Expanding PPGFeat for Multi-Dataset PPG Analysis,Comprehensive Biomarker Extraction and Machine learningfor Cardiovascular Risk Prediction
The number one cause of mortality worldwide is cardiovascular disease and early detection of cardiovascular risk factors can greatly reduce the risk of severe complications. Photoplethysmography (PPG) is a method to non-invasively measure changes in blood volume that can readily be implemented into wearable medical devices. This is beneficial as PPG can be used to estimate numerous cardiovascular parameters, however the underlying physiological mechanisms behind it are still not fully understood. PPGFeat is a MATLAB toolbox designed to support researchers in analysing raw PPG data by providing signal preprocessing and fiducial point extraction with a graphical user interface. This thesis presents the development of an updated version of PPGFeat that expands on the old toolbox by adding support for more diverse datasets, automatic signal quality assessment and expanding the number of PPG derived biomarkers. The methods for loading data were successfully extended to accommodate a larger number of datasets without negatively affecting the fiducial point extraction. Furthermore, the increased number of biomarkers were used to train two classifiers to determine hypertension status with over 55% accuracy across four classes. Finally, while automatic signal quality assessment was implemented in the toolbox, the resulting index is only marginally more accurate over using the mean signal quality of the dataset which limits its potential use
Varför flyger bajskorven? : En studie om speciallärares medvetenhet, intentioner och användning av bildstöd i undervisningen inom anpassad grundskola
Studien undersöker hur speciallärare i anpassad grundskola väljer och använder bildstöd: är valen medvetna pedagogiska strategier eller rutinmässiga handlingar? Bildstöd är en etablerad metod för att främja kommunikation, struktur och delaktighet hos elever med intellektuell funktionsnedsättning, men kunskap saknas om vilka didaktiska överväganden som styr bildvalet. 10 semistrukturerade intervjuer analyserades med reflexiv tematisk analys enligt Braun och Clarke. Fem teman identifierades: syfte, pedagogiska strategier, tillgänglighet och bildval, praktiska villkor samt elevdelaktighet. Resultaten visade att bildstöd främst användes för tydlighet, förutsägbarhet och självständighet, med strategier som sekvensering och gradvis abstraktion. Samtidigt begränsades valen av tid, verktyg och policy, vilket skapade en spänning mellan reflekterade och pragmatiska lösningar. Studien betonade behovet av fortbildning om bildval, samskapande med elever och systematik för att förankra praktiken i vetenskap och beprövad erfarenhet vilket är avgörande för likvärdig och evidensbaserad undervisning
Configurations of Seven Points in the Projective Plane over Finite Fields : Equivariant Point Counts and the Characteristic 2 Discrepancy
This thesis studies configurations of five and seven points in general position in the projective plane over finite fields. Using explicit combinatorial point counts, together with the representation theory of symmetric groups and the Weyl group W(E7), we analyse both non-equivariant and equivariant counts, where Frobenius is composed with permutations of the labelled points. For n = 5 we recover, refine, and reinterpret the classical equivariant point counting polynomials, showing that they correspond exactly to a decomposition involving the three irreducible S5-characters of dimensions 1, 5 and 6. The main result is a complete resolution of an open problem concerning equivariant point counts for seven points in characteristic 2. We prove that, for every Frobenius-twisted permutation class, the discrepancy between the characteristic 2 point counting polynomial and its odd characteristic analogue is given by a single, uniform correction term. This correction is shown to coincide with a 135-dimensional permutationcharacter of W(E7); see Theorem 5.2 in Section 5. The phenomenon is traced to geometric features unique to characteristic 2, notably the existence of nuclei of smooth conics, and admits a natural interpretation in terms of the cohomology of the moduli space of seven points

The aim of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of how the establishment process has been experienced by newly arrived individuals who came to Sweden during the 2015 refugee wave. The study employs a qualitative approach, based on six semi structured interviews. A hermeneutic perspective was used to interpret the participant's subjective experiences of integration into society.The theoretical framework includes empowerment, Antonsovsky´s theory of Sense of Coherence (KASAM), and Bourdieu´s theory of capital. Empowerment was used as an analytical tool to highlight an individual´s opportunities to influence their life conditions. KASAM helped to understand how comprehensibility, manageability, and meaningfulness affect the establishment process, while Bourdieu's theory of capital provided a nuanced understanding of how various resources and perceptions of social status shape the pathways of integration.The results indicate that the establishment process is complex and multidimensional, with individual strategies interacting with societal structures and support measures. Participants navigate between personal initiatives, support from social service and systemic barriers, influencing their opportunities for participation and long-term integration. The study emphasizes the need for flexible, individualized and coordinated measures that promote empowerment, inclusion, and sustainable integration.
Lärares uppfattningar och hantering av Artificiell Intelligens i gymnasieskolan
Användning av Artificiell Intelligens (AI) har ökat inom utbildningsssektorn, både bland elever och lärare. Lärarnas direkta kontakt med elevers AI-användning kan anses utgöra en grund för deras attityder och medför en betydelsefull aspekt i sammanhanget. Syftet med studien var att undersöka gymnasielärares attityder till, samt hantering av generativ AI i yrkesutövningen. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) kombinerades med copingteori för att analysera hur gymnasielärares uppfattningar och attityder tillämpas i praktiken. Studien genomfördes med en kvalitativ ansats där semistrukturerade intervjuer med sex gymnasielärare som analyserades tematiskt. Resultaten visade en övervägande positiv beteendeavsikt gentemot AI. Upplevd belastning verkade främst kopplas till avsaknad av riktlinjer från ledningsnivå, snarare än i attityderna mot AI. Samtidigt framkom problematik avseende ökade krav och belastning på lärare. För att hantera dessa utmaningar tillämpar lärarna problem- och emotionsfokuserade copingstrategier. Studien indikerar behov av strategiska planeringar av implementering av AI i utbildningssyften för att stödja lärare i sin profession
Digitala strategier för ökat engagemang i cirkulär konsumtion : En fallstudie angående ReTuna återbruksgalleria
Abstract: The transition to a circular economy requires new ways of engaging consumers in reuse and sustainable consumption. Digital solutions have the potential to support this transition by influencing motivation, engagement, and behavior. The aim of this study is to examine how three digital prototype scenarios (gamification, transparency, and convenience) are perceived by users in relation to engagement in circular consumption within the context of the ReTuna reuse mall. The study was conducted as a qualitative case study with quantitative elements. Data collection consisted of user tests with semi-structured interviews conducted on-site at ReTuna, complemented by a digital survey distributed via ReTuna´s social media channels. Respondents were asked to evaluate three designed prototypes representing different digital strategies related to reuse. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that gamification was perceived as the most motivating strategy by the majority of respondents, particularly through rewards and tangible incentives. Transparency was experienced as meaningful and value-creating, especially among respondents with an existing interest in environmental issues, while convenience was mainly associated with improved user experience rather than increased motivation to contribute. The study provides insights into how digital solutions can be designed to enhance engagement in circular consumption and offers practical implications for the development of digital services within reuse-based organizations.
Children’s and youth mental health in all policies? : a document analysis
Background Given the extent of mental ill health among children and youth, as well as the complexity and interconnection of determinants of mental health, effective governance, including local-level policies, is of utmost importance. This study explores how municipal governing documents address the promotion of mental health in children and youth and the prevention of mental ill health and suicide. MethodsA document analysis was conducted. The websites of Sweden’s 290 municipalities were searched for governing documents addressing mental health, mental ill health, and suicide concerning children and youth. In total, 377 documents were retrieved and analysed using content analysis. Results The findings show that children and youth mental health was addressed in a variety of municipal governing documents, ranging from specific plans for individual schools to plans for public health and urban development. In the documents, the following patterns were found: i) specific identification of groups among children and youth; ii) accountability for the promotion of mental health and prevention of mental ill health; and iii) prevention methods. Overall, municipalities identify specific groups vulnerable to mental ill health but target “all” children and youth. The primary actor for prevention is the school, which should work with evidence-based programmes focusing on psychoeducation. Conclusions The documents contain contradictions. Vulnerable groups were identified in the documents, but they were not specifically targeted in the measures taken. Municipalities also strive to educate children and youth in mental health despite identifying issues at a societal level

Scenario analysis of hydrochar production for incorporation into boreal soils : a life cycle and technoeconomic assessment
Agriculture and forest ecosystems are significant contributors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, making mitigation strategies essential for sustainable land application. This study assesses the sustainability impact of converting wood residues into hydrochar for use as a soil amendment to reduce GHG emissions and enhance carbon sequestration. Through a comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) and technoeconomic analysis (TEA) of establishing hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) process in pulp and paper mills, this research addresses a critical knowledge gap. The LCA indicates that applying hydrochar in boreal soils without additional fertilizers is advantageous in terms of climate change mitigation, resulting in net CO2-equivalent savings of up to 300 kg per year. The TEA indicates that although advanced technologies for wastewater treatment from the HTC process entail higher initial costs, they yield greater financial returns compared to conventional methods. These findings suggest that HTC units have the potential to offer climate change mitigation benefits and improved economic performance when valorizing wood residues compared to the mono-incineration process

Undersökningenbygger på retorik som ramverk och genomförs med litteraturstudier,benchmarking, kvalitativa intervjuer och fokusgrupp. Detta bidrar till att skapa enprototyp som civilsamhälleliga organisationer kan använda för att informera omsjukdomen på Facebook. Studien visar hur topiker, paradigm, statuslära och parteslära kan nyttjas för attförmedla trovärdig information som intresserar och berör målgruppen. Resultatetär en prototyp som skildrar olika perspektiv och öppnar upp för diskussion.How can rhetoric be used to change people’s attitudes? This study examineshow rhetoric theories can be put to practical use to design and communicateinformation about a stigmatized disease such as substance use disorder. Aprototype to inform about the disease on Facebook is being designed toinvestigate how the theories can be used in the design process and how therecipients are influenced by the information. The study shows how topics, paradigms, status theory, and the five canonsof rhetoric can be used to convey credible information that interests andengages the target group. The result is a prototype that depicts differentperspectives and opens up for discussion
