No full textAbstract Electrically conductive coordination polymers (ECCPs), particularly those incorporating benzenehexathiol (BHT) ligands, are emerging as a distinctive class of electronic materials with tunable semiconducting and metallic properties. However, the exploration of novel ECCPs with low‐symmetry structures and electrical anisotropy remains under development. Here, we report the on‐water surface synthesis of a novel ECCP, namely Cu 5 BHT, which exhibits a low‐symmetry structure and unique in‐plane electrical anisotropy that differs from the well‐known Cu 3 BHT phase. Utilizing imaging and diffraction techniques, we elucidate the unit cell and crystal structure of Cu 5 BHT, revealing an asymmetric arrangement of the kagome resembling lattice connected by two different secondary building units: square planar CuS 4 and non‐planar Cu 2 S 4 . Theoretical studies indicate that Cu 5 BHT is metallic and exhibits in‐plane electrical anisotropy due to the structure arranged in interconnected well‐conducting CuS 4 chains and less‐conducting Cu 2 S 4 slabs oriented along single crystal direction. Single‐crystal electrical measurements confirm a metallic character characterized by the increase of conductance upon cooling. Notably, the measured conductance along different crystal directions within the ab plane unambiguously reveals a significant anisotropy, with an anisotropic factor reaching ~8. Effects of Mental Training as a Sport Psychology Intervention in the Rehabilitation of Competitive Athletes
No full textIm Leistungssport nutzen Athlet:innen das Mentale Training zur Leistungssteigerung und Be-
wegungsperfektionierung. Es besteht aufgrund der hohen Frequenz von Sportverletzungen im Leistungssport und der damit zusammenhängenden Wiederherstellung von motorischen Bewe-
gungen die Annahme, dass das Mentale Training den bewegungsbezogenen Lernprozess in der
Rehabilitation effektiv unterstützen kann. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Ermittlung
der Auswirkungen von motorischen Bewegungsvorstellungen als eine ergänzende sportpsycho-
logische Intervention auf den Rehabilitationsverlauf von Leistungssportler:innen. Um diese Zielsetzung zu realisieren, wird ein systematisches Review mit 13 ausgewählten Studien durch-
geführt. Insgesamt wurden 1523 Proband:innen in die Analyse einbezogen.
Die Auswertung der Studien ergibt als zentrales Ergebnis, dass durch die Anwendung von mo-
torischen Bewegungsvorstellungen ein ganzheitlich besserer Rehabilitationsverlauf der Ath-
let:innen im Vergleich zu einer ausschließlichen physischen Rehabilitation erreicht wird. Im
Kontrast zur konventionellen Rehabilitation sorgt das Mentale Training für einen gesteigerten
Bewegungsradius, eine erhöhte Muskelaktivität, eine reduzierte Laxität sowie verringerte neu-
robiologische Werte von Dopamin und Nordadrenalin. Trotz der subjektiv empfundenen Be-
schleunigung wird die Genesungsdauer nicht verkürzt. Außerdem reduzieren motorische Be-
wegungsvorstellungen Ängste sowie Schmerzen und das Mentale Training ist für eine Zunahme
des psychischen Wohlbefindens ursächlich. Aufgrund dessen wird insgesamt das Mentale Trai-
ning als ergänzende sportpsychologische Intervention in der Rehabilitation von Leistungssport-
ler:innen befürwortet. Es ist notwendig, dass sich die zuständigen Therapeut:innen mit der re-
habilitativen Integration des Mentalen Trainings auseinandersetzen, damit ein besseres Reha-
bilitationsergebnis der Leistungssportler:innen gewährleistet wird. Die Durchführung von wei-
teren Forschungen ist essenziell, um methodische Problematiken der ausgewählten Studien zu
verbessern, objektivere Methoden zur Erhebung des mentalen Phänomens anzuwenden und die Ergebnisse zu verifizieren
Pesticide regulatory homogeneity and firms' import decisions: Evidence from EU‐Swiss agri‐food trade
No full textCountry-specific variations in food standards often reflect national regulatory traditions, but they also disrupt trade by increasing associated costs and limiting market access. Aligning such standards between countries should reduce or eliminate the additional market access costs and enhance trade. Yet, whereas evidence abounds on the trade effects of country-specific public mandatory food standards, relatively little is known about the trade effects of regulatory homogeneity across countries. Exploiting the EU–Swiss trade relationship and data on maximum residue limits (MRLs) for pesticides, we assess the channels that explain the effects of regulatory homogeneity of standards on agri-food imports. Estimating a reduced-form gravity model, we find that similarity in Swiss-EU MRLs on a product-pesticide pair increases Swiss product-level imports from the EU by 10%. This consists of a 7.7% increase in the average import value per product per firm, a 1.4% increase in the number of product varieties imported and a 0.6% increase in the number of importing firms. Regulatory homogeneity also increases import volumes by 9.4% and decreases import prices by 1.6%. Accounting for firm heterogeneity, we find more pronounced trade effects for smaller firms. These findings are confirmed in firm-product level estimations, where we also find that the import-enhancing effects increase with increasing regulatory heterogeneity. Our results imply that even with mutual recognition, there remains a preference for imports that align with domestic standards. In terms of policy implications, our findings show that regulatory homogeneity enhances food security by increasing product variety and lowering prices
Aktivismus, Diskurs und Handlungsvermögen am Beispiel der Letzten Generation
No full textDie Klimakrise bewegt. Das zeigt sich auch an der Zunahme von Klimagerechtigkeitsbewegungen.
Seit Oktober 2022 dominiert die Letzte Generation den Diskurs über
Klimaaktivismus in Deutschland. Vor allem, weil die Protestformen der Bewegung stark
polarisieren und immer wieder Debatten über zivilen Ungehorsam entfachen. Doch was
bewegt die Aktivist*innen dazu, den Komfort ihres Zuhauses gegen die Gefahren und
Konsequenzen des Protestes einzutauschen und wie bewegt die Letzte Generation die
Öffentlichkeit? Diese Doppelperspektive hat mich 2023 durch acht Monate Feldforschung
bei der Letzten Generation begleitet und mich schließlich die Rolle von Emotionen in den
Mittelpunkt stellen lassen. Wo kommen Emotionen im Aktivismus der Letzten Generation
vor und werden Emotionen strategisch eingesetzt, um sowohl innerhalb der Bewegung als
auch in der Öffentlichkeit Effekte zu erzielen? Um die Klimakrise in ihrer Komplexität zu
begreifen, wird sie in dieser Arbeit sowohl als naturwissenschaftliches als auch soziales
Phänomen betrachtet. Aufbauend auf Foucaults diskursanalytischen Ansätzen werden
Emotionen als soziale Praktiken verstanden, die sich als kommunikative Performanz auf den
Diskurs, das körperliche Erfahren und das Handlungsvermögen von Akteuren auswirken
können. Die Social-Movement-Theory ermöglicht ergänzende Einblicke in den Aktivismus
und hilft dabei, Wirkmacht und strategische Bedeutung von Emotionen sowie emotionale
Reaktionen der Öffentlichkeit zu untersuchen. Die Ergebnisse der Feldforschung zeigen,
dass Emotionen eine zentrale Rolle im Aktivismus der Letzten Generation spielen. Sie sind
fester Bestandteil der Proteststrategie und werden sowohl nach innen als auch nach außen
gerichtet. Emotionen sind das, was die Bewegung in Bewegung hält, sie wachsen lässt und
stärker macht.The climate crisis moves. This is also reflected in the increase in climate justice movements.
Since October 2022, the Letzte Generation has dominated the discourse on climate activism
in Germany. Especially because the movement’s protest forms are highly polarizing and
repeatedly spark debates about civil disobedience. But what motivates activists to trade the
comfort of their homes for the dangers and consequences of protest and how does the Letzte
Generation move the public? This double perspective guided me through eight months of
fieldwork with the Letzte Generation in 2023 which eventually led me to focus on the role
of emotions. Where do emotions occur in the Letzte Generation activism and are emotions
used strategically to achieve effects both within the movement and in the public sphere?
To understand the climate crisis in its complexity, it must be seen as both a physical and a
social phenomenon. Building on Foucault’s discourse-analytical approaches, emotions are
understood as social practices that can have an impact on the discourse, physical experience
and agency of actors. The Social-Movement-Theory provides additional insights into activism
and helps to examine the power and strategic meaning of emotions as well as the emotional
reactions of the public. The results of the field research show that emotions play a central
role in the activism of the Letzte Generation. They are an integral part of the protest strategy
and are directed both inwards and outwards. Emotions are what keep the movement going
