New combinations in Anthoxanthum (Poaceae) for Aotearoa / New Zealand taxa earlier placed in Hierochloe
New combinations in Anthoxanthum (Poaceae) are provided for six endemic Aotearoa / New Zealand species earlier placed in Hierochloe: Anthoxanthum brunonis (Hook. f.) de Lange & C.J. James, comb. nov. (Hierochloe brunonis Hook. f.), A. cupreum (Zotov) de Lange & C.J. James, comb. nov. (H. cuprea Zotov), A. equisetum (Zotov) de Lange & C.J. James, comb. nov. (H. equiseta Zotov), A. fuscum (Zotov) de Lange & C.J. James, comb. nov. (H. fusca Zotov), A. novae-zelandiae Gand.) de Lange & C.J. James, comb. nov. (H. novae-zelandiae Gand.) and A. recurvatum (Hack.) de Lange & C.J. James, comb. nov. (H. fraseri Hook. f. var. recurvata Hack.). These six combinations were omitted from Schouten and Veldkamp (1985), in which the then recognised Hierochloe were transferred to Anthoxanthum and in subsequent treatments
The design of the Mayfair Flats
Constructed in Parnell, Auckland, in 1929, and listed as Category 2 place by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust in 1981, the Mayfair Flats are a remarkably well-preserved example of 1920s apartment design in Aotearoa New Zealand. This paper aims to comprehensively analyse the Mayfair Flats building, exploring its historical context, and how the limitations and opportunities of the budget, materials and technology inform the architectural response. The spatial organisation, layout between the private and shared spaces, the structural system, materials and architectural elements that define this character of the building can be understood by examining the architectural principles employed by the architect, William Gummer, learned during his time at London’s Royal Academy of Art, and made clear by the design books he read and recommended to other professionals and students. This paper will also discuss the client’s motivations and the building’s construction history. Weaving above waters: Designing a floating urban neighbourhood
RESEARCH QUESTION
How can the design of an urban neighbourhood be adaptive to the climate impacts of rising sea levels?
ABSTRACT
TThe rapid urbanisation due to population growth in the mid-twentieth century has led to irresponsibly built environments that should have considered the implications of the environment, particularly its methodology that contributed to carbon emissions and in turn, increased the overall greenhouse gases. These emissions hastened the process of the melting of ice sheets and subsequently increased the amount of water in the ocean, which has led to rising sea levels on a global scale. Urban neighbourhoods, especially in coastal areas, are threatened by rising sea levels and the climate impacts in the form of storm surges, coastal erosion and increased intensity of flooding towards inland areas. Hence, the question is formulated as a result of the research project: how can the design of an urban neighbourhood be adaptive to the climate impacts of rising sea levels?
The research project analyses the underlying causes of rising sea levels and urbanisation, followed by projections of sea level changes and its climate impacts based on global carbon-emitting activities to determine its threat to the built environment. The project uses this analysis and data to explore the floating typology in accommodating water as an adaptive strategy for rising sea levels. The typology is then explored with urban planning to a coastal environment as it is most susceptible to sea level changes, to determine a suitable urban neighbourhood capable of floating on water as an adaptive strategy. This is then followed up by contextual design considerations as provisions to achieve resilience, stability and protection against rising sea levels in the urban neighbourhood and the wider coastal environment.

Taraxacum pseudohamatum Dahlst. (Asteraceae, Cichorioideae) -a new naturalisation from the Chatham Islands, Aotearoa / New Zealand
Taraxacum pseudohamatum is reported from Rēkohu / Wharekauri / Chatham Island in the Chatham Islands, Aotearoa / New Zealand. This species is an addition to that island group’s naturalised flora and the New Zealand Botanical Region. It is also the second member of Taraxacum Sect. Hamatum to be recorded from the islands. The first species of that section to be recorded from the islands is Taraxacum hamatum, which is still only known from a collection made from Hokorereoro / Rangatira / South East Island. Taraxacum pseudohamatum is locally common on Rēkohu / Wharekauri / Chatham Island. The species is described using material from that island, and notes on its recognition and distinction from T. hamatum presented. Bridging classroom and clinical practice: The impact of team-based learning (TBL) in imaging interpretation

To evaluate the impact of TBL in the HEAL7173 Image Interpretation course over five cohorts, assessing its effectiveness in enhancing students' understanding and equipping them with the skills needed for complex clinical environments.

Exploring User Experience and Satisfaction with the Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex) Model
The global pandemic COVID-19 has reshaped educational delivery methods, prompting many institutions to adopt flexible approaches even beyond the crisis. Te Pūkenga, a prominent regulatory body in New Zealand’s tertiary education sector, has also encouraged its partnering institutions to provide flexible learning opportunities for students. The purpose of this research is to investigate user experience and satisfaction with the Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex) model at the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) Invercargill campus in New Zealand. To achieve this, the study sets out to explore perceptions from both students and faculty members, uncovering the challenges they encounter and revealing insights into their overall satisfaction with the model. A mixed-methods approach was used to analyse data gathered through two survey techniques: a student questionnaire and interviews with faculty members. Descriptive statistical analysis was applied to 52 student responses, while qualitative thematic analysis was conducted on data from 8 faculty interviews. The findings indicated that users prefer the traditional on-campus mode for learning and delivering due to its ability to maintain engagement compared to the online mode. However, health conditions, travel barriers, and employment constraints are the primary reasons learners opt for online learning. Therefore, ensuring adequate training for students and faculty members, enhancing faculty members’ situational awareness, and regulating class sizes are vital improvements that can mitigate the challenges of maintaining interactions and enhance the overall user experience and satisfaction with the HyFlex model at SIT Invercargill campus. The derived conclusions offer only a partial view of the overall landscape due to the constraints of limited sample sizes and time. To obtain a more comprehensive and realistic perspective, future studies should involve a larger sample. Additionally, expanding the research to include other New Zealand polytechnics and universities that implement the HyFlex model would further enrich the findings
"She'll be right"; or will she? : Factors influencing MITs' knowledge, understanding and perceived competence when using digital imaging technology
BACKGROUND
Medical imaging has always undergone consistent change; however, the introduction of digital technology has accelerated that process. Digital imaging offers multiple benefits; nevertheless, concerns exist about Medical Imaging Technologists (MITs) becoming de-skilled due to over-reliance on this technology, with limited research on its impact on MITs' knowledge and understanding.
AIM
To describe and identify factors influencing MITs' knowledge and understanding of digital imaging and its application and their perceived competence in using digital technology.

Architecture of Aroha is a collaboration between Gunvor Guttorm, Berit Kristine Andersen Guvsám, Inga Ravna Eira, Tanya Reihana White and Jasmine Te Hira, curated by Zoe Black. The project unfolds a dialogue between two objects that hold important cultural significance, the wahakura and the gietkka, baby sleeping vessels from Māori and Sámi communities respectively.
Within these Indigenous groups, the making of the sleeping vessel and its materiality is more than a craft, it’s an expression of ancestral wisdom about care and love and the interconnected world that brings nature, the land, makers, family, ancestors and the extended community together. These sleeping vessels are presented in this project as examples of architectural knowledge and to show the connections between how Indigenous spaces are constructed, across the world.
The wahakura is a baby sleeping vessel from te ao Māori (the Māori world) woven from harakeke – a plant with long sword-like fronds. While the gietkka has a long history, the wahakura is a relatively recent form. It does, however, draw on the enduring customary practice of raranga (weaving)

Replacing exams with multiple tests in diploma-level first-year courses
CONTEXT
High-stakes end-of-semester exams can cause otherwise competent learners to fail a course due to lack of exam experience, stress or cognitive overload at exam time. Exams are especially a problem for learners who are new or returning to tertiary education and may not have developed the academic abilities required to adequately revise and pass such a significant assessment.
Two of the first semester courses in the NZ Diploma in Engineering are DE4101:Engineering Fundamentals and DE4102: Engineering Mathematics 1. These are common to all three engineering strands (civil, mechanical and electrical engineering), and cover a wide range of topics. Some learners report finding it difficult to adequately revise for such broad topics, along with end-of-semester assessments and other exams. This can result in students who have done well in assessments during the semester doing badly in the exams. It was suggested that multiple tests may be a better alternative to exams
Optimal pathway of battery electric and fuel cell buses in central Tokyo city for carbon neutrality in 2050
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
• Population density of Tokyo City in 2023 is 15,483 persons per km2
• In 2022, the bus transport generated 3.3 million tonnes of CO2 nationwide, and most of them are concentrated in big cities
• The Japanese government target of carbon neutrality by 2050 will require the bus fleet to be transitioned to zero emission technology
