    Get PDF
The paper presents a model of public policy architecture in the field of cultural heritage protection, which the authors have discovered and named: Superposition - Subsidiarity - Multilevel Governance (S-S-MLG Model). This model also describes other public policies (sectoral and horizontal), which can and should be analysed with the use of it. Therefore, the developed model is of comprehensive utility for political science, administration, and public policy practice. The first part of the paper is devoted to models for public policy analysis, i.e., decision making / decision models, process models, architecture models, evaluation models. The next issue is the definition of the cultural heritage policy as an umbrella policy for seven specific vertical policies, i.e., the policy towards immovable monuments, the policy towards movable monuments, the policy towards archaeological monuments, the policy towards intangible heritage, the policy towards heritage of exceptional value, the policy towards difficult heritage and the policy towards endangered heritage. The policy towards immovable monuments can also be named the immovable heritage protection policy. Then, the developed S-S-MLG Model is presented. The superposition principle for public policy studies is discussed in detail. Next the subsidiarity principle, its rules, and the practice of their implementation in the policy towards immovable monuments in Poland are explained. The final topic is the discussion of the Multilevel Governance (MLG) methodology as the only method of effective implementation of the assumed goals in the policy systems based on superposition and subsidiarity principles, drawing from the many years of experience of the European Union

    Get PDF
The study aims at revealing higher education student satisfaction of selected bilingual courses and teaching of the course. The study employs interviews with 87 higher education students and presents the interview results showing how satisfied they are with their bilingual courses and teachers, why they are satisfied and why they are not satisfied. The study results imply that higher education students are satisfied because the bilingual courses could broaden their global perspectives, enhance their professional knowledge while strengthen their foreign languages but they are not satisfied of the level of difficulty when they are reading textbooks in an authentic foreign language, reading boring PPT slides or doing complex homework. Meanwhile most of the higher education students are satisfied with teaching methods and the charm and personality of teachers. Moreover, the study reveals that after class interaction with teachers could make students satisfied with the bilingual course and teachers as they share with each other both knowledge and personal life experiences even though most of the students keep silent both in class and after class. Last but not least, this study provides a bunch of suggestion to promote student satisfaction of bilingual teaching

    Get PDF
A study is carried out by means of distributing a duo of questionnaires to secondary education students in a variety of schools in Northern Greece. The first of these questionnaires is aiming at the identification of the initial degree of general chemical concepts and ideas assimilation by the students and is distributed by their teachers during an early teaching hour in the senior high-school grade B class. The second questionnaire is distributed during the final weeks of the school year and aims at the mapping of integration of concepts related to stoicheiometry to students’ chemical background, since grade B of senior high-school is loaded with introductory organic chemistry and the corresponding wide variety of reactions on which a vast amount of problems to be solved is based. The validity of the questionnaires and their efficiency in fulfilling the scope of the current research is carried out by means of the application of certain post-statistical indices with the final goal being their utilization as a diagnostic tool for probing student understanding of chemical concepts

Every day, in the practical life of citizens, but also in the professional sphere, there is usually processing a lot of data that could be lost, damaged, or misused. This could also valid for the electronisation of eHealth in healthcare [Kralova, Kukurova 2013]. Healthcare professionals and eHealth specialists are required to comply with the protection rules of sensitive data. Basic information about data protection should be also provided to medicine students during university study [Kukurova, Kralova, Trnka 2013], [Kralova, Balazsiova 2014]. An anonymous questionnaire was distributed to the respondents, students of the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava. The knowledge and habits of respondents, students of general and dental medicine in the field of data protection after graduating from secondary school were identified. After the pandemic uproar, distance education in Slovakia was flexible transformed into distance education in all types of schools. In the paper, the authors describe also their experience and benefits of the LMS Moodle e-learning platform, the MS Teams video conference system, the Open Shot system MS Teams, program that allows the creation of teaching videos and the commented Power Point presentations used in the teaching process at the Faculty of Medicine at Comenius University in Bratislava [Trnka 2013]

    Get PDF
There are vast researches on the health literacy of whole populations as well as researches focused on particular groups. But there is still a group, whose levels of the health literacy are concealed - mothers in puerperium. Puerperium is a turbulent period, mothers not only need to cope with all the physical changes after delivery, but also with all the psychical challenges, new social roles and very demanding new task represented by caring of a new human being. Women in this period may lack help and information, as the provided information address much more to pregnancy and delivery and just a little to the puerperium. This article presents the results of a small research which was carried out a in the hospital in Svitavy, the Czech Republic. It shortly describes the phenomenon of health literacy and puerperium. General health literacy was examined by the EU-16 standardized questionnaire. The final number of participants was 103, the research was conducted from November 2020 to February 2021. In both fields, mothers had showed adequate levels of health literacy, however, the results are still far from excellent. These results indicate the need for continual exploration of health literacy, creating better conditions for women in puerperium for their self-development and finding the optimum ways for motivating women in puerperium to deepen and extend the level of their health literacy by different manners - for example: antenatal courses, cooperation with field midwives or studying of literature which should be created for these purposes

    Get PDF
The development of the network society has given rise to a series of technologies that are gradually being incorporated into different areas of life. In the case of the emerging technology known as Mixed Reality, however, its presence seems to be quite scarce. So, to find out the degree of possibility and knowledge possessed by teachers, in this case secondary school teachers, we constructed an instrument to measure their needs regarding this technology. As part of the R&D/Innovation project “Design, implementation and evaluation of mixed reality materials for learning environments” (PID2019- 108933GB-I00), we are presenting the instrument that will allow us to design not only materials for students but also training actions for teacher

    Get PDF
The COVID-19 pandemic situation has had a significant impact on the regular delivery of education in the academic community. High Education Institutions (HEI)around the world were forced to transform their teaching systems into online type almost overnight. The challenge was to provide education with no previous experience and competences designed for the circumstances created by the pandemic. In such a critical time for our society, access to education has evolved, more than ever. The development of digital competence in the area of online learning, including teaching at the international level resulting from increasing mobility of students and academics, should be based on the identification of needs and problems arising in this area. On the other hand, the current situation with remote teaching and restrictions on traveling, offers the universities possibility for providing new teaching modules online, that can be attended remotely, even in the future after the pandemic. Now it is time to identify challenges and problems that occurred during the transition to online teaching, draw conclusions and share the best solutions to inspire good practices. The survey and interview analyses conducted in six European countries within the Erasmus+ project “Innovative competence in online higher education” (InCompEdu) allow conclusions to drawn on the factors that may influence the success of online courses. This, in turn, will allow to identify key elements that should be included in online curricula, as well as the methods to be used
