THE CONTRIBUTION OF NEIGHBOURHOOD FACTORS ON THE CHOICE OF RESIDENTIAL LOCATIONS IN IBADAN CITY
This study investigates the significant contribution of neighbourhood factors on the choice of residential users’ locations in their decision making process within Ibadan North Local Government Area (IBNLGA) of Oyo State The research is a survey type in which the residential property users, and the property managers or agents within the three residential densities (high: Mokola, Oniyanrin, Omitowoju and Inalende-Ode Olo areas; medium: Basorun, Idi-Ape, Basorun, and Ashi areas; and low: Bodija Old and New Estates, Ikolaba Estate areas) of the selected neighbourhoods in IBNLGA; were administered structured and close-ended questionnaire to collect relevant data needed for analysis. The data were analysed using the binary logistic regression statistics (in which the dependent variable was choice of location and the variables of influence were ten neighbourhood factors) with the aid of Computer Aided Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 16. The result of the analysis revealed that neighbourhood factors influencing users’ choice of residential location varied among the three residential neighbourhoods. At P- value 0.05 levels, the common significant factor in the choice of residential neighbourhood in all the residential densities was the rent passing. In high density neighbourhood, the most significant factor for the choice of residential location was noise level and others. 
PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND MICROBIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISATION OF EDAIKEN AND SANTANA MARKETS OPEN SOLID WASTE DUMPSITES SOILS IN BENIN CITY, NIGERIA
The indiscriminate disposal of solid waste has been compromising soil quality worldwide including Benin City. This study assessed the physicochemical parameters and microbial diversity of Edaiken and Santana Markets open dumpsites soils in Benin City. Soil samples were aseptically collected using sterilised auger from depths 0 – 15cm and 15 – 30cm from January to December, 2014. The physicochemical and microbiological qualities were determined using standard methods. Santana market recorded the highest pH and electrical conductivity values of 8.78 ±0.01 in July and 2064±0.21mg/kg in May respectively. There was a highly significant differencefor electrical conductivity and cation exchange capacity at both markets (p<0.001). Edaiken market recorded the highest concentration of 31.55±0.11mg/kg for Iron in July of all heavy metals studied, however, the concentrations of heavy metals reported in this study were generally above the control. The bacterial counts ranged from 0.26±0.15 to 1.28 ±0.59 and fungal from 0.25±0.23 to 1.38±0.21cfu/g with Edaiken market recording the highest. Edaiken market dumpsite soils had a high significant difference in both bacterial andfungal counts (p<0.001). Santana market had the highest frequency of bacterial and fungal isolates; Alcaligens faecalis (45.65%) in January followed by Bacillus sp. (42.86%) in September and Aspergillus sp. (47.37%) among the fungal isolates followed by Mucor sp. with 44.83% in January at Edaiken market. Dumpsites and depths had high significant effects on the soil parameters studied (p<0.001) while time had no significant effect. The solid wastes negatively influenced the soil properties studied. 
PEER-TO-PEER BOTNETS: A SURVEY ON PROPAGATION, DETECTION AND DETECTION EVASION TECHNIQUES
Botnets have been identified as one of the major threats to users in the internet space, nowadays. Unlike other categories of malware, botnets use Command and Control channels to launch and propagate their attacks. These botnets have been classified as centralised and decentralised (Peer-to-Peer). Due to the structure, Peerto-Peer botnets have different behavioural characteristics from centralised botnets. Past researches have equally identified that Peer-to-Peer botnets are more difficult to detect and shutdown compared to centralised botnets. This work provides a survey on the propagation, detection and detection evasion techniques of Peerto-Peer botnets. The study was able to identify various machine learning-based classifiers that have been proposed to detect Peer-to-Peer botnets in the cyber space. It is believed that any identified gap in the detection mechanisms will bring better insights into P2P botnet researches. The work concluded that identifying some of the Peer-to-Peer botnet propagation mechanisms and their detection evasion techniques will enable security researchers and experts to come up with improved botnet identification and mitigation approaches
VARIATION OF SOIL MORPHOLOGICAL PROPERTIES ALONG A LITHOSEQUENCE ON BASEMENT COMPLEX GEOLOGY OF NIGERIA
Morphological properties are inherent properties that expressed the nature and properties of the parent material from which soils are formed. The variation of morphological properties of soils was evaluated along a lithosequence of soils formed from schists and older granite in the basement complex geology of Nigeria. The soils were mapped and the morphological properties were described on the field following the standard procedure. The colour of soils on schists ranged from 5YR, 7.5YR to 10YR (moist) while on older granite itranged from 2.5YR, 5YR, 7.5YR to 10YR (moist), all the soils on older granite have sandy loam texture at the surface and there is increase in cohesion down the depth of the profiles of soils studied. There were variations in colour, texture and structure between the parent materials and horizons (p≤0.05). The pedogenic processes observed are: plinthization, humification, melanization, braunification, ferritization, ferralitic weathering, elluviation and illuviation (argilluviation), insitu weathering and faunal pedoturbation. The following soil management options were recommended: construction of contour ridges along with the maintenance of plant cover, utilization of wetland areas for fisheries and dry season farming, maintenance of plant cover, incorporation of crop residues and soil crusting. 
IMPORTED WEARS AND THE ANTHROPOMETRIC DIMENSIONS OF ADULT YORUBA WOMEN: A REFLECTION OF SUITABILITY
Anthropometric study, a method of distinctions among different ethnic groups, is an important element for designing ergonomic products. This cross-sectional study evaluated the variations in body composition of adult women in Yoruba ethnic groups (aw-Yeg) and the adult female anthropometric data used to produce foreign-made wares (F-Mws) imported into Nigeria by some unidentified F-Mws industry. Conducted in two sections, assessments of F-Mws usage and fitness and the measurement of anthropometric data of the aw-Yeg, the primary data was collected from 400 aw-Yeg, in the south-western Nigeria, using structured questionnaires. About 57% of the aw-Yeg had patronized F-Mws within the past two years and 77.5% of them made some adjustments, on the wears prior to use. Some of the affected parts of the wares (reported) include; hip circumference (54%), waist circumference (53%),chest circumference (36%),chest-depth (34%), thigh and mid-thigh circumferences (35%). The study indicated some variations in the anthropometric data of aw-Yeg and the data used to produce the imported wares. Hence, aw-Yeg carried out fitting adjustments on the F-Mws. The 95th percentile anthropometry measurements of an average aw-Yegheight was 64cm, buttock popliteal was 20 cm, hip circumference (50 cm), chest breadth (20 cm) and anterior posterior chest-depth (15 cm),waist circumference (45 cm)among others.The results of this study is relevant to foreign industries who may invest in making products such as gowns, pants, skirt, bra, long or trousers for aw-Yeg in Nigeria. 
GENDER PARTICIPATION IN CASSAVA PROCESSING IN IMO STATE NIGERIA
Gender participation in cassava processing in Imo State, Nigeria was investigated. Purposive and multi-stage random sampling techniques were used in the selection of a total of 240 farmers consisting of 120 male and 120 female cassava farmers. Instrument for data collection was a structured and pre-tested questionnaire and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data generated. Majority of respondents (93.0% of males and 90.0% of females) were within the age range of 20 to 59; had formal education (97.0% of males and 95.5% of females); were married (74.0% males and 77.0% females); and had 4-9 persons per household. More males (27.0%) than females (6.0%) did not process their roots suggesting that they sold off their roots for cash while women processed probably to feed their family and then sell any surpluses. The mean distance from houses to processing centres of 2.0km and 1.69km respectively for male and female respondents suggest that males travel longer distances to process their cassava roots while females patronize those centres that were nearer. 
Evaluation of Blends of Calcium Carbide Waste and Iron Slag Dust as Stabilizer in Flexible Pavement Construction
Stabilization techniques have often been used globally to enhance properties of weak subgrade materials for flexible pavement construction. This study evaluated the blends of calcium carbide waste (CCW) and iron slag dust (ISD) as an effective stabilizer. Subgrade material sourced from a section along Ota-Idiroko road was initially modified with CCW in different percentage replacements by weight (0, 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20%) and the resulting blends were subjected to Atterberg limit test to determine the blend with optimum plasticity index reduction which would be tagged optimum subgrade lime blend (OSLB). The blend of S + 8% CCW was tagged OSLB because it exhibited optimum plasticity index reduction (14.8 to 8.7%). The OSLB was thereafter blended by weight with ISD in the following percentage replacements (3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18%) in order to activate the pozzolanicity of ISD for strength enhancement. The resulting blends were subjected to Atterberg limit, Compaction, California bearing ratio (CBR) and Unconfined compressive strength (UCS) tests with the strength specimens cured for 0, 3, 7, 28, 56 and 90 days. Results showed that OSLB-ISD blends increased Plasticity index of OSLB (8.7 to 13.1%), reduced Maximum dry density to 6% ISD (1.66 to 1.52 Mg/m3) and Optimum moisture content to 9% ISD ( 17.2 to 14.5%). Increases in 7 days soaked CBR between 3 to 9% ISD (100.1 to 141.5%) and UCS between 9 to 18% ISD (2298.02 to 3096.27 KPa) were observed. The CBR and UCS results showed that the stabilized blends at 7 days curing upgraded natural subgrade to subbase and base for pavement construction. 
AQUACULTURE INSURANCE IN SUSTAINABLE FISH PRODUCTION: CASE STUDY OF NIGERIA AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE CORPORATION, OYO STATE
This study was carried out to ascertain the level of awareness and participation of stakeholders to Aquaculture Insurance in Oyo State, South-West, Nigeria. The premium ledger of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation of the State branch was used to identify the types of agriculture insured between 2010-July 2013. Total agricultural policies paid for under review period amounts to 642 with 71 policies for Aquaculture operations ranking third, 185 Poultry second and 209 Arable first. The study revealed that the Premium received for Aquaculture Insurance amounted to ₦1,680,959:90 (US$11,206:39) during this period. Five commercial banks were responsible for all the aquaculture insurance policy undertaken. 
HEAT TREATMENT OXIDATIVE REACTIONS IN SOME EDIBLE VEGETABLE OILS
The influences of microwave heating (Microwave oven Electrolux, model EMM2005, 2450 MHz, 400 W) and thermal heating (Hot plate Thermostat, Temperature range: 25 to 125oC) for 30 min on the oxidation of groundnut oil (Arachis hypogaea) and palm oil (Elias guineensis) were studied. The heating treatments increased dry matter and oils contents at given conditions and therefore, with reduced moisture content. Analyses of the two oils determined were the acid values, peroxide values, saponification and iodine valuesusing the method of analysis of Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC). Except saponification values, all the chemical properties of the two oils from different heating treatments showed no significant (p<0.5) variations over the temperature range
AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM
The main thrust of this research is the development of an automatic temperature control system. Temperature is a measure of degree of hotness or coldness of a body or an environment. There are many activities of man where regulation of temperature is not only required but necessary. Typical example of such is the operation of egg incubation unit which requires among others a steady operational temperature. In the present research design, the device operates in such a way that when the temperature is higher than 29°C, a fan is switched on to cool down the environment while at a temperature less than 25°C, a means of raising the temperature istriggered on. In the design, LM35 is employed as temperature sensor and LCD is used to display the ambient temperature while the device has at its heart a PIC18F4550 microcontroller. The developed device can be deployed in the bird’s egg incubation unit for enhanced productivity
