Conflict or Cooperation? Assessing Security Architectures and Power Dynamics in the Indian Ocean
This paper examines the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) as a potential area for international cooperation or as a source of international tension. In the twenty-first century, IOR has become the focal point of geostrategic struggle. The overlap of global and regional interests from rival states triggers both conflict and cooperation. The Indian Ocean, which encompasses a few of the busiest trade routes, energy transfer avenues, and critical chokepoints, is key to international economy and sea lanes security. (Smith, 2020). Simultaneously, the area witnesses increasing naval presence in form of rising maritime rivalries, particularly military confrontations between India and China alongside evolving regional security structures. Through multi-systemic exploration of military-strategic regional alliances, security architectures, and tension-prone areas, this research rests on the hypothesis that the Indian Ocean is an evolving contested geopolitical theater rather than a collaborative zone. Upon further investigation it was found that while concealed wars, conflict of interest, and imbalanced world order prevail over the region, the prospects for international cooperation and counter-strategic policies to oppose prevailing competition provide equilibrium, thus subverting conflict to alliance. The area is certainly sensitive to strategic conflict, however, undermining anger with multilaterals could lead to fostering peace, making this understanding critical when formulating sea policies and maintaining stability. Factors Influencing the Policyholders Satisfaction Towards Mediclaim Policy
Insurance plays a vital role in healthcare management, with mediclaim policies being particularly crucial for managing medical expenses. This research examines the key factors influencing policyholder satisfaction in mediclaim insurance through a comprehensive mixed-method study of 500 policyholders across urban and semi-urban areas. Using the SERVQUAL model and Customer Satisfaction Index methodology, the study identifies five primary factors affecting satisfaction: claim settlement efficiency (correlation coefficient: 0.82), customer service quality (0.76), premium affordability (0.71), policy coverage breadth (0.69), and transparency in terms (0.65). The research employs stratified random sampling and utilizes both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews conducted over six months. Findings indicate that prompt claim settlement and clear communication significantly impact satisfaction levels, while digital accessibility and personalized service emerge as growing priorities. The study reveals a notable correlation between premium affordability and perceived value, with comprehensive coverage options enhancing satisfaction. Based on these findings, the research proposes specific recommendations for insurance providers and policymakers, including the implementation of automated claim processing systems, development of transparent communication channels, and establishment of standardized settlement timelines. This study contributes to the understanding of consumer behavior in health insurance and provides actionable insights for industry stakeholders
Current Challenges in The Management of Chronic Kidney Disease Patients in India
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a major and rising public health issue in India that affects almost 17% of the adult population. The recent treatment issues with CKD patients in India from 2023 to 2025 are investigated in this paper based on the results of a number of recent studies. The five important challenges are recognized to be: restricted access to early diagnosis and nephrology treatment, low affordability of transplant and dialysis treatment, fragmentation between public and private sectors, poor mental health and nutritional treatment, and post-COVID-19 systemic disruptions.
Despite programs such as the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program and Ayushman Bharat, knowledge and implementation gaps, especially among rural and deprived populations, prevail. Out-of-pocket costs, long travel to reach treatment sites, substandard trained staff, and unpredictable frequencies of dialysis are endured by patients. There is social stigma, lack of awareness of CKD, and inadequate incorporation of mental health or dietary counseling within care as well. The article also highlights the economic and psychological cost of the treatment disruption during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
This paper integrates current policy reviews, epidemiological data, and clinical practice with a qualitative synthesis approach. Suggested interventions include the development of nephrology facilities, initiation of national screening, insurance reform, and the inclusion of holistic, patient-focused care models. Without an imminent multisectoral intervention, the CKD burden in India will rise, worsening morbidity and increasing health disparities
From Temporary to Permanent Employment? How Education and Labor Laws Shape Job Mobility in Indian Manufacturing
India's registered manufacturing sector experienced a noteworthy change in employment structure in the early 2000s, marked by a significant increase in the use of contract workers over permanent employees. This paper investigates whether workers with temporary contracts climb up the job ladder or if they find themselves trapped in periods of temporary labour (focusing on dualistic labour segmentation) with particular emphasis on the influence of educational attainment and the enforcement of Employment Protection Legislation (EPL). Utilizing comprehensive data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), we analyze how individuals’ educational attainment and the stringency of EPL shape employment patterns, specifically affecting the likelihood of securing permanent positions. The results show that educational attainment does not have a positive impact on the upward job mobility of contract workers. Additionally, stricter enforcement of EPL makes it less likely for individuals to transition from contractual to permanent employment, possibly due to the increased job security of permanent workers or to evade labour laws
Does Handloom Export from India Face a Structural Break?
This study investigates the presence of a structural break in India’s handloom export trajectory with special reference to the trade relationship with the United States and some of the European countries. Considering recent changes in US tariff policies, disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, associated transformations in global supply chains, and changes in consumer behavior, this study uses the Chow test and Boyce’s kinked exponential growth model to evaluate the handloom export dynamics of India. Using the secondary data, the study identifies a statistically significant structural break during 2019, coinciding with the pandemic and exacerbated by transformations in trade relations with the US and some of the mature Western markets. The kinked growth model identifies the stagnant growth pattern in the pre-covid period and a sharp decline after the break. The study brings out the vulnerability in our traditional trade relations with some of the Western markets and calls for developing new strategic trade relationships focusing on diversification. The study also indicates the importance of institutional support and policy realignment to protect the vulnerable but socioeconomically and culturally important handloom sector
A Journey through Time: Changes and Challenges for the Migrant Tribes at Krushnanagar
Migration has increasingly become a global phenomenon. The study is mainly based on the issues faced by migrated tribes residing in the village of Krushnanagar. Effect of Macro-economic Factors on the Trading Styles of Institutional Investors
Institutional investors, known for their professional expertise and high-volume trading, vary in their investment horizons and strategies, particularly in how they respond to macro-economic factors. This study investigates whether foreign institutional investors(FIIs) and domestic institutional investors (DIIs) in India adopt different trading styles in relation to macro-economic factors, with a particular focus on momentum and contrarian trading. The study uses the monthly aggregated investment flows of institutional investors in the equity market to measure the trading style from 1st April 2012 to 31st March 2024. The trading style of institutional investors is measured using the Buy Ratio. Further to determine which macro-economic factors increase the likelihood of institutional investors going momentum or contrarian is examined using the logistic regression model. The findings show institutional investors do not mimic each other trading style with respect to macro-economic announcements. The results reveal that there exist significant positive and negative relations between a few macro-economic factors and institutional investors. The study finds evidence that FIIs chase the market return and pursue a momentum trading style while DIIs adopt a contrarian trading style.
