Proposals on the Didactics of Translation for Undergraduate Students
Get PDFThe didactics involved in the teaching of translation provide students with skills to improve their translation skills, allowing them to acquire knowledge and understanding of the auditive, oral, reading, and writing aspects, optimizing the language systems in terms of phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, and syntax. The objective of the present research is to analyze the proposals on the didactics of teaching translation in higher education at the undergraduate level. The methodology that has been developed responds to basic research with a quantitative approach. For this purpose, we worked with argumentative criticism by analyzing the state of the art on the subject. Thus, the approach (introduction), development (arguments), and conclusions are presented. As a synthesis, the didactics of translation have an updated proposal that improves the interpretative and communicative process; employing the current approaches, the translating competencies guide the teaching proposals integrally and reflexively
Innovative Methodologies of Active Learning to Develop the Competencies of the Future of Work

After conducting two separate literature reviews on active learning strategies and on the most demanded competencies in the future of work, the paper proposes a comprehensive framework of 31 competencies pivotal for future professionals to thrive in an innovative work landscape. In the effort to nurture these skills, it further explores the contributions of the most popular active learning methodologies and delves into the role of digital technologies in enhancing the learning experience. Significantly, the paper reveals that active learning not only develops technical and methodological competencies but also enriches social, personal, and particularly digital skills, positioning students to effectively navigate and contribute to the digital economy. The emergent pedagogies underscore the importance of fostering lifelong learning, self-agency, and the adept use of diverse tools and resources, essential for the professionals of today and tomorrow
The Effectiveness of Team-Based Learning for Undergraduate Education in China: A Systematic Review
Get PDFTeam-based learning (TBL) teaching models are a student-centered teaching model widely used in Europe and the United States but are just beginning to be used in China. This research conducted a synthesis of previous scientific studies on the use of the TBL teaching model in Chinese undergraduate education to explore the impact of two main objectives: the TBL teaching model on Chinese undergraduate students’ achievement and sustainability skills and using systematic Evaluation and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) method to searched and screened 30 articles using China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and google scholar, which was published from 2013 to 2023. The results of this study show that TBL teaching model is effective in improving Chinese undergraduate students’ achievement, problem-solving skills and teamwork skills. Therefore, TBL teaching model can be implemented in Chinese undergraduate education. Still, the use of TBL teaching model is narrow due to its late start in China. More rigorous methodology and mixed-methods design of the study are needed to improve the transferability of the results
Behavioral Involvement, Technology Acceptance, and Failure in Mobile Learning: A Systematic Review
Get PDFAs we move further into the digital age, machine learning algorithms have become increasingly popular in E-learning for their ability to predict learner failure and assess behavioral engagement, particularly in mobile learning environments. This paper reports on the systematic review conducted by the most relevant research in the literature that uses machine learning algorithms to predict failure, verify acceptance of mobile technology, and analyze behavioral engagement in mobile learning platforms. The search was performed using research papers extracted from four commonly used databases and published between 2010 and 2023; the last database access was on 15/05/2023. Guided by the PRISMA checklist, the review followed a structured approach to select, analyze, and report relevant studies. Studies were selected based on strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, focusing on peer-reviewed articles that empirically test the application of machine learning in mobile learning contexts. Of the initial 332 screened articles, 20 were eligible for inclusion. The results highlight the transformative role that machine learning is playing in revolutionizing online mobile learning experiences

The ultimate focus on the linguistic features of academic syllabi overlooks the role everyday forms of conversational language play in academic work and how learners of marginalized backgrounds are capable of using their existing linguistic resources to navigate tasks within the classrooms. Mitigating Financial Statement Fraud Perpetrated by Corporate Psychopaths
Get PDFThis paper proposes a fraud mitigation model that focuses on corporate psychopathy's impact on material misstatement of financial statements fraud. Prior research on psychopathy and corporate psychopaths has found that people with these tendencies do not possess the need to rationalize their behavior, therefore negating the rationalization point present in most prior fraud theory models. There is ample prior research on the impact of corporate psychopaths’ effect on corporate culture. There is also an abundance of prior research on fraud theory and how fraud is perpetrated. Drawing from existing research in these areas, this proposed fraud mitigation model identifies and addresses the elements present when corporate psychopaths perpetrate fraud. Board of directors will benefit from this study when they unknowingly hire leaders who exhibit corporate psychopathic traits that can impact financial reporting and internal controls procedures. Other stakeholders and the public interest may benefit from lower risk of financial statement fraud due to fewer corporate psychopaths in leadership positions perpetrating financial statement fraud
The War of the Sexes Glossary: How Social Media Could Destroy American Marriage
Get PDFWe viewed highly influential social media channels on the internet regularly using non-participant observation as our method. We observed hundreds of short videos on YouTube and other platforms, as a sociocultural anthropologic field study, from January 2023 to January 2024. Given the well documented decline in marriage globally, we sought to understand common themes shared by social media content providers. Our non-participant observations led us to develop the War of the Sexes Glossary. Generation Z appears to have solidified a worldview that marriage is unnecessary. Emil Brunner’s predictions from 1945 have come true, where he argued that “If the social basis, marriage, is rotten, the whole community is rotten.” The Manosphere, in direct response to feminists’ rhetoric, has fostered three main complaints prohibiting them from marriage commitment: “No Fault Divorce,” “Presumptive Paternity” and “My Body, My Choice.” We offer practicable solutions to policy makers on how to mitigate this dangerous worldview that, if not corrected, could destroy marriage in America
Job Satisfaction and Generational Difference: The Shifting Nature of the Workplace
Get PDFThis study investigates job satisfaction across different generational cohorts within the workforce. It explores how intrinsic rewards, extrinsic rewards, work relations, work-life balance, and employee activation variables influence job satisfaction among these groups. A web-based survey was conducted across the United States, involving 566 participants. Regression analysis was used to identify significant predictors of job satisfaction for each generational cohort. The results revealed that interesting work significantly predicts job satisfaction for all generations, with the strongest impact observed in Generation Z. baby boomers, Generation X, and millennials reported high levels of satisfaction with pay and relations with management. The study highlights distinct generational preferences, contributing to a nuanced understanding of job satisfaction drivers
The Development of the Outsourced Facility Service Market in the EU
Get PDFThe Facility Service (FS) industry lacks comprehensive scientific reports due to its fragmented representation in the NACE industry classification system in the EU. This article addresses this gap by offering insights into the FS market's turnover, number of companies, and employees. The study examines the development of turnover, company count, and employee numbers in the outsourced FS sector in the EU and the five major European economies since 2008. The European norm EN 15221:4 defines FS activities, which were cross-referenced with Eurostat's economic data to identify relevant FS services. Extensive data quality checks were conducted to ensure accuracy. From 2008 to 2018, the FS sector's size in terms of turnover and companies was estimated and compared across countries. Findings reveal that the EU's FS sector reached a turnover of over 1142 billion in 2017, with nearly 2 million companies and over 15 million employees. Despite the 2008/2009 financial crisis, the FS sector in the EU demonstrated stability compared to the broader economy in the selected countries
