Comment on 'Historical Hurricane Tracks'
No full textI used this resource in teaching meteorology to upper level undergraduates. Some were transfer students with little weather background while others were more advanced students. This was a great resource. It offers a lot of historical information that allows students to understand the influence of steering winds and the Coriolis force on storm tracks and movements of hurricanes. I would recommend it as a resource to aid in explaining a complex subject using real-world examples.

No full textOn the production of methane, it is interesting to note that while the world bovine population stands at about 1,021,000,000 (FNP, 2005), that is almost exactly balanced by the drop in the herd of american bison, commonly called "buffalo". In 1800 the american bison was the most numerous large mammal, at an estimated population of 1,000,000,000 head. Perhaps the bison was less flatulant than bovine, who can say, but surely the world herd of bovine was more than 21,000,000 at that time, and the world herd of bison today is essentially negligible. I'm not sure that we could demonstrate that the methane situation is appreciably worse today than in the past due to animal husbandry.

The site also asks the students engaging questions. Under each category it gives the students a glimpse of what the universe is and the things in it.
