The Role of Perceived Scarcity and Anxiety on Panic Buying Behaviour Among Consumers in the United Arab Emirates
Panic buying, even though seldom and inconsistently documented, is acknowledged as an unpredictable human behavior that has endured throughout history, often surfacing in response to significant emergency situations. Due to the significant psychological and behavioral impact of panic buying on society, this study aimed to examine the determinants of panic buying behavior among the consumers in the United Arab Emirates. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of perceived scarcity and anxiety on panic buying behavior, the mediating effect of anxiety on the relationship between perceived scarcity and panic buying behavior, and the moderating effect of government interventions on the relationship between anxiety and panic buying behavior. This study is quantitative in nature and uses a convenient sampling method to collect the online survey-based data from 157 respondents. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of data analysis indicated that perceived scarcity and anxiety had significant influences on panic buying behavior, while perceived scarcity also significantly influenced anxiety. On the other hand, anxiety mediates the relationship between perceived scarcity and panic buying behavior. This study could not find evidence of the moderating role of government interventions in the relationship between anxiety and panic buying behavior. The findings highlight the role of perceived scarcity and anxiety in causing panic buying behavior and thus provide implications for policymakers on the control of panic buying among consumers
Leveraging Humor Content in Effective Communications for the Saudi Food Industry
The study seeks to assess the impact of humorous content on marketing communication for local branded restaurants using the X platform. In this context, humorous content serves as the independent variable, while effective marketing communication is the dependent variable, which comprises four dimensions: human communication, emotional association, brand recall, and customer attention. The study population includes all Saudi fast-food restaurant customers who engage in comments or interactions on the X platform, totaling approximately 16.84 million individuals in 2024. A purposive sampling method was employed, with a minimum sample size set at 550. A fully structured questionnaire was developed and distributed to the study sample via Google Drive, achieving a response rate of 100%. The findings indicate that humorous content is used moderately in marketing communication. Moreover, the study reveals a significant positive impact of humorous content on effective marketing communications in local branded restaurants in the Kingdom. Specifically, strong effects of humorous content were observed on all sub-dependent variables: human communication, emotional association, brand recall, and customer attention towards local branded restaurants. Additionally, the study found a negative impact of gender on perceived marketing communications, while age and education did not show statistically significant effects on the perceived marketing communications of local branded restaurants in the Kingdom. Finally, the study presents several practical implications for decision-makers in local branded restaurants in the Kingdom
Building a Model for E-Interaction Via Facebook Platform "The IN-IMSIU Model for E-Interaction"
This study had two main objectives: a theoretical goal and a practical one. The theoretical aim was to design a model for measuring online interaction on Facebook, while the practical objective focused on assessing how Jordanian users engage with community issues using this model. The proposed model, called the IN-IMSIU Model, comprises two dimensions: the technical interaction mix (organic interaction) and the behavioral interaction mix (non-organic interaction). The technical interaction dimension includes four subcomponents: privacy, language, username, and access method. In contrast, the behavioral interaction dimension encompasses five subcomponents: participation, purpose of interaction, expression of participation, emotions involved, and source of interaction. The model was applied to a sample of active Facebook users in Jordan, which includes approximately 6.45 million users. The results indicated a strong level of interaction among Facebook users, but a moderate level of engagement with community issues. The study found that gender and age significantly influenced technical interaction, while education and age affected behavioral interaction. Finally, the study offers several recommendations for enhancing the proposed model within communication and marketing applications
Deep Learning for Financial Forecasting: Evaluating CNN and CNN-LSTM in Indian Stock Market Prediction
Stock market forecasting is a complex yet crucial task in financial analytics, as accurate predictions can significantly aid investors, analysts, and policymakers in making informed decisions. Traditional statistical models such as ARIMA have long been employed for time-series forecasting; however, they often struggle with capturing the non-linearity and long-term dependencies inherent in financial data. In recent years, deep learning architectures have demonstrated remarkable advancements in stock price prediction, particularly Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks for sequential modeling and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for feature extraction. While CNNs excel in capturing local patterns in financial time series, LSTMs are highly effective in learning long-term dependencies. However, limited research has systematically compared these architectures, especially in the context of the Indian stock market, where market conditions are influenced by macroeconomic factors, sectoral trends, and trading behavior unique to emerging economies. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of CNN and CNN-LSTM hybrid models for stock price prediction using historical data from the Indian stock market. The models are trained on selected NIFTY50 constituents which have been part of the index since its inception. The research evaluates model performance by examining predictive accuracy, computational efficiency, and adaptability to fluctuating trends. Our findings indicate that while CNNs perform well in short-term trend analysis, CNN-LSTM models demonstrate superior robustness in capturing long-range dependencies, making them more effective for medium- to long-term forecasting in financial markets
The Role of Digital Financial Inclusion in Promoting Entrepreneurship in China: A Provincial Perspective
This study examines the impact of DFI on entrepreneurship in China and across its regions (i.e., rural and urban) using province-level panel data from 2011 to 2019. Digital financial inclusion (DFI) serves as a catalyst for entrepreneurship by giving access to financial services. Entrepreneurs, both in urban centers and rural areas, gain fair and equitable platforms by unlocking opportunities for growth and innovation through the use of technology. We employed fixed effect Driscoll-Kraay standard errors (FE-DKSE) and feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) techniques for empirical analysis. The findings showed that there is an N-shaped relationship between the DFI and entrepreneurship in China and across its regions (i.e., rural and urban). Our estimates are robust and insensitive to the inclusion of other control variables such as economic growth, urbanization and trade openness. Economic growth and trade openness have a positive and significant impact on entrepreneurship, and a negative relationship between urbanization and entrepreneurship. The policy insinuation is that the government needs to actively expedite the growth of DFI and establish a favorable external environment for entrepreneurship. To enhance the attainment of entrepreneurial targets, it is essential to adapt DFI policies according to regions
Narcissism, Self-Esteem, and Compulsive Buying: Unraveling the Role of Social Media Usage
This paper aims to examine the effect of social media on compulsive buying among youth in Indonesia, using narcissism and self-esteem as mediators to predict compulsive buying. To obtain the data, a self-administered online survey using a 5-point Likert scale was completed by Indonesian youth. More than 300 online questionnaires were distributed to the targeted respondents with a purposive sampling approach. Structural equation modeling is provided in partial least squares for a visual representation of the linkage between variables. The statistical analysis indicates that narcissism is significantly related to social media usage and compulsive buying, while self-esteem is not linked with compulsive buying among youth in Indonesia. The presence of social media can solely mediate the connection between narcissism and compulsive buying. However, it found that social media failed to mediate the linkage between self-esteem and compulsive buying. The output of this study will provide practical and theoretical implications for considering the primary role of social media. This research guides policy scholars, educational institutions, and governments in Indonesia on how to pay special attention to compulsive buying behavior among youth

The study contributes to the operations management literature by providing an in-depth analysis of the manufacturing industry's interaction with lean practices. It offers a detailed implementation process and analytical framework to guide future research and managerial strategies for enhancing supply chain capabilities in a global, dynamic environment. This research provides a foundation for industrial managers to understand practice interrelationships, thereby improving the likelihood of successful supply chain management implementation
Legal and Organisational Framework of Police Operations in the Occupied Territories
Russia’s urgent military aggression against Ukraine is complicated by its non-compliance with international law on the customs of warfare. The current situation demonstrates the imperfection of the system of modern international relations and the need to update agreements regarding the requirements for the conduct of hostilities. Ignoring the latter leads to many victims of various types of offences. At the same time, there are no effective mechanisms to mitigate the risks of these problems. The study aims to analyse the current innovative legal framework of police service and combat activities in the occupied territories. The study’s main materials are the sectoral theoretical and methodological developments of domestic and foreign researchers, as well as official statistics. A number of scientific methods were used in the article’s research, including analysis and synthesis, structural and logical methods, theoretical generalisation, and comparison. The research substantiates that under conditions of occupation, the military administration must not only ensure the protection of the rights and freedoms of the local population but also actively safeguard those rights and freedoms. It has been established that, to date, the legal status of police officers who find themselves in temporarily uncontrolled Ukrainian territory has not been defined by national legislation. It is argued that it is impossible to regard all such officers as collaborators or traitors without exception; decisions must be made objectively on a case-by-case basis. At the same time, it has been proven that without adopting and regulating societal relations for the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms at the international level, this issue cannot be resolved. The legal status of police officers in the context of their presence in temporarily occupied territory has been defined. Distinctions between related concepts have been clarified, potential action algorithms for police officers have been outlined, and the necessity of continuing to fulfil their duties in the protection of the civilian population has been emphasised. A significant aspect highlighted within the study is the regulation of the relations under investigation and adherence to those regulations by the parties involved in the conflict. In further scientific developments of the research issue, the development of innovative legal principles of service and combat activities of the police in the occupied territories in the context of active digital transformation is considered promising
