Teachers’ Perception on Impact of Corruption on Quality Education and Attainment of Primary School Social Studies Objectives in Katsina State, Nigeria
Get PDFThis research work titled “Teachers’ perception on impact of corruption on quality education and attainment of primary school Social Studies objectives in Katsina State, Nigeria” was carried out in some selected Primary Schools in Katsina State. The researchers’ used descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised of all primary School teachers of the selected primary schools numbering 4,200 consisting of 2,800 male and 1,400 females. A sample of 381 teachers’ at 95% confidence level and 5% precision as determined by research advisors (2006) table of specification for determining sample size selection was selected using simple random sampling technique. The study used teachers’ perception questionnaire on quality education tagged (TEPQQED). The instrument was duly validated by experts in Social Studies, English Language and statistics for content, as well as constructs validity and has reliability index power of 0.91. The data collected were analyzed using percentage and frequency counts, mean and standard deviations. The study revealed that there was no significant difference in the perception of teachers on the impact of corruption on quality education and pupils’ ability to develop national consciousness and spirit of national unity in Primary School in Katsina State Nigeria. In the light of the foregoing, the study recommended that Primary schools in Katsina State in particular and Nigeria by extension should have SERVICOM units to fight corruption and other related offences hence, to have impact on quality education and pupil’s ability to develop national consciousness and spirit of national unity in Primary School in Katsina State Nigeria and as well attain the right types of attitudes and values to participate in National development

The study utilized secondary data obtained from both online publications and print materials. The findings reveal a significant correlation between infrastructure facilities and the job performance of academic staff in Nigeria. Essential facilities such as lecture rooms, electronic libraries, laboratories, lecturer offices, ICT facilities, internet services, electricity, and water play a crucial role in supporting academic staff in fulfilling their responsibilities. In light of these results, the paper advocates for increased government funding for tertiary institutions, emphasizing the importance of such financial support to enable institution managers to adequately provide essential infrastructure
A Tagmemic Analysis of Subject-Verb Agreement in English and Arabic in Selected Quranic Texts : A Contrastive Study
Get PDFThe current study is a contrastive analysis devoted to check the subject–verb agreement in English and Arabic to find out the points of similarities and differences between the two languages at sentence level. In order for that to happen, a grammatical theoretical framework, namely, Pike's Tagmemic Theory, is applied to some selected Quranic Texts, in an attempt, to describe the subject–verb agreement in both languages. Tagmemic theory deals primarily with grammatical analysis, associated with Kenneth Lee Pike. It is an branch of structuralism. But Structuralism concentrated only on form and ignored functions of a linguistic form. Tagmemics mixes together the form and the function of a linguistic entity (Pike and Pike,1977:20). According to Cook and Walter (1969:15), a tagmeme is "the relation between a functional slot with the class of items that fill that slot. This unit is not only the denotation of a form unit, as in other grammatical models, but it consists of a function and form." Get PDFIn vitro experiments have shown that heavy metals Cu2+ and Cd2+ effectively affect respiration and the system of oxidative phosphorylation of mitochondria. Ca2+ ions inhibit mitochondrial respiration in the V3 and V4 states, uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation. The effect of Cd2+ on respiration and oxidative phosphorylation of mitochondria differs from the effect of Co2+ and other heavy metals. At the same time, Cd2+ increases mitochondrial respiration in low concentrations, and inhibits it in high concentrations. The results obtained in this work expand the traditional understanding of the various mechanisms of action of heavy metals on the bioenergetic metabolism of the cell
Addressing Education Calendar Stability in a Crisis Environment in Nigeria: The Impact of e-Learning and Online Examination

Under conditions of teaching and research that are free from tension and fear, the objectives of the educational system are possible. Unfortunately, Nigeria's cultism, violence, armed robberies, sexual harassment, kidnappings, banditry, and other problems have made the educational environment insecure. This paper discusses the stability of the educational calendar in a time of crisis in Nigeria as well as the effects of online learning and online examination. The paper emphasized that schools across the nation move from on-site to online learning and online examination in an effort to lessen the impact of insecurity on the educational system and prevent student brain-drain in order to address these administrative academic calendar stability challenges, prevent the closure of schools and shifting of examination dates, and prevent student exodus. Based on this, the paper suggested that the government establish an office for education technology to support, educate, and keep teachers (lecturers) and students abreast of new technologies. It also suggested that students be given computers and other necessary educational software to hasten their learning, as well as CCTV cameras installed in every area of the school, including the classrooms; and WAEC and GCE adopt online examination system
