimed to investigate the role of parental expectation on academic performance and academic stress with mediating effect of self-efficacy. A correlational research design was used for the study. Three hundred students at secondary schools were selected through purposive convenient sampling. Data were collected through the administration of four respective scales: Parental Expectation Scale; Questionnaire on Academic Stress in Secondary Education (QASSE), and Academic Self-efficacy Scale; Academic Performance Questionnaire. The following statistical methods were used to test hypotheses after the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics; Correlation analysis; Linear Regression analysis; and Independent sample t-test. The findings revealed a positive correlation between parental expectations, academic stress, academic performance, and self-efficacy. Parental expectations were found to have a significant impact on both academic stress and performance. Results of the present study revealed that academic self-efficacy partially mediates the association between parental expectation and academic stress. Male students reported greater levels of parental expectation, academic stress, academic performance, and self-efficacy than females. Academic institutes are recommended to involve parents regarding their parental expectations to overcome the academic stress and increase the performance of students

    Investigating the Status of Sign Language and its Interpretation in Communication Process: A Case of School-Going Deaf Children in Pakistan

    This study was conducted from January to July 2022 in fifteen special education schools for children with hearing impairment located in the city of Karachi. The study focused on challenges faced by Sign Language Interpreters within the school environment. Strategies to counter challenges were identified. Through interviews, observation, and communication analysis, interpreting strategies and motivation were discussed. Additional information was gathered from teachers, Deaf and hearing children on attitudes, relationships, and interpreter competence. Detailed interviews with participants about their cultural values provided a clearer understanding of the topic. Communication strategies, both verbal and non-verbal, were significant in interpreting information and occasionally led to misunderstandings among interpreters in their professional and social life at school. Interpreters shared their experiences and challenges working in a diverse environment with clients of varying backgrounds. Attitudes, strategies, backgrounds, and communication were key aspects identified. Needs of developing a good working environment, interpreter development, teacher training in Special Needs Education, School adaptation for Sign Language Interpreters, and future research to achieve inclusive education were identified

    Impact of Negative Perfectionism on Procrastination and Job Burnout among Public Sector Employees: Role of Stress as Mediator

    This study examined the mediating role of stress in relationship between perfectionism, procrastination and job burnout among the employees. The data was collected from 243 employees of public sector organizations and the sample included the workers who were working in the office setting environment including, bankers, managers, software engineers, administrators and employees of call centers. To collect the data a consent form was used to get the voluntary responses, the other instruments included a demographic sheet, Negative Perfectionism Scale (NPS), Procrastination at Work Scale (PAWS), Oldenburg burnout inventory (OLBI) and Stress subscale from the DASS-21. The results of the study showed that there is a significant positive relationship between perfectionism and procrastination, and a significant relationship between perfectionism and job burnout. In addition, there is a mediating role of stress in the relationship between perfectionism, procrastination, and job burnout among the employees. However, the results of the t-test analysis showed that a significant difference between level of stress and procrastination was found in both genders. Findings of the current study suggests that Perfectionism is significantly associated with procrastination and job burnout, the mediating role of stress was found in the relationship between study variables

    This work is based on impact of implementation of digital laws in Pakistan. The focus of this study was on implementation of Digital Laws as Legal support for digital operations in Pakistan. The theoretical conclusions resulting from the work carried out can be used in the development of conceptual concepts of digital laws and its implementation as legal support. The data of three years 2019, 2020 and 2021 is compiled for the analysis, after the implementation of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016. The implementation of Electronic Crimes Act of Pakistan provided positive results. There was a positive change in the number of cases dealt under this law after its implementation. This act is being used as legal tool to solve digital crimes. The analytical results of this research report outcome will stand unlimited influence further study of digital law

    Renewable energy education and technology have become a necessity at all levels, in the last few decades, many countries around the world have already started working on renewable energy education and skills. The target audience of the program, the course\u27s goals and objectives, and the intended methods of evaluation must all be internalized in the curriculum document. A suitable curriculum must be developed based on the level, type, and other requirements. When developing the curriculum, it is important to fully comprehend and take into account how one academic program may be connected to others on the same or similar topics at lower as well as higher levels. There is a widespread understanding of the significance of promoting learning of renewable energy at all stages. The standardization of course curricula, the creation of books and learning and teaching aids, and the sharing of knowledge regarding the success of the programs in achieving the goals can all be quickly aided by mutual cooperation between various organizations. So that programs must be more efficient, economical, and effective, there needs to be close collaboration between national, regional, and international organizations that provide renewable energy studies

    Impact of Ethical Leadership Practices on Teachers’ Psychological Safety and Performance: A Case of Primary School Heads in Karachi - Pakistan

    This study investigated the level of effective ethical leadership practices of primary school heads from the perspective of teachers serving in Karachi schools. It also compared the effective ethical leadership practiced by primary school head from the perspective of teachers serving in Karachi schools in terms of their various demographics including gender, academic qualification, professional qualification, and locality of their schools. Using a quantitative exploratory method, it targeted the primary schools in each district of Karachi to approach the teachers currently serving in the respective primary schools. The findings of the study revealed that teachers perceive the effective ethical leadership practiced by primary school heads. However, this perception of teachers changed frequently based on their different demographic characteristics that led the study to infer a potential biasness displayed by the primary school heads while practicing their leadership. The study recommends awareness sessions and training programs for primary school heads to avoid their potential biasness

    Impact on English Language Learners’ Listening Comprehension and Acquisition of Vocabulary Through the Use of Subtitled Videos

    There has been an increase of appreciation in the understanding of the value and application of technology in the twenty-first century. In the classroom, technology is replacing conventional teaching techniques. Despite the fact that various research studies have been used to demonstrate the advantages of subtitled movies for language learners, there are notably few ones in this area in the context of Pakistan. This study was framed to examine the effects of watching videos with the subtitles on ESL students\u27 vocabulary and listening abilities. Pre-post tests and attitude questionnaires were given as part of a quasi-experimental study that the researchers used, to gather both qualitative and quantitative data of the groups. The group\u27s hearing comprehension scores were pre-tested at .948 and vocabulary scores were pre-tested at .876. Both with p-values at more than 0.05 showed the group\u27s listening and vocabulary skills were on the same level. However, both the listening comprehension and vocabulary learning post-test outcomes had p-values under 0.05 (0.007 and 0.014, respectively). The researcher’s additional use of descriptive statistics and participant surveys showed that the experimental group outperformed the control group in vocabulary learning and listening comprehension, supported the alternative hypothesis. The current study provides insightful qualitative and quantitative data that can aid in the better understanding of modern teaching methodologies and their potential for change by policymakers, syllabus writers, and educators. By allowing for deeper investigation of the topic, this study can aid future academics’ understanding of the value of incorporating technology into education

    Obstacles to Co-Education in Pakistan and Their Impact on Girl’s Education: A Critical Analysis of Literature

    Education is an essential human right. In countries where women and men have equal educational opportunities, are successful in all areas of society today. The focus of this research is the governmental, social, and cultural barriers to bringing harmony in Pakistani culture. To do this, the research critically examined the adaptive political, religious, and social components of Pakistani society. The study\u27s major results were reached after a thorough review of the literature. The study identified a number of socioeconomic and ethical hurdles to co-education in Pakistani culture through literature review. Male dominance, conservatism, rigid customs and traditions, stereotype social codes, acute and chronic poverty, male insularity toward women\u27s roles, complex social structure, religious misconceptions, gender differences, feminine discrimination, home issues, and a lack of women\u27s political liberation are just a few of the barriers to co-education mentioned in the study. The data analysis in this study leads to the conclusion that removing these barriers will aid girls\u27 educational development

    Technostress Level in Prospective Teachers at Higher Education Institution

    In the last two decades, most researchers have taken an interest to understand how technology affects negatively. It is extensively reported that techno stress is evoked due to technology among different groups like prospective teachers. This quantitative survey examined the technostress level of prospective teachers in the department of education using a validated technostress instrument. The findings of the study show that the used instrument was found valid to examine technostress with minor modifications and examining prospective teachers\u27 moderate levels of technostress can affect their work performance in the class. The findings of the study found that final-year students have less technostress as compared to first-year students. Moreover, this study will be used as a potential reference in the context of Pakistan to know that if there is advanced technology then there might be the existence of technostress. This research study will provide awareness to the management of HEIs to overcome technostress among prospective teachers
