The Ancient Concept of the Temple: A Symbolic Study

    Get PDF
The temple is the holy place away from the distracted mind, where the human mind gets new consciousness and inspiration, that is why the temple has been designated with the words Devalaya, Devayatan, Devkul, Devgriha, Devdham and Devlok etc. The temple looks like an architectural structure when viewed from a distance. But if we study the temple carefully, we find that the temple is a combination of various symbols. Behind the construction of each part of the temple, there is some esoteric intention. Different parts of the temple represent the whole story of human life. If there are four ashrams in it, then the story of immortality and rebirth is also included. The temple has its own religiosity, but it also has a combination of various mystical experiences. The temple has been compared to the human body and its various parts have been equated with the different parts of the temple. The whole universe is contained in the temple. It is the entire creation in itself. The ancient Indian Vedic tradition defines the entire creation with the metaphor of Purusha. In the Vastu texts, it has been given the name of Vastu Purusha and the temple has been called the image of Purusha. Since the temple is the entire universe in itself and it is integrated with the human body, therefore the human body is a moving universe

    Get PDF
The paper focuses on Feminism as a broad socio-political movement especially advocating women\u27s welfare in society.  Deriving upon this philosophy many women writers, thinkers, and critics have formulated a school of thought that searches for such instances in the literature.  The main task of the feminist literary critics seems to stand guard against the curbing patriarchal norms which have been inhered perpetually. The marginalization of women, their predicament, struggle for identity, finding their own space, and celebration of the female body is the chief subjects of the trend.  The study of feminist theories begins in the 18th century and continues today. Feminist theories try to identify such biases and then negotiate them by sensitizing readers to their existence.&nbsp

Kamala Das: The Image Of Feminine Sensibility In Indian English Poetry

    Get PDF
One of the most well-known feminists of the postcolonial era was Kamala Das. The poetry of Kamala Das is essentially feminist poetry. The focus of this poem is Kamala Das as a woman—as a wife, a mother, and a sexual companion for many men besides her husband. The poems in which Kamala Das describes the personality and disposition of her husband are those in which her feminine sensibility comes through most strongly and eloquently. One of her poems, The Old Playhouse, is infused with a feminine sensibility. Her husband\u27s approach to making love to her infuriated her feminine sensibilities. Thus, only a strong woman would express her disgust at a husband who only wants to satisfy his lust. The feminine sensibility of Kamala Das forces her to characterize her husband in The Sunshine Cat as a self-centered, cowardly man who did not love her adequately. She claims that her husband had been treating her like a prisoner who had nothing except a yellow cat (or a ray of sunshine) for companionship. Her poems are distinctly feminine due to the common female themes and even the images and symbols she uses. Both the subject matter and the tone of her poetry are feminine. Indeed, in her poetry, she skilfully combines feisty female protest with endearing feminine feelings

Science, Technology, Inventions, innovations – these are some words which defines the progress and the development of human race. Energy sources like oil, coal and natural gas which humans are using for past many decades are economically feasible but their direct and indirect environmental consequences cannot be unseen. A new thing has emerged 2019 – 20 that we are not able to understand and not able to find the 100% cure is COVID -19. The whole world is in lockdown mode for last one year. Even though the activities have started post lockdown period, the installation and maintenance activities are not back to the track mainly because of the high dependency on exports from China for solar cells and solar modules. The ban on export activities have impacted the world. Researchers are predicting that SARS-CoV-2 can spread by water and aerosols also after taking reference from Amoy Garden case during SARS-CoV in 2003 and some of them have found the water samples positive for COVID-19 tests. As it is evident from the literature that some viruses are susceptible to high temperature, the same behavior was observed for corona virus so the Integrated Collector Storage (ICS) present in solar water heater system can be used for water heating. It is significant that by increasing the water temperature could reduce the disinfection time. &nbsp
