THE APPLICATION 3D SEISMIC DATA INTERPRETATION TO HYDROCARBON PROSPECT MAPPING IN “DEDE”FIELD,NIGER DELTA
In certain frontiers, the dense sampling of 3D seismic surveys can help to identify subtle subsurface structures and thin beds through detailed imaging. The 3D technology can also provide a hint on reservoir quality. This research was carried out to show how 3D seismic data interpretation is applied to robust subsurface imaging and prediction of lateral reservoir quality. The integrated study involved 3D visualization, direct reservoir identification, structural interpretation, amplitude extraction and seismic reservoir evaluation constrained by porosity at the wells. Initial 3D visualization was done by scanning through seismic lines to locate seismic amplitude anomalies that can be related to direct hydrocarbon indicators. Amplitudes of interpreted horizons were tracked to access stratigraphic features. The tie between the significant seismic reflections and borehole section were established from the synthetic seismogram. Well log analysis was done and results compared with seismic interpretation. The seismic interpretation confirmed reservoirs which have appeared on well logs. In addition, a bright spot was observed on some of the lines in areas not penetrated by wells. Trapping mechanism for the bright spot may be stratigraphic. In addition, structural maps revealed four way closures as traps for the reservoirs interpreted from well logs at the center of the field. A MORPHOMETRIC STUDY OF FIVE SELECTED DRAINAGE BASINS IN CENTRAL NIGERIA
The physical parameters of a watershed have been shown to influence the hydrological response of the watersheds to storm events. They are useful in geo-hydrological, flood risk mapping, neo-tectonic and landform studies most especially in the many ungauged basins across the world. In the developed parts of the world, there are usually gauged basins nearby which can be used in ungauged basin predictions. In the less developed parts of the world, gauged basins are few and far between while accurate and reliable topographical maps of many basins are scarce. This makes flow predictions using basin morphometry an important subject in these areas. A morphometric study of five selected basins in central Nigeria was carried out. The results show that all the basins have elongated shape, are not compact and have low drainage density indicating moderate runoff potentials. Low stream density and high constant of channel maintenance affirm that the basins have a high permeability. The hypsometric curves show that a large part of the basins are at a low relief which is typical of the Guinea savannah found in central Nigeria. The implications of these results are critical in management decisions of sustainable use of these basins to improve rural livelihood
EMPIRICAL VALIDATION OF ONLINE FEATURES IN USER ACCEPTANCE OF WEB SHOPPING CENTERS IN NIGERIA: A PRELIMINARY STUDY
Internet shopping started in the developed world around the 1990s, but in a developing country like Nigeria, it only started around the year 2012. This paper reports on the initial investigation into online features of Web shopping centers (WSCs) and their relationships with the acceptance behaviors of customers in Nigeria. We revised and adopted the model proposed by previous researchers. We were also specifically interested in exploring only the relationships between the online features and technology acceptance model (TAM)constructs in this initial study from the view of information systems research. The results of a sample survey of 51 customers show that TAM is valid for use in predicting the acceptance behaviors of customers. This in one part agrees with the results obtained in earlier studies. However, these preliminary results can serve as a basis for further investigation of customer behaviours towards Web shopping center
NEQUICK MODEL PREDICTIONS AND THE OBSERVED TOTAL ELECTRON CONTENT (TEC) OVER NIGERIA
The Sun and its various activities such as coronal mass ejection (CME), solar flare, and solar wind is the major driver of the magnetosphere processes that have a strong bearing on the ionosphere. The equatorial ionosphere is in a constant state of perturbation because of the parallel alignment of the geomagnetic field with the surface, this is termed equatorial ionosphere anomaly. This resulted in the east - west electromagnetic field drift which is known as equatorial electrojet and the night time occurrence of scintillation/plasma bubble which is a major challenge to effective utilization of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) especially in the equatorial region for navigation, positioning and communication. Various models have been established in the prediction of ionospheric processes and perturbations in order to establish the stability and effectiveness of modern technologies which rely solely on the ionosphere. One of such models is the NeQuick2 of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Trieste which is use to predict the state of the ionosphere and it Total Electron Content (TEC). Effort were being made in this work to compare NeQuick2 model prediction with the observational data obtained from Nigeria GNSS network of two stations in Nigeria namely Enugu (UNEC) and Zaria (ABUZ). The research examines TEC during both intense geomagnetic storm period and quietperiod over the two GNSS stations in Nigeria. It was discovered that NeQuick2 model may not accurately predict TEC behaviour over Nigeria, situated in the region of equatorial ionosphere anomaly. The implications are further discussed

SEASONAL RESPONSES OF TWO FAUNAL TAXA TO FIRE TREATMENTS IN YANKARI GAME RESERVE, NIGERIA
The custom of using fire as a management tool in protected areas needs to be within a frame work of an understanding of the responses of biodiversity. This is to avoid or reduce the negative impacts of ecological disturbances in an ecosystem. More responses of floral than faunal components of biodiversity to fire have been studied and reported.This study was aimed at determining the faunal responses to fire in both wet and dry seasons at the Yankari Game Reserve (YGR)located in lat10° 30’ E and long 9° 45’ N. The birds andinsects were used in the study to bridge the knowledge gap of fire ecology in Nigeria. Point transects treated with late burns during the wet season (April to June) and early burns during the dry season (November) were used to record birds and insects. Data was collected from 37 points in the wet season and from 45 points in the dry season. Results show that fire had a significant effect on insect abundance during the wet season and there was also a significant difference between mean insect diversity in wet and dry seasons and a higher bird and insect abundance and diversities was observed in wet than in dry season. The early burn fire regime is therefore, recommended as a fire treatment regime in the YGR. The need for conservation managers to maintain equilibrium between management practices and population dynamics in ecosystems is further highlighted 
GEOSPATIAL MODELING OF LAND USE MANAGEMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN KARU, NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA
Land use management is a major challenge of urban development in Africa. Karu Area of Nasarawa State, a principal satellite town of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja is the fastest growing city in Africa since the relocation of the Federal Capital from Lagos to Abuja in 1991. The proximity of the area to Abuja has attracted rapid economic and population growth with speed up urban expansion and poor living environment. This study used geospatial technology in Land use management of the area. Multi-Criteria Decision Analysisusing Euclidean distance and weighted overlay from spatial analyst tool of ArcGIS, supported by Analytical Hierarchical Process were used to assess the suitability of the area for urban development. The Land Use Act Cap 202 of 1990 and the Nigeria Urban and Regional planning Act of 1990 were adopted using buffering operation in ArcGIS to determine encroachment of buildings/structures into approved setback areas of water bodies and road network. The study revealed land acquisition through informal delivery, resulting to haphazard constructions, and encroachment of buildings/structures into the approved setback areas. In addition, the areas are prone to flooding and erosion. It is recommended that, urgent need for the use of geospatial technology for land acquisition and management be adopted for sustainable development of the area 
COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE MOLECULAR DYNAMICS OF ANTHRACENE AND ONE OF ITS DERIVATIVE (1-HYDROXYANTHRACENE) IN GAS PHASE AND ETHANOL: RHF AND DFT STUDY
A comparative study of the molecular geometries of the organic semi-conductor material Anthracene and one of its derivative (1-hydroxyanthracene) in gas phase and ethanol is studied at the Restricted-HartreeFock (RHF) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) levels of theory by employing 6-31G basis set. The molecular structure, dipole moment, quadrupole moment, charge transfer, polarizability, energy and vibrational frequencies with Infrared (IR) and Raman intensities have been studied. Frequency analysis was carried out in all the cases to ensure that the optimized geometries correspond to total energy minima. At both level of theory it is predicted that the solvent (ethanol) has an effect of expanding the molecules as there is slight increase in most of the bond lengths, bond angles and dihedral angles as compare to gas phase analysis. For anthracene it is predicted that the bonds with the lowest bond lengths are R(1,17), R(6,20), R(13,22), R(14,23) with a bond length of 1.0719 Å in gas phase and ranging from 1.0751 to 1.0771 Armstrong in ethanol at the RHF level of theory while for 1 Hydroxyanthraceneit is predicted that the bond with the lowest bond length is R(7,15) with a bondlength of 1.0712 Å in gas phase and 1.0733 Å in ethanol at the RHF level of theory. The predicted dipole moment for Anthracene is almost zero at RHF/6-31G level and zero at B3LYP/6-31G level indicating that the molecule is not polar and the charge distribution is fairly symmetrical. The magnitude of the dipole moment obtained at B3LYP/6-31G level is slightly higher as compared to the corresponding values of the dipole moment at RHF/6-31G level. The quadrupole moment predicts that all two molecules are slightly elongated along the ZZ axis, with 1 Hydroxyanthracene showing the highest elongation at both levels of theory 
PALYNOFACIES AND THERMAL MATURITY ANALYSIS OF BZ-1 AND BZ-2 WELLS, NIGER DELTA BASIN, NIGERIA
The palynofacies and thermal maturity analysis have been carried out on one hundred and twenty composited ditch cuttings samples from BZ-1 and BZ-2 wells, offshore Niger Delta, Nigeria. The hydrocarbon potential of these sediments recovered from both wells were estimated on the basis of palynofacies analysis and thermal alteration index (TAI) values based on the palynomorphs (spore or pollen) colouration. The palynofacies analysis of the two wells reveals rich organic matter preservation, with amorphous organic matter and phytoclasts constituting the bulk of the total organic matter and low palynomorphs. The relative ratio and distribution of the palynofacies across the wells shows that the formation is gas laden and very little oil prospect. The thermal maturity deduced from the optical examination of the organic matter revealed that well BZ-1 sediments are immature while those of well BZ-2 are immature to slightly mature (TAI between - 2 and + 2 and SCI between 3 and 5).The lithological description of the analyzed sections of both wellsrevealed a clastic sequence composed of alternating sand and shale sequences with accessory shell fragments, carbonaceous detritus, ferruginous materials, mica flakes, pyrites and rare glauconit
INFLUENCE OF KNOWLEDGE AND OTHER DECISION VARIABLES IN THE ACQUISITION OF HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES AMONG CIVIL SERVANTS IN ABUJA METROPOLIS, NIGERIA
The study surveyed the influence of knowledge of consumers in making sound priority acquisition of household appliances related to some demographic factors(social class, income, family life cycle and education qualifications) as independent variables and questions on knowledge of the respondents on purchase of household appliances as dependent variables. A structured instrument was constructed covering both independent and dependent variables. The reliability of the instrument was obtained at 0.832 Chromback alpha reliability. Convenience sampling technique was used to obtain two hundred (200) samples for the analysis. ANOVA was used for hypothesis testing of significant difference at P≤ 0.05. The results of the findings revealed that for both social class [sig. at 0.000] and income [sig. at 0.000] indicates that social class and income do not influence the extent of knowledge for sound priority acquisition of household appliance while family life cycle [sig. at 0.801] and educational qualification [sig. at 0.130] indicates it does. Females [sig. at 0.000] and males [sig. at 0.017] at t – critical value of 1.96 does not indicates significant difference exists among those who do research and those who donot research about household appliance before purchase to indicate sound priority acquisition. It can be concluded that social class and income does not influence consumer’s sound priority in household appliance acquisition while family life cycle and educational qualification does. Also, to do research about appliance before purchase is not common to both male and female consumers. It is recommended that consumers of high social class and income may delegate assistants/associate to seek for knowledge or information on their behalf in order to enable them make adequate decision on household appliance. It is, also, recommended that they should avail themselves to internet technology for knowledge about household appliance
