    Get PDF
This study investigates the relationship between financial literacy and financial well-being among marginalized women, focusing on the moderating role of caste-based discrimination. Despite affirmative action programs in India, caste-based inequalities persist, impacting access to resources and economic opportunities. Data from 404 Scheduled Caste women in Karnataka’s Koppal district, an underbanked region, were analyzed using structural equation modelling (Smart PLS). The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between financial literacy and financial well-being, indicating that financial literacy enhances financial stability, security, and informed decision-making among scheduled caste women. However, caste-based discrimination negatively affects financial well-being and moderates the FL-FW relationship, reducing the benefits of financial literacy in promoting well-being. This highlights systemic barriers that limit marginalized women’s ability to achieve financial empowerment. This research contributes to the discourse on social equity and economic empowerment, emphasizing the intersection of financial literacy, well-being, caste, and gender. It underscores the necessity of addressing systemic barriers to ensure financial literacy initiatives benefit marginalized communities effectivel

Land Use Effects on Climate Change and Role of Social Capital in The Context of Cyclone Ockhi in Kerala

    Get PDF
Land use changes have made Kerala State extremely vulnerable to natural calamities and shifting climatic dynamics. Landslides and floods are the State's most frequent natural disasters. An initial assessment indicates that the State's coastal regions, especially South Kerala, have seen changes in land usage, which has led to climate change and increased susceptibility to cyclones and other natural catastrophes. The coastal community's social networking with other communities is too poor, which is likely the reason they are having a difficult time recovering after storm Ockhi in 2017. As a result, post-disaster rescue and relief efforts in Thiruvananthapuram indicate that there is likely uneven social capital distribution among various demographic and spatial/regional groupings, which has a negative impact on how victim's post-disaster demands are met. Therefore, this study uses satellite imagery and maps to investigate how land use and land cover affect climate change in the Ockhi-affected areas of the Thiruvananthapuram district. Using a primary survey conducted in two villages in Kerala hit by Cyclone Ockhi, it also examines the spatial distribution of social capital and how well it works in allocating relief aid to the victims. The findings indicate a notable shift in the land cover and land use in the Thiruvananthapuram district's coastal region between 2000 and 2018. Furthermore, the inability of the government to help fishermen develop resilience demonstrates a distinct spatial distribution of social capital between coastal communities and other groups. Thus, it appears that social capital is essential throughout the natural catastrophe restoration phase

Analysis is done on short- and long-term relation. Additionally, LNFDI and LNGDP per capita have unidirectional Granger causality

Unveiling the Literary Journey: Mapping the Development of Santali Literature from 1867 to 2021

    Get PDF
Adivasi or Tribal literature in India possesses a rich and profound history, evolving into a dynamic and influential medium of cultural expression. While these literatures are frequently associated with ancient texts and myths, it also represents a dynamic and evolving form of literature, continually shaped by the community's changing realities. The Santali literature too plays a vital role in reflecting the culture, heritage, and unique worldview of the Santali people. Despite its rich and varied literary heritage, much of Santali literature remains either undocumented or poorly indexed, preventing its full integration into mainstream literary studies. This lack of comprehensive documentation limits the broader understanding of Santali culture and its potential contributions to academic and cultural discussions. So, the main aim of this study is to explore and map the bibliometric data available on Santali literature since 1867-2021 available from multiple databases. The findings reveal a marked increase in literary output post- independence, with Indian scholars contributing extensively to research focused on historical, anthropological, social, and cultural dimensions. The study identifies key thematic progressions, including historical and anthropological theme, social and cultural themes, indigenous knowledge systems and developmental themes, indicating a broadening of focus within the literature. On the broader note the study emphasizes the need for a more nuanced, inclusive approach to documenting and disseminating Santali literary works, which could enrich both regional and national literary landscapes.
