The Indian tourist business has been expanding at a healthy clip over the last several years.  With an average daily tariff of around $85 USD in 2016, hotels had their lowest performance in a decade.  The occupancy rate of India's hotel business has been stable at roughly 60% every year for the last many years, even though the average daily tariff has been declining.  Traditional hotel room occupancy has been declining as non-traditional lodging options such as home stays, hostels, serviced flats, Airbnb, and OYO Rooms have emerged.  When it comes to infrastructure, connectivity, and tourist safety, India's travel and tourism sector is seeing a fresh wave of growth.  Everything from a state or city to a specific historical monument, a hotel, a conference center, or any other kind of venue may be advertised as a tourist destination via tourism marketing. It cannot be restricted with particular aspects of travel and tourism

    Get PDF
The 1971 influx of refugees from Bangladesh into India marked a significant moment in South Asian history, as Pakistan’s military operation in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) led to the mass displacement of individuals, including the Chakma community. This was not the first occurrence of such mass migration, with a previous wave of refugees arriving in India from East Pakistan during 1964-65. This paper examines the challenges faced by the Chakma community in India and the legal initiatives undertaken by the Government of India and the Supreme Court to safeguard their identity. Additionally, the study explores the impact of Bilateral Land Boundary Agreements in shaping refugee settlements and policies. Based on qualitative data drawn from secondary sources such as research papers, articles, and annual reports published by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) regarding refugee settlements in Northeast India, this research presents an in-depth analysis of the community’s plight. The findings highlight the persistent difficulties faced by the Chakma Community for over six decades, with ongoing struggles in the present era

    Get PDF
This study explores the interrelationship among financial stress, well-being, and sustainable finance based on a gender-sensitive perspective. Financial stress has significant effects on mental health, physical well-being, and life satisfaction, with gendered differences that are influenced by socio-economic status, resource access and cultural norms. Men and women experience and respond to FS in different ways. Therefore, approach levels of attaining the disparities among them should be tailored. The research focuses on three main areas: the impacts of FS on mental and physical health and life satisfaction, gender-specific financial stressors, and the potential of sustainable finance practices such as financial inclusion and literacy programs to mitigate FS and improve well-being. This study uses a mixed-method approach, analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data. The Financial Stress Scale (FSS) and Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) were analyzed by gender. Despite the ample evidence that relates FS to well-being, it is still a subject of limited studies, especially by gender. Therefore, this paper will fill this gap by providing information on how sustainable finance can facilitate resilience and equitable well-being

Assessment of Landslide Susceptibility in the Himalayan Region: A Case Study of Rishikesh-Yamunotri Corridor

    Get PDF
The findings of the statistical models based on geographic information systems (GIS) for creating landslip susceptibility maps utilising remote sensing data and geographic information systems for the Rishikesh to Yamunotri corridor of Uttarakhand are presented in this study. Cartosat, Landsat, IMD, and India water resources data were used to extract ten factors: slope, aspect, soil, lithology, NDVI, LULC, distance to stream, precipitation, distance to road, and elevation. Using GIS-based statistical models, such as the analytical hierarchy process (AHP), which assigns ranks and weights to various factors to determine which factors are more responsible for landslides, the relationships between the detected landslide locations and these ten related factors were identified. The three landslide zone categories, high, medium, and low, on the landslip inventory map were developed using various things like field surveys and digital aerial photos. Regional planning and hazard mitigation would benefit from these landslip susceptibility maps

Examining The Dynamics of Personality Traits And Religiosity in Shaping Investment Biases: A Gendered Perspective

    Get PDF
Investment choice is frequently disguised by psychological bias, and investors are frequently led off track from rational decision making. This research examines the impact of religiosity and the Big Five personality traits on two primary investment biases, loss aversion and mental accounting, moderated by gender. With a sample size of 321 individual investors in Goa, India, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) identifies that Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, and Neuroticism all increase both biases significantly, while Openness to Experience influences mental accounting only. Religiosity also increases both biases. Notably, gender moderates these relationships, particularly the effects of Neuroticism and Religiosity on both biases. Additionally, gender influences the relationship between Agreeableness and mental accounting , as well as the associations of Conscientiousness, Extraversion, and Openness with loss aversion. These results emphasize the essential role of gender in determining how personality and religiosity lead to financial biases, highlighting the necessity for gender-inclusive financial education and advisory approaches. By incorporating psychological and cultural aspects into investment behaviour research, this research provides useful contributions for financial planners, policymakers, and retail investors seeking more tailored and efficient decision-making models
