INFLUENCE OF PROCESSING AND EXTRACTION TECHNOLOGIES ON PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF PECTIN OBTAINED FROM PUMPKIN BY-PRODUCTS
Get PDFPumpkin (Cucurbita spp.) – a tropical fruit in the family Cucurbitaceae is widely grown worldwide – including Northern Europe region. During pumpkin processing by-products – pumpkin pulp and peel remain, still containing pectin which has a unique chemical structure and physical properties. Ultrasonic (US), microwave (MW), conventional hot water/ acid (HW) was used to determine the most efficient pectin extraction method. Pectin yield (PY) calculated on a dry matter (DM) basis reached 3.8% – 16.2 % in pumpkin by-product samples. Galacturonic acid (Gal A) content reached 75.34 g 100 g -1, methoxy (ME) content - 9.55 %, equivalent weight was from 685 – 745, moisture content ≤10%, ash of extracted pectin ≤10 %. Glucose was the predominantly in pectin samples – in pectin from pumpkin peel - 31.65±9.11 g 100 g -1. Fucose was found in small amounts in all pectin samples – 0.14 – 0.87 g 100 g -1, Rhamnose 2.59 – 7.48 g 100 g -1, Arabinose – 1.82 – 7.58 g 100 g -1, Galactose, 2.42 – 17.11 g 100 g -1, Xylose 0.23 - 2.23 g 100 g -1, Mannose 0.24 – 1.38 g 100 g -1, Glucuronic acid (GlcA) – 0.32 – 1.01 g 100 g -1. The gelling properties and gel forming was different according to method of extraction and methoxy content in pectin samples - better gel forming was detected for pectin gels with pectin obtained from pumpkin pomace with US and MW. The results demonstrate that extraction without acid, assisted with microwaves and ultrasound can be effectively used as environmentally friendly methods for isolation of high-methoxylated pectin with high content of galacturonic acid (>50 %) from by-products after pumpkin processing. Pectin from pumpkin by-products further can be used as thickener, gelling agent, cation-binding agent for food and cosmetics industries
PREPARING THE LIST OF SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS HOSTED IN DISASTER RECOVERY INFRASTRUCTURE: CASE STUDY IN THE BANKING SECTOR
Get PDFIn this study, the analysis of business processes is done in a second level bank in Albania. The paper shows how to identify the systems and applications that are used by the retail banks, and how to specify the recovery time objective (RTO) for each of these systems and applications. A questionnaire has been prepared with a dedicated session for the applications and systems used during the business processes. The interviews have been conducted with the business line responsive employee in charge for the business continuity management plan. These employees are also responsible to update the questionnaire in case something changes in their day-to-day processes and to notify the business continuity manager for these changes. For each process the respondent employee has indicated all the systems and applications used by their business line during each business process. After analyzing the gathered information from the interviews, a final table is prepared where all the systems and applications used by the business lines and the respective recovery time objectives are listed

FROM ADAPTATION TO PROFESSIONAL GROWTH - A JOURNEY OF TWO PEDAGOGICAL GUIDES THROUGH THE PDS
Get PDFThis self-collaborative study is a longitudinal study describing the journey of two pedagogical guides who were the first to lead training in the PDS model and served as critical members. The study examines the training experience, how we perceive it within the model, and ways to promote it. The research tools included: a personal reflection diary of each, documenting the joint conversations and dialogues with the coaching teachers. The study\u27s findings indicated three main periods: the PDS model introduction phase, the implementation phase of the model, and the implementation phase as an integral part of the training for teaching. Also, two key aspects were identified in each period: the challenge of professional development of a professional learning community and the challenge of co-teaching. Despite our initial positions prior to entering the model, we were able to overcome the gap and experience an empowering experience that impacted us professionally as instructors. In this journey, we have moved from adapting to professional growth

This is the rationale that guides the project described here in a situation which couldn’t be more dramatic: on the one hand, we now know that education will determine the destiny of humankind, but on the other, given a future that is becoming increasingly unimaginable, we don’t have the slightest clue as to what the future of education should contain. This paradox has characterized the state of education globally for decades and all attempts at reviving it have amounted to little more than kicking a dead horse. LIMITATIONS IN THE APPLICATION OF THE ONLINE MODEL OF EDUCATION IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN SERBIA

Also, the COVID-19 period of time conditioned them to implement an online model of education without much time for the transition process. Also, there is an indication that the education system, in general, will move towards a combined (online and onsite) model in the future, as a response to new trends in Industry 4.0 era. Thus, the aim of this paper is to identify crucial limitations in the application of the online model of education for both teachers and pupils. The sample size is 166 respondents. The research instrument is the questionnaire that includes an evaluation of potential limitations in the application of the online model of education in primary schools in Serbia. The results could be used to give an adequate insight for decision-makers in this area
