MEMORIAL DAY FITTINGLY OBSERVED BY THE LINCOLN 
DOUGLAS MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION IN DUVAL CEMETERY.
The national order of services was carried out by the newly 
organized post of the Spanish War Veterans, Mr. David Boyd,Commander, 
After the decorating the graves with an American Flag and Flowers the 
following programs was carried out with Miss Eartha M.M.White mistress 
of ceremonies. The singing of America, then Mr. L.D.Erving,Manager of 
the Afro American Life Insurance Company, delivered a most wonderful 
address which was full of thought and inspiration. Then Hr. David 
Boyd who has served the Regular U.S.Amy in the 9th Calvery for more 
than ten years, brought echoes of his wonderful experiences. Next 
came echoes from the G.A.R.Post of the Civil Was by one of the few 
living members,, Brother Samuel Joseph, who also sang several old time 
war songs. Echoes from the World’s war were brought by Mr. Blair, and 
the same were greatly enjoyed. There wars also remarks from Mr. Anderson
Rev. John E. Ford spoke citing many important facte both past, 
present and future. The speeches were interspersed with spiritual songs. 
Mr. D.S.D.Belliny was presented to the audience and Miss White in words 
of appreciation thanked him and the Cemetery Committee for errecting the 
stand  to be used for this occasion. Mr. Belliny responded elloquent 
as he always does. The president then thanked all for their presence and 
also the Deaconess of Bethel Baptist Church,Mr.B.J. Hearn,Mrs. George 
Jefferson and others for donating flags and flowers.
Mr. Blair then gave the taps and Father Squire Jackson pronounced 
the benediction.

OF LIFE
Break Thou the Bread of life, 
Dear Lord to me,
As Thou didst break the loaves 
Beside the sea;
Beyond the sacred page
I seek Thee, Lord;
My spirit pants for Thee, 
0 living Word.
Bless Thou the truth, dear Lord, 
To me— to me—
As Thou didst bless the bread
 By Galilee;
Then shall all bondage cease, 
All fetters fall;
And I shall find my peace, 
My All in all.
Thou art the bread of Life, 
0 Lord, to me,
Thy holy Word the truth
That saveth me:
Give me to eat and live
With Thee above;
Teach me to love Thy truth, 
For Thou art love.
0 send Thy Spirit, Lord, 
Now unto me,
That He may touch my eyes, 
And make me see:
Show me the truth concealed 
Within Thy Word,
And in Thy book revealed 
I see the Lord.—Amen.
