    Get PDF
Artificial intelligence (AI) technology innovations can intensify the digital ecosystem affecting management practices and the quality of life for female senior business leaders in the United States. The purpose of this qualitative, transcendental phenomenology study was to examine the lived experiences that some female senior business leaders, ages 55 - 95, face using AI technology in decision-making. The conceptual framework are Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Mindspace Model. Data was collected through interviews with 12 successful female senior business leaders from nine industries in the US. The Van Kaam method, supported by Moustakas’ theoretical process, was used to analyze the data. Descriptive and inductive coding was used to categorize the themes: (a) AI technology is beneficial, (b) leadership and change management, (c) technology adaptation and acceptance, (d) decision-making and communication, and (e) information sharing and privacy. This study contributes to positive social change as a benefit to seniors by strengthening their AI technology decision-making practices, leadership, and community awareness in addition to influencing positive social change across management platforms

A Systematic Review of Online Teaching Methods in Higher Education

    Get PDF
Since the pandemic began, online teaching methods have received increased interest and review. Educators rapidly developed delivery techniques to meet the needs of students forced to become remote learners. Some of these methods were successful; others did not meet program objectives, especially in educator preparation programs (EPPs). The speed of changing to an online environment limited the ability of educators to research and adapt known evidenced-based practices. This systematic literature review provides research and insight into student-focused outcomes related to effective online teaching practices. Over 600 articles, across multiple disciplines were reviewed based on research and results using different techniques, pedagogy, and design in the online environment. The five main strategies, methods, or philosophies that most affected student outcomes in the online community were engagement, collaboration, beliefs, knowledge, and enactment of knowledge/practice. Each topic is discussed in depth and recommendations are made for effective online teaching and also specific applications to EPPs

Profile Analysis of Hourly, Daily, and Weekly Student Access to Online Asynchronous Courses

    Get PDF
Recent global events have led to an increase in the delivery of higher education in an asynchronous online format. These changes have impacted students’ ability to schedule their lives around their education. This study investigates trends in student access to online asynchronous courses. This study utilized learning analytics data from the learning management system for thirty-eight online asynchronous communication courses taught by twelve different faculty members at a large research university in the southwestern United States. A total of 1,384 students were involved in the study. Profile Analyses indicate clear non-linear trends for time of day, day of the week, and week of the semester in student course access. Results indicate those trends vary significantly from a no-effect condition by level of course and gender of student across multiple courses

Team Case Study in Exploring Practical Problems in Undergraduate Marketing Education

    Get PDF
This paper explores the teaching reform method of incorporating team case studies into undergraduate marketing education. Team case studies provide a platform for students to engage with authentic marketing scenarios, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Additionally, such studies can bridge theory and practice, enabling students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems in a collaborative setting. Through case analysis, students can understand brands’ marketing strategies and their effects, master the skills of market research and analysis, and be able to accurately evaluate consumer needs and the strengths and weaknesses of competitors. This paper discusses the current status of undergraduate marketing education, explores the benefits of team case studies, and proposes strategies for effectively integrating them into marketing curricula

Necessary Competencies for The Completion of a Thesis: Students’ Perceptions

    Get PDF
Research is a core skill in university education, which allows students to develop knowledge and skills to intervene in their professional field. However, there are areas of opportunity to complete an investigation, and the context of the present study is no exception. According to this background, the objective is to characterize the students’ competencies to develop a thesis and identify obstacles in its preparation, presentation, and defense. Concerning methodology, a transversal quantitative approach was used by applying a questionnaire, finding that participants manage some techniques, abilities, competencies, and knowledge and identifying difficulties centered on lack of knowledge and investigative skills. In conclusion, students do not complete their work because theoretical foundations are not put into practice since there are ambiguities in knowledge conceptualization and the operationalization of research skills. The contribution of this study lies in identifying the difficulties in preparing a thesis, which can allow teachers to design an appropriate didactic intervention to meet students’ needs for the successful completion of their research and foster interest in the inquiry

A Critical-Level Dynamic Pricing Mechanism for Improving Supply Chain Inventory Policies With Multiple Types of Customers: An Integration of Rationing Policy and Dynamic Pricing

    Get PDF
In today’s highly dynamic and competitive environment, an effective and practical inventory policy is critical for every supply chain and can dramatically affect its performance. When a supply chain faces multiple types of customers with different characteristics, management encounters even more challenges in making decisions about inventory policies. By integrating inventory rationing policies and dynamic pricing strategies, this study proposes a critical-level dynamic pricing (CLDP) mechanism associated with inventory ordering policies to address these challenges. Furthermore, to demonstrate the implementation and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed policy, we develop a simulation model with the CLDP mechanism and apply it to a specific numerical case. The results show that the proposed inventory policy improves the total net profit by 12.58%. Finally, the conclusions and future research topics are discussed

    Get PDF
The unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic ruined the business hemisphere across the globe and thus organizations are on the pathway to restore people, planet and profit. At this intermittent phase, the relevance of anthropological dimensions at work sphere for building an agile and resilient organization that can sustain in both normal and crisis times is quite realistic and pertinent in present environment. The essential objective of the present paper is to identify the prominent domains and related items that may be considered in redesigning work-place anthropological dimensions and to set up structured scale in tune with anthropological traits. The main source of conceptualizing the research scale is formulated from the detailed literature survey involving essential considerations of the paper viz. character strength, human psychological behavior, behavioral implication on business education, mind purification, culture, personality & values. From the literature explicated in the paper, a clear attempt has been made to identify five broad domains and the items considered for the study. The five broad domains identified are Doman A: Character strength, Domain B: Human psychological behavior, Domain C: Behavioral implication on business educations, Domain D: Mind purification on human behavior, Domain E: Ethical dimensions on human behavior. A structured scale in the clear nomenclature of “CPBME” scale has been developed with the potential for future scope of the study. “CPBME” scale implies C-Character, P-Psychology, B-Behavior, M-Mind, and E-Ethics. The study makes a modest attempt to uphold the potential of human anthropological avenues as a revitalizing HR element in the digitalized business hemisphere

Blocked Pipes: The Economic Consequence of Skilled Worker Shortages

    Get PDF
The thinning of the supply of skilled labor is having major negative implications on the economy. This research explores the “skilled labor gap” by examining the plumbing industry and quantifying the economic value lost through inefficiencies and labor premiums. The analysis utilizes state-level panel data for the years 2010 to 2018, employing both a linear OLS model of pooled data and a random effects regression model to determine the relationship between the number of plumbers and the price of plumbing services (proxied in plumber wages). Price effects are modeled across industries to determine the effects on the overall economy
