    This bookmark provides basic information about the importance of ground truth measurements for investigative science and the formation of clouds. It also provides information about an opportunity for students to participate in a real-time collaborative scientific experiment with NASA scientists: the Student Cloud Observations On Line (S'COOL) project. S'COOL is a component of NASA's Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System (CERES) project. S'COOL project participants make ground truth measurements for the CERES experiment. Ground truth measurements are land-based observations to compare with satellite data for the purpose of improving the satellite results. Educational levels: Intermediate elementary, Middle school

    This topic is so important to teach kids as early as possible, since the effects of global warming are impacting us today. This site is very kid friendly with the advice it gives. It does a great job at summarizing the needed material for what global warming is, how it is effecting our climate and weather, what the green house effect is, and most importantly what can we do to help this problem. I am a firm believer of environmental awareness and will most definitely want to instill some of those positions into my students as well. The site does not scare the students, which is very important to remember when talking about current issues that are affecting us today, but it does make them aware and hopefully motivated to do something about it. Since the site is designed for kids, it offers games and animations for them to play with as well-which is a great way to teach! There is even a teachers link that provides access to global warming articles and various teaching resources that can be used or purchased. Even though I am suggesting this site as a fourth grade standard, I think it can be used at any level above third grade independently, or even younger if you were to do it on a projector for the whole class together. I recommend this website and topic to be addressed in your classroom.
